22.01.2022 October 21st was World Reptile Day. Well. Didn’t that bring out the snake stories from far and wide over morning tea. Admittedly, it’s always funny listening to other people’s misadventures when you know everyone was ok and survived the experience!!!!.

22.01.2022 Great to see a man using a broom and smiling about it!

21.01.2022 Our ‘Wonderful Wendy’ Geary recently celebrated her birthday with family & friends. Wendy enjoyed morning tea in the company of her Richardson House family, lapping up all the attention! We hope you had a beautiful day! (Clearly you are never too old for a good bit of dressing up on your birthday Wendy!)

19.01.2022 Flowers really do bring a smile to the faces of our beautiful Residents!

18.01.2022 Lest We Forget!

17.01.2022 We received a very much anticipated delivery last Friday when our beautiful new lounge chairs arrived! The Residents are very pleased with them and have told us that not only are they extremely stylish but also comfortable and easy to get in and out of. A BIG thank you to the generous people and businesses that donated towards the purchase of our new chairs. Your generosity has allowed us to replace all the chairs at once, which has been a lovely way to finish off the refurbishment of Richardson House. We all think you are amazing and cannot thank you enough!

16.01.2022 If you are a fabulous Registered Nurse we want you!!

16.01.2022 Another ‘Hippie’ in full bloom. Just divine!

13.01.2022 Have a look at these Hippies! No sorry, not the Resies, the flowers!

09.01.2022 Last week was International Teddy Bear Day so we had a picnic lunch in the Rec Area. (Unfortunately weather was not conducive to being outside in the garden as we had planned!) Residents sat around the Rec tables whilst having lunch and thoroughly enjoyed being together for a chat and laugh reminiscing about ‘teddy bears’ & toys they had as children. For those of you who may not be aware, Reminiscence is a process that involves people recollecting, reflecting on and recre...ating events, feelings, incidents and happenings, either individually or collectively. Some of the proven benefits for the person reminiscing and the listeners around them are increased socialisation, self-esteem and life satisfaction, decreased depression and improved morale. We often reminisce about a huge range of topics and the Residents take such delight in being able to share their life experiences with one another. I personally as an Activities Officer never stop learning and loving listening to what our wonderful Residents share with us as they have been the backbone of this wonderful country and have such an amazing wealth of knowledge!

07.01.2022 Thank you so much to Pat Penna for delivering these beautiful flowers for our Residents enjoyment.

06.01.2022 A Remembrance Day Service was held at Richardson House to honour the fallen for fighting to give us the freedom and life as we know it today. Residents wore Poppy’s to acknowledge their brave forebears!

05.01.2022 Yesterday morning was just perfect for exercises in the Sensory Garden!

05.01.2022 So today we discovered that some of our Residents were not as ‘angelic’ as we’d thought when we took a trip down memory lane to their School Days . The things you find out! All secrets remain here though - wouldn’t like to shatter any reputations!!! To coincide with our discussions Residents enjoyed jam drops and anzacs with their morning tea.

04.01.2022 Just because there were no fashions on the field at Melbourne Cup, it didn’t stop us from having fun. We had a great day with our own fascinators & hats, a beautiful lunch around the Recreation tables and plenty of cheering as the runners hit the straight at Flemington!

01.01.2022 This morning exercises consisted of throwing a Family History Ball around and a whole lot of talking. Who’d have thought we’d talk much! . The Family History Ball has many conversation starters on it which leads to great discussions on a wide range of topics.
