25.01.2022 On Tuesday night the motion for the DCTB to note the petition opposing the Port Spencer site and favouring a development at Cape Hardy was put to the council. The outcome of the petition suggests that there is significant community opposition to a development at the Port Spencer site which is located on the small headland between Roger's Beach and Lipson Cove. The petition goes on to suggest that Cape Hardy would be a larger and more beneficial location for any future port in... the district and has support from community members and grain producers alike. Despite the overwhelming community response to the petition the motion was carried with a vote of just 4-2. A division was called and the motion was carried with Hibbit, Allen-Jordan, Kroemer & Trenberth in favour and Randall and Lawrie against which can be seen in the minutes. The reasons for supporting & opposing this motion can be found in the video link below between 32:00 and 40:00. https://www.tumbybay.sa.gov.au//elected-m/council-meetings

23.01.2022 The Peninsula Ports/Free Eyre/Port Spencer amendment to the Public Environment Report (PER) is now open for public consultation until the 21st of Feb 2020. Public comment is sought from all interested parties on the project and as it also has major project status comment can be made by any resident of South Australia, not just residents of the Tumby Bay District Council Area. Instructions on how to make comment can be found at the link below along with details of the new PER. It's not a light read however the details are there for all interested. https://www.saplanningportal.sa.gov.au/public_notices

20.01.2022 The three southern EP Mayors have come together to urge people to stay at home during this health situation, especially those who are thinking of travelling ove...r Easter. Our communities and local health system cannot sustain extra people during such a challenging time, and it is in everyone’s best interest for us to stay home whilst we are dealing with it. Tell your families, tell your friends. Stay at home, you could be saving a life. See more

20.01.2022 Well done guys!

17.01.2022 After attending the public consultation meetings & extensive discussions I've had with community members it has become crystal clear that Port Spencer (Rogers Beach/Lipson Cove) is not the preferred location for a future port. If you feel strongly about the proposal and it's impact on the community then I encourage you to sign the petition below. The petition will then be sent to the South Australian State Government. The opposition that existed when Centrex suggested a port at Rogers Beach ten years ago remains in the community today and the reasons for this have not been addressed. The consensus has been that Rogers Beach & Lipson Cove are valued community assets and should be preserved for future generations to enjoy. https://www.change.org/p/save-lipson-cove-stop-the-port

17.01.2022 Stay safe everyone.

17.01.2022 With 2300 signatures received in protest against the Port Spencer proposal at Rogers Beach/Lipson Cove in just 7 days this is without a doubt one of the most galvanising topics in our district. The petition and many of the comments made during the process suggest that any proposal at this location will have significant opposition amongst the local grain producing community and general public. Based on the petition and comments made it's apparent that the much larger multi-purpose port proposal 10km north at Cape Hardy is preferred by the community. The petition has now been submitted to the state government.

14.01.2022 Don't miss the YAC movie tonight at the Tumby Bay Soldiers Memorial Hall from 6pm. Well done YAC for making this happen.

13.01.2022 In less than 24 hours the petition opposing the Port Spencer development at Roger's Beach/Lipson Cove has already received nearly 700 signatures. Wow.
