15.01.2022 ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS BAD FOR ME? Eyelash extensions are only bad for your eyelashes if they are applied incorrectly! And I’m not just saying that to convince you spend more money for a quality set by a trained eyelash extension artist, over the girl down the street that learned off YouTube. I’m saying it because:... Untrained Eyelash Extension artists may not have the tools, supply or skills required to properly isolate your natural eyelashes as they apply your extensions.Extensions attached without proper isolation leads to multiple lashes being stuck together. Improperly applied eyelash extensions often have too much adhesive, which also leads to lashes being stuck together. Improperly applied eyelash extensions are often too big or heavy for your natural lash. Extensions that are too big and heavy, weigh your natural lashes down, applying pressure to the root, which cause the natural eyelash to twist and break or fall out. Multiple lashes stuck together will cause a condition called Traction Alopecia. This is baldness of the eyelashes due to them being pulled out.You see, your eyelashes grow and fall out in natural cycles. Each eyelash is in a different phase of this cycle at any given time. In fact, you naturally lose a few eyelashes each day that’s the reason you need fill appointments, even if you’re seeing the most skilled artist! If an eyelash that is in its growing phase is stuck to eyelashes in their resting or mature phase, the growing eyelash will pull out the eyelashes it’s stuck to. Eyelashes plucked out prematurely can take up to eight weeks to grow back. And if this happens repeatedly, it can lead to damage of the growth mechanism itself, which may lead to permanent loss of the eyelashes. Properly applied eyelash extensions in contrast, are chosen by the artist based on the weight of your natural eyelashes, and are attached to each isolated eyelash using only enough glue to hold it in place. Measures are taken, time is given for the glue to set on the isolated eyelash, to make sure lashes are not stuck together. When applied correctly, with patience and skill eyelash extensions will actually serve to shield many smaller lashes, leading to a healthier under growth. I’ve seen it many times over in my practice, where a client comes to me after a poor application and a great loss of lashes due to it. Sometimes, it takes a few months, but with maintenance, time and patience, proper isolation, the natural eyelashes grow back fuller and healthier under the extensions. EYELASH EXTENSIONS ARE NOT BAD FOR YOUR NATURAL LASHES WHEN THEY ARE APPLIED CORRECTLY!
