08.01.2022 This devastating incident identified Ms Santoros untreated foot wound as a contributing factor in her death. With proper podiatric care, this would not have be...en a factor. Foot health and podiatry needs to be recognised as a vital component of well-being and health, especially within Aged Care. The community also needs to understand the very real risks associated with dismissing or minimising foot problems. What happened to Ms Santoro is not good enough and as an Association, we are committed to strongly advocating for a greater focus and support for podiatry and its important role in public health. The Associations Aged Care committee is currently updating the podiatry in aged care information to provide current information to podiatrists and aged care service providers on the requirements for the delivery of podiatry services to residential aged care.
