22.01.2022 Please find below the last match report from last weekend. It's the 6th grade game from Sunday, penned by their captain Haydo: 6th Grade Match Report. On Sunday we hosted the Montague Bay Sharks.... We won the toss (5 in a row, winning these at least) and sent the opposition in. Tappy and Moose starting with both bowling great first spells wih no luck at all. Tappy's first 5 were exceptional and deserved a wicket or 2 but it took The Bruz at first change to get the breakthrough. Them 1/77. We then took a few quick ones with Finchy 1 and Snags jagging 2 to have them 4/106. A small partnership developed before Moose and Tappy returned. Tappy finally grabbing there stubborn opener and Moose ripping through the lower order with 3 in a row(great hattrick mate - your reaction was priceless) for them to finish 8/177. Best of the bowling Tappy 1-22 Moose 3-39 Snags 2-21 Bruz 1-37 & Finchy 1-30 A lot more consistent guys. It would have been easy to drop our heads early but we stuck with it and apart from the odd loose over and couple of dropped catches we would have been chasing 30 less. A solid total but i was confident in our line-up. Rich and Finchy opened. After a slow start Rich (8) fell first trying to up the ante (on orders from his skipper, sorry Rich), with Dave Geary in next. Finchy (2) went next with Tappy joining David. Tappy (7) was dimissed with Snags striding out for a nice little cameo of 19 before he holed out and Zac (5) fell soon after with us 5/83. Enter the D.Kel. With us falling behind the run rate and David (25) falling at the other end, D.Kel opened up. In a fantastic display he kept us in the hunt with some smart batting and good hitting. Unfortunately we list Moose (5) and Bruz (7) with the injured Haydo joining D.Kel with 1 over left and 27 runs to go. After a galant effort D.Kel fell trying to clear the rope and with us 1 man down we were left short of our target. Great effort guys, we just need to get that strike turning over early in our innings and still need to build those partnerships. Still heaps of positives and that elusive first win is really close. I'm sure we'll get it in the next week or 2. Keep working boys. Player of the Match - David Kelly Outstanding Captains Award - David Geary Special mention today to Moose - fantastic bowling to get the hattrick buddy, well bowled. D.Kel - Best innings I've seen you play mate, fantastic effort, proud of ya. Well deserved. David - Kept for us with no warning and did a great job, plus a very solid innings, great 6th grade debut mate. Tommy - Thanks for fielding for us today fella, have ya back in the gloves soon. Also thanks again to Zac for filling in, Gemma fir scoring duties and the Lodge's and Nyrelle for keeping us fed and after game hydration. Cheers Haydo Go Lions

22.01.2022 Great start to the season for 4th grade today... won by 137 runs!!!

21.01.2022 Please share...

20.01.2022 I just like to apologise for the lack of posts of late but rest assured that this issue has now been rectified and we will return to our usual posts... to kick things off, here is the report from 4th grade's match from last Saturday by the club legend, and captain of the team, (insert drum roll) the one and only Webby... 4th grade match report On Saturday we took on Campania at their home ground. The grass was very long and it was hard for both sides to score easy runs... We lost the toss and had to bowl first . We started off well with some good tight bowling and had their big guns out early . We had a sniff with them being 5/49 but we let them get away with some loose bowling and dropped catches and they finished on 123. Bowlers went well with Webby 3/7, Lodgey 2/17 Rocket 2/28 and JB bowling tight with little luck 1/22 off his 10 overs. Young Mitchell Blackburn filled in for us and fielded brilliantly taking a catch and nearly a screamer at square leg also. We went into bat knowing we only had to bat the fifty overs out and we would win. Rocket was the rock of Gibraltar at the top of the innings but unfortunately no one could stay with him. He batted the whole innings and ended up on 29. Rob Sutcliffe showed his run scoring ability with a quick 11 but that was the only shining light we had and all out for 93. Mitch Blackburn had to go in and face a hat trick ball but to his credit he played it like he had been out in the middle for awhile. We know what is required and have to work hard to get the results that we know we can achieve. GO LIONS

13.01.2022 This weekend's Round 5 games:

13.01.2022 Important messages from your favourite cricket club... Firstly, I hope all our players, supporters and sponsors are well and are managing the best way they can during this period of uncertainty. Though things are changing on a daily basis there's some things we still need to do, like hold our AGM. On 4 May 2020 the RCCC will hold its AGM at 7:30 pm. Now, how we do this will be radically different due to COVID-19 and at this stage it may just be held via Messenger (text) or Me...ssenger Video call. We will figure this out shortly but for now can those interested in joining the committee, as a normal member or in an executive position, please let me know via this post so I can ensure that you are included in the forum on the night. If you have any queries about taking on a role please contact Garry Smith or myself, Richard Ikin. Nominations will close 25 April 2020. Now, I know we need to look after ourselves and families but like all clubs, we would be lost without sponsors. The unfortunate reality of COVID-19 is that not all businesses will come out the other side so can I please ask, wherever and whenever possible, that we all try and support our sponsors, from making purchases to sharing their Facebook posts to help advertise. Your support can make a difference and is greatly appreciated. Lastly, but most importantly, your own physical and mental well being is extremely important to the RCCC. We are an amazing supportive cricket community, let's use this strength to support each other during this time. Don't be afraid to regularly check in with each other and don't be too scared or proud to reach out if you need a hand. We will get through this and hopefully we will come out the other side stronger! GO THE LIONS, and just for you Rocket, GO THE BOMBERS!!! Please share this post and stay safe...

