23.01.2022 Malacoota Road in Northbridge was named in 1915 after Mallacoota, a small settlement on Mallacoota Inlet in far east Victoria. Interestingly, Malacoota Road did not run right through to Tunks Street until after 1925, when St Mark's Church was built.

18.01.2022 It's time for a market overview! We are almost at the end of 2020 and what a year it has been in the property market. After the fantastic end to 2019 we had a strong start to January and February 2020 but with a nationwide lock-down on the 23rd of March we saw open homes and auctions stopped and April/May/June were influenced by the global pandemic. There is no doubt Australia and especially NSW has done very well during these uncertain times and since July 2020 we have... seen the Sydney market improve with low supply and the lowest ever interest rates contributing to a now much improved market with auction clearance rates hovering around 80% in Sydney. Home values across Australia continue to remain remarkably resilient to the economic effects of COVID-19 with prices nationally dipping just 0.4% in August. According to CoreLogic Australia's Home Value Index it was the fourth successive month of price declines. However, the rate of decline is easing. Prices have fallen 2.1% over the June quarter but are up 9.8% over the last year. So we have still had almost a 10% rise in property prices in the last 12 months Sydney wide despite the coronavirus. The lack of stock locally, especially on the lower North Shore, is a significant contributing factor in prices remaining stable with so far no evidence of urgent or distressed listings. On a very local level, 4 out of our 5 latest sales were sold for street record prices in Northbridge.
