20.01.2022 This is a great article highlighting that while there is a potential reactivation date, its not as simple as hitting the court on that date. We currently dont have confirmation from MRSC as to when the stadium will be available. Once we do know that date, there is still a lot of work to do behind the scenes. We are adapting a safety first approach & absorbing all of the info sent to us from Basketball Victoria/Basketball Victoria Country. There is a LOT of info! Our g...overning body have been aaalllll over this Getting oh-so-slowly oh-so-much closer https://www.theage.com.au//junior-social-basketball-closer
19.01.2022 W E L C O M E Introducing our newest member to the team - Rep Legend Scott Butler - having started on the court at 12years old, Scott brings a wealth of basketball knowledge along with him. The representative coordinator role is a huge gig and we cant thank Deb enough, who has put 200% effort into this role before handing over the reins. We couldnt be more thrilled to now have Scott sitting in the representative coordinator seat Read more about Scott below: ... Hello to all of the RCJMBA Family, Id like to introduce myself as your new Representative Coordinator. Once the COVID-19 lockdown has relaxed the laws, I will be taking over as the Raptors Representative Coordinator for future tournaments. A little about myself and my basketball history. In short, as it has been a long career in all aspects as being a player since I was 12 years old to pulling back on the singlet at 44 (and did I feel it!) I grew up playing in the Sunbury Basketball Association as a player, later as a referee and committee member. Played junior and senior basketball for most of the domestic clubs including Rebels, Lions, Braves, Superoos and also the now long gone Cosmos and Tigers (that shows my age). I was also a player and coach for the Sunbury Jets traveling the countryside playing in tournaments all over Australia, making some great memories and friends along the way. For a time I was also part of the Melbourne Tigers youth team, then signing up with Keilor Thunder mens for a couple of years before heading back to Sunbury Jets Youth Mens team. Please be patient while I take over the chair and I will try to answer any questions that are sent my way. I am truly looking forward to being part of the Raptors Team. Scott Butler
19.01.2022 L I L Y D E H A S S A W A R D Last night we presented William Wyld with the RCJMBA Lily DeHaas - Have Courage And Be Kind award. William has had a great season in Junior Development . William is very caring towards his team mates and has asked lot of question about basketball and refs. He showed courage when he came and played after feeling really nervous and didnt think he would be able to play. We loved that when William was accepting his award, he could tell ...us a lot about Lily and he remembered how kind Lily was. We are very proud of William - he is a very deserving player to receive such a very special award. See more
19.01.2022 The RCJMBA would like to gratefully acknowledge the many servicemen & women who have both defended & represented our country. Their selfless commitment, often tragically at the expense of their own lives, has afforded us the freedom of the Aussie lifestyle we all hold so dear. We would love to see pics of our families taking part in this very unique ANZAC Day Dawn Service this morning - post your pics below if youd like to share! #lestweforget #lightupthedawn #ANZACday20...20 #wewillrememberthem #weareallinthistogether See more
18.01.2022 Theres a new girl in town......well, in the RCJMBA Committee part of town. Thanks to Diana Devine who has given a lot of time & energy to our Comms role. We are super excited & grateful that Di & her hubby Matt are going to take on the U12 Coordinator role - which they will be AMAZING in! So on the hunt for went for our next Comms guru! ... That lead us to this pocket rocket - welcome Louise Bell! Really happy to have you on board xx. Intro right from the horses mouth below..... ;) "How much does a polar bear weigh ? ... enough to break the ice, I hope!! My sentiments exactly when I was asked to do a little intro piece. Hi, Im Louise, and Im a .. no, no, no need to talk about my workaholic problems. Anyway, Im a mum to 3 wonderful kids. Grace, 8, who plays Under 9s mixed comp and Raptors under 12 girls. Sage who is 5 and is in her words not quite ready for basketball but maybe when Im 7 until then, shes the best at being the U/12 girls official cheerleader. and finally (and definitely finally) Leo!! Leo turns one on Saturday, he thinks hes ready for under 16s rep side, hes a bit of a character, you can find him running laps of the court and is always up for a selfie. My husband Brad, in addition to being coach extraordinaire (His own assessment) runs his own business, Macedon Ranges Flooring, helping locals and beyond with their domestic and commercial flooring needs. Myself, I am currently on maternity leave, but usually I work in a maximum security prison - so if youre ever in need of a 51 body guard .... and because I enjoy utilising every ounce of energy I have, this July I will start my first year of a Bachelor of education at Swinburne which Im very much looking forward to the new and exciting challenge. When I was approached by Kristie and Deb to take on this gig, I jumped at the opportunity. I am looking forward to getting to know the club from a different perspective and hope to carry on the amazing job the social media and communications experts before me have done. Looking forward to seeing you all soon, Louise"

