29.04.2022 The best way to get your next best idea I came across this article recently by Dixie Gillaspie. It’s definitely worth a read. When you are in need of a new idea, or the best way to solve a problem with the information you have or you have loads of ideas ABOUT a new thing but you need a direction then this strategy might just be the thing you need. It’s a specific brain dump strategy that, from what I can tell, requires us to ‘kill the judge’. This is because, as ...Dixie recalls The minute I start rejecting the ideas that come up the ones I haven’t captured yet disappear as quickly as trolls at the first hint of morning. Below are some condensed excerpts. ============================== Grab a notebook (Old school). Hold a question in your mind regarding that stellar idea you’re searching for. Maybe it’s a way to solve a cash flow crunch maybe you’re in the middle of product development and need a name for your new gadget. Whatever it is, get it clear and strong in your mind and throw open the floodgates. Write down what comes. Don’t even think about it, just record it. This will take discipline at first because we’re conditioned to judge. But keep practicing. A lot of my clients get past the judgment hurdle by setting a time limit. If the playground is silent, set a short time limit: I’m going to write down every idea that comes to mind for five minutes. ================================= Check out the article here. https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/250018 I thought it worth sharing. 06.04.2022 A few days ago I posted Part A of a a post titled Being out of your comfort zone vs swimming upstream - How do you tell the difference? I posted it to my profile some time ago and received such great feedback that I made a Part B. Below is the second part to that post....Continue reading
26.03.2022 Being out of your comfort zone vs swimming upstream! How do you tell the difference I posted this to my profile a while back thinking it wouldn't get much response. I was wrong! It got quite a response and so I followed up with another post (Part B) based on those responses. This was Part A of that post.... ========================= I would love your input on this one folks. This might ruffle some feathers. We hear the constant messages Don’t give up keep pushing if u r out of you comfort zone that’s a great thing embrace it Be positive don’t change what u r doing keep your head down BUT it’s not as simple as it seems. Because we need to factor in DIRECTION. Stay with me here team What if 2 months ago you were following System A , but you knew System A wasn’t right for you you knew that System A had you swimming against the tide. And then u switched to System B which was a way better fit for you. U were still uncomfortable but also in synch. Well, here’s the thing If you stuck to these ‘Keep on grinding’ messages, you’d still be grinding away in System A Think about that for a moment So what’s my point here My point is that doing something new that stretches you will throw you out of your comfort zone. And that’s a good thing. BUT swimming against the tide ALSO throws you out of your comfort zone. Question how do you tell the difference How do u know whether you are out of your comfort zone doing something u r aligned with or out of your comfort zone swimming against the tide Here’s an example. If I followed this mantra back in 2006, and stuck to the mantra, I’d still be a teacher. I loved teaching, but it was time to move on. It was BOTH uncomfortable AND I was starting to swim against the tide. But technically - I was giving up On the other hand, I was embracing a new opportunity to do something I’d wanted to do for a decade create and run courses for teachers. If I hadn’t been able to tell the difference between ‘outside my comfort zone’ and ‘swimming against the tide’ then I would have missed the experience of building 20 online courses. Again here’s the question. How do you know your discomfort is perfect for you OR that your discomfort is a result of swimming against the tide? How do YOU tell the difference Because this is a double-edged sword on the one hand you don’t want to quit something just because the going is tough (and jump into Shiny Object Syndrome). But on the other hand, you don’t want to keep struggling if that struggle is a result of swimming against the tide. You have to be able to tell the difference! What’s your secret Come on troupers give this a shot. (I’ll have a shot at explaining how I do it in another post IF I get a few replies!!)

21.02.2022 What makes you special compared to other people in your field, whether than be affiliate marketing or whatever? I mean, you can’t be different from EVERY other person/business in your field. But how do you stand out? Or how do you WANT to be seen by your audience? ... Or How do you NOT want to be viewed by your audience? Just a few words troupers! I dare you!
13.02.2022 Tell your story tell your story tel your bla bla bla WTF Skip this if you are shit hot when it comes to writing stories (to engage your audience).... But if you know you need to write better stories and more often then you need this free asset. So here’s a story about learning how to tell stories I started learning digital marketing in 2015 and heard the ‘You gotta tell your story’ message over and over. But I never understood it Even as a teacher I used to read about the power of telling stories and I always sort of wrote the message off as not applicable to me. I don’t know if I’m thicker than most but I never saw how telling a story would really help. Nor could I see contexts where I could tell stories. Even as a marketer I wondered if I even had any stories to tell But since starting digital marketing the story-telling mantra has started to make sense. A LOT OF SENSE In fact, A few weeks ago I was reading an asset (thanks Michelle A) that contained some info about story telling. And I though Richard you really need to study up on this. So I did. And I decided to create an asset that was actually useful for people - a doc that would propel people into telling their stories more often. And by creating the asset, guess what? I finally got it. I studied my own asset haha! I call it ‘Writing Stories To Engage Your Audience’. It’s a little work book, of sorts. It’s not something you read and go ‘yeah, yeah’. You actually get your pen out and do shit with it It worked a treat for me. In my other business (online courses for teachers) I’m changing all my sales copy to stories. And emails. And there’s a whole swathe of articles coming. I cannot believe I’ve been resistant to such an obvious message for so long Anyhoo unless you know that you know you are awesome with story-telling (that’s about 5% of you) then I dare you to do THREE things. Let’s start with Thing THREE THING THREE: Get your pen out and work through the doc. And write!! What are things one and two, you ask THING ONE : Ask me for it THING TWO : Print it off Doh four things, actually. THING FOUR : Write better stories more often PS Don’t ask me for it if you ain’t going to print it off and scribble on it. Write those stories troopers Comment below if you want the doc
05.02.2022 Here’s a little story about vision. About 20 years ago I was in a difficult situation. Little money. Poor paying job. Unhealthy relationship. Depressed. ... And I honestly could not see any way clear. BUT I somehow knew the power of vision. I was desperate so I FORCED myself out of bed early each morning and FORCED myself to paint a picture, in words, of the future, a future where I was clear of this stuck place. It was bloody hard. Everything in me wanted to write negatively. It was so difficult to describe a future present time where I had income, a great relationship, a great life. Mostly, I didn’t believe what I was writing. Yet at the same time I knew I was wrenching this positive future into existence, extracting it, prizing it from my mind. It was difficult to do, to describe a positive future from such a dark place. There was a lot of resistance there. But it was absolutely therapeutic. I could feel the power. I don’t know how long I did this for - maybe two, three months. Maybe six. As I said, it was a while ago. And then I forgot about it. Until, about 8 years later, I looked around and thought wow - the life I have now is pretty much what I was writing about 8 years ago. Coincidence? I don’t think so. No way! So are you struggling? In a bit of a dark place? Or perhaps in an OK place but too scared to dream of something ideal for yourself? A bit scared to dream? If this is you, then why not give this a shot. Try it every morning - ten-ish minutes. Put yourself into a future you and write from THAT present time. Do it for a month. Then review. I dare you!