12.01.2022 Presentation night... Due to the current threat from the corona virus and based on advice from CA, CT and the KSCA, our presentation night will be cancelled. We are living in interesting times and our player's, partner's, families, supporters and sponsor's health needs to come first.... We understand your frustration and disappointment and we will look at organising an event at a later date to recognise the achievements of our team's and player's from season 2019/20. We will keep you posted on all developments. Please look after yourselves and stay safe.

12.01.2022 Here is the report from last night's 7th Grade T20 match by acting captain and gun bowler, Brett Amos... 7th grade T20 captains report. Tuesday night seen us host the Mackillop Beltas, winning the toss (6 in a row) we decided to bat first. We did not get off to the best start losing quick wickets and after 5 overs we were 4/15. David Monks batted well for his 5 even though didn't make many runs batted well when batting was at its toughest. Then Alex Finch (15) and John Blackb...urn (22) put on a great partnership of 43 when we needed it most, Finchy did really well at turning the strike over and JB batting really well with a buggered calf some might say he retired too early. Then we lost another few quick wickets and we were 6/51 after 15. Then Thomas Johnston batted well for his 11 getting caught on the boundary going to the big hit and at 18 overs we were 9/78. Then Brett Amos (12 not out) and Daniel Green (6 not out) finished the innings of well getting the total to 102. I was really happy with the fight back of our batting, shows what batting the full 20 overs can do. We knew we could defend the runs if we bowled and fielded well so Clinton Tapp (2/30) and Greeny (0/14) took the new ball both bowling well making scoring difficult. Mackillop were 2/48 after 8 overs. Then Mitchell Blackburn (1/12) and Brett Amos (3/15) bowled extremely well, Mitchell knew exactly where he wanted his fielders and as a captain it gives me great confidence in your bowlers if they know how to set a field for themselves showed experience beyond his age. Brett followed on from his form Sunday taking another 3 and getting the key wicket of Brody Douglas. at 16 overs Mackillop were 7/76. Then to finish the innings Craig Dale (1/5) and Monksy (0/17) knew they had to bowl tight to get us across the line, Craig only going for 5 of his 2 was excellent and getting the the set batsman out who could have taken the game away from us if we didn't get him out. The last over Mackillop needed 8 for a draw 9 for a win and they only manged 7 getting us the 1 run victory. I was extremely proud of the way we went about our bowling and fielding, we didn't drop our heads once and kept the pressure right on the batting team. Players of the match first Mitchell Blackburn for his bowling terrific spell terrific to see him step up when we needed him. And David Monks for his batting early on and for his 2 overs at the end, I asked alot of him to bowl the last couple of overs when the game was on the line and for him to get the job done for us was fantastic. Big thanks to Robert Lodge and Robyn Lodge for having the canteen and bar open for the game your efforts are always appreciated. And to all the players and supports who came and watched it was fantastic to see people come out to see us get over the line. And to all the players if we continue our momentum to next week I can't see why we can't play finals and be really competitive. Go Lions!

11.01.2022 The Zoom AGM, done and dusted... The AGM, via the Zoom app, went off without a hitch, which I must admit was pretty amazing... isn't modern technology wonderful. Anyway, here is the result:... President: Garry Vice President: Terry Secretary: Richard Treasurer: Amos Assistant Secretary: Kanga Assistant Treasurer: Rob Committee Members: Nate, Rocket, Shane, Haydo, Robyn, Ethan and Fieldy. Both Jye and Owen decided not to remain on the committee for the coming season and I just want to thank them for their efforts, especially Jye who has been on the committee for quite a few season... your services were greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for the next exciting post coming soon... Go the Bombers!!!

11.01.2022 Please find below the 2nd Grade match report from Saturday's game, written by one of the stars of the match and the captain of this great team... Faz: On Saturday 2nd grade travelled to New Norfolk to play molesworth on boyer oval. Losing to toss and being sent to the field. Started off with the ball real well. Fielding and bowling was great throught the day with bowling tight lines and not giving them much to score off. Ended up bowling them out for 99.... Todd Rusher with 2-30 off 5 Todd Kelly with 1-27 off 6 Jezza with 3-23 off 8 Lyndon Faz with 4-18 off 10 We knew what we had to do and that was bat time and chase down these runs within the 50 overs we had to do so. They ended up having us 6-38 which wasn't the ideal place we wanted to be in. With David Monks and Lyndon at the crease batting and using all the time needed to chase down the runs put us back in the drivers position with jezza and Alex Cook chasing the last few runs needed. Great win from the position we was in and once again we know what we need to do to improve. With a few tweaks and a bit of improvement as well as a lot of hard work we believe we can give it a real shot this season. Bring on the weekend when we take on sorell at Pembroke! Go Lions!
