25.01.2022 Haha, great night time tractor driving supplies. No heart foundation tick of approval here. But will keep us going. Wheat box full, fert full, fuel full, me only half.
24.01.2022 Crispy Nyngan morning, followed by a stellar clear day.Nothing like living in the bush.
23.01.2022 This paddock here has been fully deep ripped to a depth of 10 inch. The top soil doesn’t seem to be being lifted at all in these 80 kmph winds. If we were to get a quick 4 inches of rain ( we can only pray ) the soil would take it all up and store it lower in the soil profile, thus NOT allowing it to be easily evaporated over the coming summer period, where we are likely to get a constant 42 to 45 degrees centigrade.
23.01.2022 Fantastic result, Kelly chaining down rolly polly and small gal burr plants amongst millet.Worked better than I had hoped. The front chain mainly pulled out the rollypolly , while leaving most of the millet stand intact. At least the millet can have a chance to get away now.
22.01.2022 World’s first front end loader. Thank goodness they have engines these days
22.01.2022 Anyone need hay?? Elnino is here now. Oaten/ryegrass hay in 8x4x3 big squares, weighing in at approx 600kg per bale. Contact Scott on 0428899600
20.01.2022 It's that time of the year!
20.01.2022 Have a gander at this. Yesterday’s dust storm. I left town when it was raining lightly to find this storm 40 km out. Such is life atm.
18.01.2022 Deep ripping holistic style. Opening up virgin hard packed cattle grazing country. Breaking the hard pan to aerate the soil, cracking the subsoil structure to allow easy access for fibrous roots and water to get deeper in the ground, faster. Also trying to promote less water runoff and evaporation due to water NOT laying on the surface ready to be evaporated by the hot sun. It’s all about, BIGGER, BETTER,STRONGER ROOTS. ITS ALL ABOUT THE ROOTS. Hopefully by doing this , organic matter will increase, as well as soil microbial activity. Less water runoff on the harder areas of the paddock, as seen in pics. Hopefully now natural pasture like medics and clovers can germinate and sustain themselves longer, providing more feed. Better soil health, equals healthy alive stock . Benefits could also include Carbon sequestration.
16.01.2022 Deep ripping red loan country out the Backwater at Narromine. Couldn’t push a soil probe in past 10 cm , with up to 1200 lb pressure on the probe according to the gauge on the probe. The Yeomans went in 14 inches, doing a top job. Track slip was up to 5 percent in places. Paddock will be ready for Lucerne in the spring.

13.01.2022 The perils of deep ripping, putting in a line for a new fence today. I knew the ground was tight ; perhaps it had something to do with the tree root nearby. Although I did think the shear pin should have gone off before the tyne snapped in two. More beer
13.01.2022 Ripleys, Yeomans plow , believe it or not. Here is the proof. We were lucky to have 25 mm and 20 mm of rain in areas across Pinegrove. I proved Country that had been deep ripped to 10 inches about 2 to 3 months ago. The probe doesn’t lie. First pic on red country the probe goes in about 28 cm on average ( tested a few areas for accuracy) on NON Yeomans plowed dirt , versus 2nd pic not 5 metres away , it goes in to the handle, 80 cm. ( I’m not as long as others). 3rd pic on bl...ack dirt , 1 mile away, was sown this year , but ripped only 3 weeks ago. The probe goes in about 38 cm on NON ripped country , then 5 yards away ( see the original probe hole ) it goes into the handle. I find these results hard to believe, so I called my agronomist Mick , to come out and verify. If there are any doubting Thomas’s out there , feel free to call me and come for a drive and see for yourself. Information is free, specially when it’s good. See more
12.01.2022 New discs are on, and we are into it. Ground is still pretty hard, having been cattle country for 60 years. Rain is a cominHappy days
11.01.2022 Just a short video of ripping 10 inches deep with the Yeomans plow on some harder setting Backwater country at Narromine. More pics to come.
11.01.2022 Happy days at Pinegrove. Allison Richardson introduced herself to the Cat pulling the chisel plough. Country is still tight , but a quick 5 inch rip should help the moisture in. Sowing next week. Stay tuned
09.01.2022 Huge dust storm on Saturday, winds up to 80 km ph. Blew like a bastard. These 3 videos are of the farm at Narromine. The point I was trying to make in the video, that can’t be heard due to the wind( apologies for the audio) is the usual benefit of Yeomans plowing in a disgusting season like we are having. The comparison between the farm land that has been deep ripped that the top soil is NOT blowing away, compared to the unripped soil that is being lifted into the air and bei...ng redistributed somewhere else is quite stark. Even in the rip skip runs( every 2nd run ripped) the soil isn’t being lifted due to the lumpy soil buffering the bare ground next to it. It’s a complete new take on the benefits of Yeomans plowing apart from better yields, better moisture infiltration, better and bigger root systems and increased soil organic activity. If you have read this so far , Richo’s Ag is needing help to further research and to develop data on soil health benefits by Yeomans plowing and carbon sequestration by finding the best and most efficient way to boost productive and less productive farming and grazing country to be the best it can be. Thank you. See more
09.01.2022 Dozer says a huge and grateful thank you to RURAL AID, BUY A BALE organisation. We have become the Narromine and Trangie hay receival depot after being approach...ed by our local representative Ruth. The hay came quickly by road trains from South Aust. Local Trangie farmers picked up their hay , then another 6 road trains came in one after another from South Aust and Western Aust. The hay has travelled a massive 3800 km from the farthest point. Amazingly the truckies had a cuppa coffee, a quick yarn and legged it down the road for the next load. Salt of the earth those fellas. THE BIG HEROES are the big hearted people of Australia who gave their hard earned to support RURAL Australia to help keep the stock alive .THANKYOU. Help is getting through.!! See more
07.01.2022 Harvest is here! Need something harvested? Give Scott a call on 0428899600
04.01.2022 Very lucky Lamby, thought the big green tractor was mummy. Came running at me out of the dust. Happy ending, he is back with family.
04.01.2022 Well here is the proof. Yeomans plowing works , the path of least resistance for the roots to follow the cracking in the soil. This field was deep ripped to a depth of 12 inches last April (2015). We just had 60mm of rain , ending 2 hrs ago and there is no water laying on this field. The real benefit apart from the young crop not drowning will be seen in the spring, then at harvest time with extra yield and heavier grain test weight ,as well as lower screenings. Call Scott on 0428 889 600 if you are thinking Yeomans plowing could help you.
02.01.2022 ENNOR OFFSETS, doing a superb job green mulching failed summer crop. Ploughing back in cowpeas to add bulk nitrogen for winter cropping. These 64 plate offsets cut 6.8 metres on GPS, and are for hire anytime. Fold up very neat and narrow for road transport. Call Scott : 0428899600
01.01.2022 More dust storm.
