20.01.2022 Hi guys! Blunt post warning ;-) Do you want more practices for 2020? Well you are going to have to start stepping up and taking ownership of YOUR club. CTMCC i...s potentially stepping into 2020 with a very small committee, most of which no longer reside in Charters Towers. Which will mean Practices will only take place when practice officals from other clubs and areas offer to help. Seeing as other clubs have their own issues with volunteers its going to be a stretch. How can you help? Get some mates together and become practice officals! It doesnt mean you have to run every single one, but if a few people become officials you may only need to run one or two - depending how much ride time you want. It's super easy, free and can be done as pairs - so you still get to ride. Want to learn more? Read a copy of the post I made last year - information for 2020 has been updated. ........ Ok guys! Information on becoming an official! This will be a lengthy post, but the process really is simple! **NEXT COURSE and ONLY COURSE IN TOWNSVILLE IS 26th April 2020! Why don’t you run more practices? - We would LOVE to! But we need more officials to help share the load! Why should I become an official? - It helps strengthen the longevity of your clubs AND it helps give YOU more ride time. - As a parent it helps you understand the sport, the rules and keeps you up to date. - Its rewarding! Cheesy cliché but seeing everyone have fun and enjoy the sport they love has its perks! I’m new to the sport I don’t understand the rules. - That’s ok! The course will give you the information you need, and it is backed up by online information and updates from Motorcycling Queensland. I can’t ride and official at the same time. - Technically no, however if you and a mate co official you can take turns at riding on the day. But I don’t want to run race days just practice days? - Perfect! While the sport does need more race officials, clubs are more then happy for you to find your feet as practice officials you never know you may just want to progress up the official ladder. The process is still the same and your progression is totally up to you! What do I need to be an official? - Blue card Volunteer: https://www.qld.gov.au//regul/blue-card/applications/apply - First Aid whilst not mandatory to become an official, a first aider is also required to be present at practice events. - MQ Officials Licence. How much does it cost to be an official? - Your time that’s it! The course is free and they give you FOOOOOD! How do I become an official and get my licence? **Super simple!** - Step one: Complete the online course - https://www.mqld.org.au/coaches-and-officials/officials/ (please note doing this course alone DOES NOT make you a practice official it is badly worded and will give you that impression) - Step two: DO the face to face MQ Course. It is free. For the closest seminar near you - https://drive.google.com//14eamsUzb-AuzxHRMBHpD51sBoc/view The next Officials course closest to Charters Towers is 26th April 2020 . You will only need to do ONE day - depending on the type of official you wish to be as to which day. Please click link for exact dates and times - https://drive.google.com//14eamsUzb-AuzxHRMBHpD51sBoc/view - Step 3: Log hours in your logbook. This doesn’t take too long when you want to become a practice official. You just assist with a practice or 2 and log the hours in your logbook. - Step 4: Apply for your official licence. Take copies of your logbook and send them to Motorcycle Queensland, pay a small fee and you will receive your licence. It really is that simple! If you have ANY questions, ASK Once you become an official let us know so we can add you to our CTMCC Practice Officials page. **NEXT COURSE and ONLY COURSE IN TOWNSVILLE IS 26th April 2020!

20.01.2022 Reminder Meeting : Monday 24th February 7pm Richmond Bowls club
18.01.2022 Announcement Good Evening We as a club have proudly ran 22 consecutive King of the Goldfields events - it is an event like no other and sees participants an...d spectators from far and wide. We have received generous financial support from many businesses throughout the years, without it our success would have not been guaranteed. Having said this we have made the extremely hard decision to not run the event this year. The Coronavirus Covid 19 has hit Australia’s health and back pocket hard - with things only to get worse over the coming months. Clubs are no different. MQ is implementing the below health and safety rules (and very rightly so) to ensure risk to our riders, spectators and volunteers are kept to a minimum. Due to these measures our committee has voted not to proceed with King of the Goldfields 2020. Reasons 1. We believe we should not place unnecessary pressure on local business in this trying time for sponsorship. 2. Spectators are not encouraged, it is preferred no camping and only 1 support person per rider. Our success and cost covering is based on camping fees and canteen sales. Nominations barely cover insurance and ambulance costs. No camping will drive up costs for the rider. 3. 1/2 of our functional committee and volunteers are listed as high risk or have immediate family in the high risk category, their health is our priority. Without these people the event will be put under pressure. This is a decision we did not take lightly and we wanted to be as transparent as possible for our members. Thank you CTMCC Committee 2020

06.01.2022 Tatts Finke Desert Race cancellation To Finke competitors, sponsors, suppliers, volunteers, officials, ambassadors and supporters. On behalf of the Finke Desert... Race committee, I regret to advise that the Tatts Finke Desert Race for 2020 has been cancelled. Australian Government advice to restrict gatherings to 500 people or less meant we had no option but to cancel. Additionally travel to Aputula community (Finke) has been restricted so we wouldn’t be able to camp overnight. This is the right decision based on health grounds. To all our competitors, we will send further advice on refunds of entry fees. This may take some time and I ask that you be patient as we work through the process. We will send you another message in the coming weeks. This is the first time in the events 44 year history that we have had to take this action. There is no one to blame here and I am sure there will be many very disappointed people however things are beyond our control. Keep monitoring the advice from all governments on how to stay as safe as possible. All being well, we will see you in 2021. Antony Yoffa President Finke Desert Race
