22.01.2022 Worms were the focus of last week's KIPPAR session - who would have thought something so small would be so entertaining to 4 year olds and parents alike? Kids visiting the school for their Prep Interviews and some of our Grade 3 students even asked if they could hold some! Reactions were mixed - some thought they were gross and some thought they were cool, but nobody said they were boring! Miss Belinda brought along some books from the library and we learnt lots of cool facts about worms and all the good things they do for soil. KIPPAR Kids got to take home their own mini worm farm, much to their delight! Next Thursday. 9am - 11am. See you there!

18.01.2022 We have some special guests from the Charters Towers community coming this week during KIPPAR and we would love it if you could join us! It is so exciting that Prospect Community Services are bringing a mini Teddy Bear's Picnic to Richmond Hill SS. The plan is to start at 9:30am and you will find us in picnic-mode around the KIPPAR and Prep areas. Feel free to bring your favourite Teddy Bear, doll or toy along to join in the fun (please make sure they are named though, in case they are misplaced). This will be an excellent opportunity for our Pre-Prep aged kids to socialise with this year’s Preps and explore the area they will be in next year. As always, hat, water bottle and shoes are a must. We are SO excited and we can't wait to see you there!

12.01.2022 In Week 2 at KIPPAR, we explored the idea of making a boat to float. Mums and Grandpas helped their little ones make boats out of recycled boxes, tubes and paper, with varying degrees of success. For most of our creations, it wasn't so much a race to the finish line as a race to the bottom (of the water trough). After we were done with boat races, we went fishing (with magnetic toy fish and magnetic toy fishing line). Then, we moved onto floating shaving foam 'icebergs' and ...colouring them with food colouring to see what would happen. Mixing all of those colours together in the water, made it a murky shade of brown and we decided it was time to move on to the Prep playground to play on the slides and in the boat, all the while avoiding the 'Lava Sharks' that surrounded the play area. Using the kids' imaginations and everyday household resources has resulted in tons of fun and lots of creative learning experiences. KIPPAR Kids aim to be kind, creative and confident. If you would like to join in with your little ones, we'd love to see you next Thursday between 9 and 11am.

10.01.2022 It was a warm morning last Thursday at KIPPAR, but that didn't stop the kids going for it on the tricycles and scooters under the shade of the MPC. With our mini traffic lights up and running, we even had a trike traffic jam - but thankfully no road rage! We were delighted to welcome a lovely new family to the group this morning and the kids were so excited to have new friends to play with! Morning Tea was a fabulous social event, with the children sharing crackers and fruit and discussing a variety of topics. If you're free between 9-11am next Thursday, we'd love to see you at KIPPAR, where the learning's always fun!
