25.01.2022 4th Grade vs Clydesdale Farm CC @ Mt Druitt Park .... 1st 20/20 of the year and starting well by loosing the toss and batting... A great start by our openers Pujan(8)and Rishabh (32)(filling in from 8’s) taking to the opening bowlers going at 5 and over with some big hitting to get the run rate moving.. 4th grade is having a good effect on our 8th grade fill-ins as this is the 3rd game they have top scored... A good batting performance by Brendon Edmonds with a 29 and another... solid innings by Ben Collins (captain) to have us finishing on 120 off our 20 overs... Starting with spin was new to me but ben assured me it would work and paid off with and early wicket... some good bowling and lucky batsman made it a tight game... Some missed chances and catches let them get closer than they should have.... closing the game out was Saurabh with 3-13 and leaving them on 8-100 off there 20 overs.... Good win by the boys and well captained by Ben Collins... Wasn’t without drama but wouldn’t be cricket with out that.... thank you to the 8th grade players who filled in.. Rishabh and Abeer... 21.01.2022 Oh man. Can't wait to get some of these in me this weekend! Get down to the Imperial Hotel Rooty Hill!

16.01.2022 4’s vs Glenwood Redbacks @ Upperby Reserve Finally we get a game... winning the toss was a good start but it was down hill from there... the guys were a little rusty with the bat considering the time away from the middle... Credit to the other team they bowled well... we managed to put 93 on the board all out... it was always going to be hard to defend that but we bowed well and almost pulled it out of the bag... they got there with 2 wickets in hand and a few overs to spare...... No thanks to me for dropping what would have been the 9th wicket and a real chance of winning the game... Good effort from Pujan with his batting efforts to hang around with wickets falling all around him... and was nice to see piggy back to the fold and working his way back to bowling fitness... a better effort with the bat would have see us win but was nice to get out and play a good game of cricket.. 15.01.2022 6th grade v workers After a rain delay we finally got on for a 34 over match. We lost the toss but bowled first anyways which we planned on doing as we had 3 players leaving early. It was hard going for the openers with a wet ball and deck made it hard for them to get any rhythm. So some quick bowling changes to try something different had the desired results wickets started the fall pretty quickly. Bowling workers out for 72. Brett Hanshaw 3/12 off 10 and Jason Gardener ...4/17 off 10 So with players leaving early had to change up the batting order with even Stuart renshaw batting 4 and scoring a good 11. We ended up losing 4 wickets before Brett hit a 6 to finish off the game. Great work boys we needed that win. Some great signs for the last couple of games. Blacktown workers 10/72 off 33.2 overs Rootyhill 4/75 off 23.2 overs.

11.01.2022 1st Grade vs Kellyville Ridge The streak ends After winning the toss we sent Kellyville in. At one stage Kellyville were 1 for 55 before some good fielding and tight bowling had them bowled out for 133.... Our run chase started off shakily loosing wickets easily. Rear guard action with a 48 run partnership between Darren Stone and Salvatore Turano almost got us home but in the end we fell just short loosing by 13 runs. Kellyville 10-133 Rootyhill 10-120 Unlucky 1st grade.

10.01.2022 6th grade v city (again) After a delayed toss due some unmentioned players not able to tell the time we won the toss and elected to have a bat due to only having 7 players to start the game. The plan was not to be 5 for in the first 10 over. Ended up 2/30 after 10 so the plan was sort of working out. With some good partnerships in the middle order we ended up all out for 136 after 33 overs. We need to start to bat the full 40 overs. A great performance by Bryce Wellings (...43) Trent Mcrae (29) and Stuart renshaw (21). We had city 2/45 when we had some lightning and thunder which delayed the game for an hour. I gave city’s captain the option of taking 3pts each but he elected to hang around so after returning to the field at 6.10pm we needed 8 wickets and they needed 91runs. The game was in the balance. Wasn’t long until Bryce took control of the game with a great bowling partnership between Bryce Wellings (6-36 off 10) and Brett Hanshaw (0-22 off 10) we. Bowled city out for 105. Couple of mentions Brett taking a classic catch over the shoulder one handed and trent dropping bryces 7th wicket. Lol Well done boys great start to the new year Rootyhill 10-136 City. 10-105

