25.01.2022 Richmond’s 3.1 now has a halo system fitted to help protect our firefighters in the worst conditions.
23.01.2022 With the end of the permit period this Thursday, please be mindful of neighboring properties that might have smoke sensitive crops e.g. vinyards and orchids. We would ask you to register your burn on 1800 000 699 to prevent unnecessary call outs from brigades. If in doubt ask your neighbours or contact your local fire brigade.
22.01.2022 Due to the cv19 the brigade has decided to suspend our Friday night raffles at the Richmond Arms Hotel. We want to minimise close contact with the public so we can concentrate on our primary role of responding to incidents within our community. We would like to thank the Richmond Arms Hotel and everyone who supports us on Friday nights for their ongoing support.
21.01.2022 Santa and his Elf has flown in to Richmond and is getting ready to help us with the Lolly run. Come see us at Richmond village green at 2pm and then the pub at 2.30pm...
17.01.2022 Reminder that permits are still required. You can burn only 1 pile under a square metre at a time on your property. And please register your burn to avoid unnecessary call out from the brigade. If unsure call your local permit officer.
16.01.2022 Tasmania Fire Service has declared an end to the fire permit statewide from 2am tomorrow (Thursday 25 March). This means that anyone in Tasmania intending to li...ght a private fuel reduction burn will no longer require a fire permit to do so. Even though permits are no longer required, landowners who plan to light burns on their property should: be mindful of the weather be prepared with an adequate water supply have access to firefighting equipment be physically capable consult with the owners of neighbouring properties, particularly those with vulerable crops such as vineyards. This update brings the north and south in line with the north west which had the permit period revoked a fortnight ago. At all times burning on private property is governed by local council by-laws which must be adhered to and environmental laws which govern smoke emissions. Property owners planning to burn on their land should visit fire.tas.gov.au for further information. Call 1800 000 699 to register their burn to prevent an unnecessary visit from a local brigade.

15.01.2022 In these uncertain times we want you to be aware that the Campania,Colebrook, Tea Tree and Richmond Fire Brigades want to support our Community. Members of our ...brigades have come together to develop a digital hub to help you access some of the support you might need at times of social distancing and isolation. If you or someone you know is experiencing difficulty keeping in touch, getting the groceries or even walking the dog you can contact the number, email or messenger on the flyer below and we will link you up with a member of our community that can help. At challenging times we believe it is important for us to pull together to keep our community safe. See more
14.01.2022 If you're off to the shack this weekend it will be tempting to get the wood heater or open fireplace going. Chimneys and flues that have not been properly main...tained can catch fire, and these types of fires have already destroyed homes in Tasmania this year. These things can help reduce the risks associated with fireplaces and wood heaters: Have your chimney/flue professionally cleaned annually. Only burn wood that has been properly seasoned/dried, so it burns hotter and produces less smoke. Place a fire screen in front of fireplaces. Put logs in lengthways so they can’t roll out. Keep anything flammable, including your woodpile, at least two metres from the fireplace. And most importantly, have smoke alarms installed in every sleeping area - that includes your shack, boat and caravan. For more information about how to stay safe at your place this winter visit www.fire.tas.gov.au

13.01.2022 It's great to see people are cleaning their property's and with the social gathering restrictions easing people are having bonfires and generally doing the right thing. But could everyone please, please register your burn on 1800 000 699. Regardless of how small or big the fire is or if you told your neighbors the TFS are still getting a large amount of unnecessary callouts to bonfires. So please register.

08.01.2022 With a bit of moisture around now is the time to do that last minute clean up around your houses and blocks, for any fires under a cubic metre in size please ca...ll 1800 000 699 to register your burn. For larger heaps or fuel reduction burns you will require a permit, which is FREE you have to call the same number to organise one, the Tas Fire Service will put you in contact with your local permit officer. Please be aware your permit officers are volunteers and may not be able to issue you a permit at the drop of a hat, so forward planning is essential. Thank you and have a safe and merry Christmas. 08.01.2022 At some point or other Rick Birch has been there for all of us when we needed him. Most of us have been trained by him, been guided by him and felt the confiden...ce of knowing he has our back. Today we want him and his beautiful young family to know that we are here for the man and the family who has always put others first. Our thoughts are with you, Rick Birch and your children on the tragic passing of Carolyn. See more
