24.01.2022 We will be introducing you to some of the characters of the Coal River Valley, rich with history and, even soil in their veins! Many are resilient shown by the ...many years they have lived and worked in the valley such as Darren and Jackie Brown who between them have a combined 55 years experience in the Southern Tasmanian wine industry. When they first moved to the valley 25 years ago, they purchased a house in a paddock. Over the next few years the property evolved to become a vineyard, and eventually a small cellar door was built in 2005 and then a winery in 2010, and finally a large renovation in 2015 complete with a duck shop and cafe. It is one of the many wonderful stops along Richmond Road on the way to the historic township of Richmond. Puddleduck is open 7 days from 10am to 5pm. Call in to enjoy some country hospitality and enjoy a browse in the "Everything Ducky Duck Shop" or a taste of the fruit of their labours, or even a snack or light meal. 07.01.2022 Prospect House Private Hotel is doing a lovely weekend breakfast/brunch at the moment. 2 courses + toast and jam, coffee, tea or juice for $49pp...and even the ...option of a breakfast mimosa! Weve been raving about Prospect House for quite a while over on the Lap of Tasmania, and now having visited we can see why they considered one of the regions best dining options. Crisp linen tablecloths, sun streaming into the open kitchen where you can watch Head Chef Kurstin at work, impeccable service, and gorgeous historic grounds to explore...we cant think of too many breakfast/brunch options as good as this in Tasmania. _________________________ Starter Options (select 1) Natural muesli - or - nut & leatherwood honey granola with natural yoghurt, saffron and cinnamon spiced stone fruit compote. Apple crumble porridge - rolled oats cooked with chia seeds & green apple, walnut and cinnamon streusel Cooked Options (select 1) Bubble and squeak, house-cured trout, pickled beetroot and horseradish creme fraiche. Brioche French toast, grilled banana, salted caramel and toasted marscapone. Free range eggs cooked to your liking with hand cut Somerset free range bacon. To Finish (if you can fit it in!) Toasted white sourdough or light rye & molasses bread with house churned butter and your choice of leatherwood honey, cumquat marmalade, peanut butter mulberry, apricot or strawberry jam. _________________________ As always, we wanted to taste as many dishes as possible, so for Karen it was the porridge while I tried the muesli. There arent enough superlatives to describe this sophisticated and supremely satisfying experience. Instead, well let the photos do the talking Full disclosure, this brunch was our first opportunity to say gday to Patrick and the wonderful team at Prospect House since we returned from overseas, and they were extremely generous in offering to cover the cost of our meals.
