24.01.2022 RICHO UPDATE We are waiting on a response from the Heritage Council - surely there will not be a bulldozer sent in or a contract let before we get a response - ...currently according the the phone message the Chair of the Heritage Council is on leave - due back in mid August - the minister is quoted saying the final decision is up to her and until the Heritage Council meet things are going ahead as planned - Surely not !!!!! Richard...son Park went to the expense of reinforced glass wings to annul the need of aluminium mullions and built a step down area whereby everyone can see - Marrarra there are 9 maybe 12 spots to sit with noses against the windows where one can see the whole paddock. Great friendships have been made there and great footballers came from there. The tenders have now closed and 4 companies have tendered to DEMOLISH our Rugby League Spiritual Home. You have shown your support by sharing this group to your friends - some of you attended our Peaceful Rally on Sunday 28th - some of your have written wonderful stories about you and your families association to the ground and stand. This historical site needed to be kept in the manner it deserves. WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE DEMOLISHED TO CREATE JOBS ????????????? WHY DOES IT NEED TO BE A COMMUNITY SPACE - IT ALREADY IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RESIDENTS WILL STILL BE ABLE TO ACCESS IT AS THEY DID BEFORE. A rugby league academy to engage youth back into sport with mentoring and guidance. Who got the nod ?... The residents or the two clubs? 08.01.2022 SAT at Richardson Park It would be just fantastic to hear the siren ring and games on The Shad would have this tree done and dusted We want to come home !!!!...! Brothers and Nightcliff’s fully costed proposal with a business plan into the future - not relying on the NT Gov and the NRL - consisting of 5 of Darwin’s most prominent business man with the backing of some of the major developers in the territory would have been up and running by now and a show piece including a men’s shed and a NRL Academy in conjunction with the school to boost its numbers Thanks to mainly two people Nigel Roy and Steve Nugent white anting the project in favour of the Mararra debacle - which has ended up a South Darwin sporting body complex fully funded by the NT government. I would like to have Michael Gunner playing again for Nightcliff Dragons he has developed the best side step I have seen in any politician in the last 50 years Stem Frustrated Life Member of I don’t know what !!

At present the rugby league historical ground is... under threat of being bulldozed and the ashes of those that are spread there lost forever - another piece of Darwins sporting history gone forever - help save it by having your say Here are some tips below and some points to follow if you want to use them - cultural history and rugby leagues DNA is at this ground Submit your letter to [email protected] Or send to The Heritage Council PO Box 4198 Darwin NT 0810 Significance Indicate if you can which of the heritage assessment criteria you believe this place or object meets: (a) it is important to the course, or pattern, of the Territory's cultural or natural history; (b) it possesses uncommon, rare or endangered aspects of the Territory's cultural or natural history; (c) it has potential to yield information that will contribute to an understanding of the Territory's cultural or natural history; (d) it is important in demonstrating the principal characteristics of a class of cultural or natural places or environments; (e) it is important in exhibiting particular aesthetic characteristics; (f) it is important in demonstrating a high degree of creative or technical achievement during a particular period; (g) it has a strong or special association with a particular community or cultural group for social, cultural or spiritual reasons, including the significance of a place to Aboriginal people as part of their continuing and developing cultural traditions; (h) it has a special association with the life or works of a person, or group of persons, of importance in the Territory's history.