08.01.2022 6th grade v Clydesdale t20 Always hard to write a match report after a loss especially to a team that was coming last. Such a disappointing result. Bring on 2021 We won the toss and elected to have a bat runs on the board they say. Not true in our case. After being 3 for 10 after 5 we knew it was going to be a long day. After a good slow recovery by Chris Zammit (28 no) and Trent Mcrae (20 no) we ended the innings 3-69 off our 20 overs. Never going to be enough... Our bowling and fielding let us down as well. And a few dropped catches and our bowling was just not on the spot except for Jessie Wilson (0-7 off 4) and Stuart Renshaw (1-9 off 4)who both bowled outstanding. Clydesdale past our score with 3 overs to spare. We now have 5 weeks off hopefully next year is a better year. A merry Christmas and a happy and safe new year to all the Rooty hill family. Rooty hill 3-69 Clydesdale 2-73

07.01.2022 Round 9 Grade 3 Rooty Hill RSL Vs Bidwill Hotel CC The game between Rooty Hill RSL and Bidwill Hotel CC was played under overcast conditions. The toss was won by Bidwill who opted to ping the red cherry first. Our openers Jobin Joy and Sachith Anand batted sedately to see the innings to cautious start. ... Sachith’s and Abin Youhannan’s run outs in a matter of few balls put us on the back foot. Jobin Joy, Jerin Sebastian and Ajeesh Balakrishnan got to good starts but were not able to prolong the innings for long. Shine Murali smoked the ball around and some late order pyrotechnics from Mahesh Panicker took the score to a respectable 170 runs. Our bowlers bowled well and did not allow the Bidwill CC to get off to any decent starts or partnerships. Jobin Joy and Shine Murali bowled exceptionally well to get 3 wickets each, while Jithin George, Nidhin Sunny chipped in with 2 wickets each to close down Bidwill for 152 runs. Good fielding effort from all, especially Ganesh Sama who took two sharp catches. Hope the momentum from the last two wins propels us to another win in the next game. Rooty hill. 10-170 Bidwill 10-152 Great win by 3rd grade.

05.01.2022 Congratulations to @jody Edwards for taking his first wicket for the club after playing for rooty hill for a few years now! Caught and bowled from a 150km/h ripper (apparently) Well done mate! ... *Please forward on any achievements from your games so we can recognise them on our socials*

04.01.2022 Hi, does anyone have any photos, videos from the past season they would like to share? any milestone photos!... can you please DM us. would love to have these to share cheers

03.01.2022 8th Grade - We list yet another toss and got sent in to bat. After a dismal batting performance last week against the same team we wanted a strong steady start. Dave and Rish got us off to a good start batting the first 20 overs and putting on 60 runs. Then the batting got a bit shaky but a 50* from Jody saw us post a decent total of 146... The bowlers bowled well and some good fielding at times kept us in the game. A few good overs put the pressure on the opposition and the ...bowlers starved them of runs. In the end the other team needed too many off the last few overs and got out trying to hit quick runs. A good fighting effort by all the team. MOM went to Jody with his 50*.... Rooty hill 9-146 Doonside 10-125 Great win by 8th grade.

01.01.2022 6th grade v Glenwood black Another weekend I thought we would struggle to take the field due to the weather but that was not the case absolutely beautiful day. With 5 player out this week we had to turn up to play and a win would secure our spot in the top 3. We won the toss and elected to bowl. With Stuart renshaw out we changed the bowling up and opened with myself (0/9 off 6) and Brett Hanshaw (4-20 off 10) and we had Glenwood 3-18 off the first 10 overs. A huge effo...rt in the field by the boys. Trevor Taylor also came on 2 changed and bowled well taking 3 wickets (3-28 off 8 ) bowling Glenwood out for 114 As usual we had a batting collapse with Jayden bell (18)opening the bat and stabilising one end Jayden batted for 23 overs an awesome effort. We were struggling a bit at the start of the innings and were 3-30 after 15 overs. Then out came Brett Hanshaw finally with some luck on his side scored a quick 70no hitting 4 sixes and 6 fours. Chasing the runs down with 7 overs to spare. Well done boys. Great effort. Glenwood 10/114 Rooty hill. 6/119 Brett Hanshaw 4/20 & 70no. Great effort.