16.01.2022 Hey RCJMBA family! Just a quick message to let you know that we are still waiting with baited breath to find out when the ban on sport will be lifted. In our recent communications with Basketball Victoria, we know that they are going to bat for all basketball associations within Victoria regarding a speedy (but safe!) reactivation date. BV are in constant contact with the powers that be on our behalf. Obviously, currently this situation is much bigger than just basketball ...- so wait we shall. In the meantime, we are busily getting ready for when that glorious day comes - but many of our player singlets are still MIA. Like - M.A.N.Y! If you are out on essential business and can drop your singlet off to us IN A NAMED PLASTIC BAG (with your childs age group also) that would be amazing! 71 Racecourse Rd, Riddell - in the letterbox will be fine :) **Please dont make a special trip to do this, as per the current stay at home guidelines**
15.01.2022 C O O R D I N A T O R S A W A R D Congratulations to Abbey Picking for being awarded Co-ordinators award for the under 16 summer 19/20 season Have a read below about this absolute firecracker ... Abbey, You always enter the stadium with a smile! You are always polite, punctual, play fair, display honesty, integrity and hard work. You have amazing self discipline and appear to thrive on a challenge. Your basketball has gone from strength to strength over the years and you are always ready and willing to learn ... to better yourself. What a wonderful attribute. Everyone wants you in their team!!! Well done Abbey

15.01.2022 McDonalds Gisborne has been a long time financial supporter of the RCJMBA - and they’re currently recruiting! Why not get that CV together & send it in while you’re eating your Big Mac from this Saturday’s McHappy Day?!! Don’t know much about McHappy Day? Jump over to the link on the flyer & check out the AMAZEBALLS work that Maccas do through their Ronald McDonald House Charities Australia ... #thanksmaccas

13.01.2022 OH MY GOSH we are SO close!! The RCJMBA Committee met via zoom last night, and we have a return to sport plan #YAAAAAAAAY! There are still a few restrictions to work around, but here 'tis in a nutshell.... Beginning the week of Mon 23 Nov, we will run 1 training session for each age group for 3 weeks. This takes us up until the week before school finishes for 2020, which has been a heavily requested finish date in previous years. To be totally transparent, currently we still have to work to a maximum capacity of 20 players inside the stadium at one time. We acknowledge that this is an issue, as we will quite possibly get more than 20 kids from each age group wanting to get back on court. Once a session fills up we will start a waiting list. We will have the capacity to put on more sessions if the court is available & the numbers call for it. There is another issue with where we sit at the moment - parents are NOT allowed to enter the stadium. To this end, we need to be really clear with our need for parents to pick their kids up outside exactly at the end of their session time. We will be looking to establish a contactless rego & payment system once the dates/times are set with council. The payments per session will be minimal & we are just looking to cover court hire. Kids will need to be BV registered for insurance purposes. We will be after volunteers to run our training sessions. Please call Kristie on 0418 322 809 or email [email protected] if you can take a session for your child's age group. Without parent help, we won't be able to facilitate these sessions. So....TBC will be: *Dates & times for each age group *Cost *Rego & payment method WE ARE NOT TAKING REGISTRATIONS FOR TRAINING SESSIONS RIGHT NOW. But it will be on a first in, best dressed basis - so keep an eye on FB & your email inbox! Come Feb, we will be running a "Lightning season". Our vision is a short season, possibly with the top 2 teams playing off at our Summer Grand Final day in March. It will be SO GREAT to see our RCJMBA kids back on court! Stay tuned......
13.01.2022 Happy Sunday everyone - Whilst we are excited to see our kids back on court within the RCLC, the available information at this time doesnt allow us to know exactly when or how this will happen. The Committee plan to revisit our return at the beginning of July. Hopefully we will have gained some clearer options forward by then. ... In the meantime, we do know that now more than ever we need YOU PARENTS to jump on board our Committee to help facilitate your kids getting back on court! We do know that there are going to be more requirements around documenting, cleaning, entry & exit procedures...the list goes on, and none of us have been here before. We will need a bigger Committee presence to be able to get this AWARD WINNING product back up & running! (Jeez I love saying that.....award winning!! Eeek!) Please follow the details of our AGM as they come to hand (Tue 23 June venue tbc) and consider throwing your hat in the ring!
13.01.2022 FROM DAN ANDREWS FB PAGE We have had no correspondence from the MRSC or confirmation from Basketball Victoria regarding this, but were getting closer..... The RCJMBA Committee will keep on top of this as best we can & keep you posted. ... **We still dont have a reactivation date YET....**
12.01.2022 We are so grateful for the continued & generous support from the Gisborne & District Community Bank Branch! The RCJMBA are really proud of the fact that we don't ask for financial outlay from our families for player team singlets - getting our kids back on court post-covid, this is particularly relevant. Without support from sponsors like Bendigo Bank, supplying our kids with a player singlet for the season would not be something that we can offer. ... Thanks Corinne & the Bendigo Bank team for a grant for $1340 to purchase some new player singlets!! Do you know what a COMMUNITY BANK actually does?? Info below is taken directly from the Gisborne branch website - click on the link below to find out more! "You may not think who you bank with matters. But it does. For our customers, their banking is making a real difference. Every day our customers help change lives, and save lives, simply by banking with us. Their home loans are building skate and sports parks, hospital wings and classrooms. Personal loans, business banking and credit cards are funding ambulances, rescue boats, disabled and aged care facilities. Everyday banking is providing all this and more. In fact, $250 million has been returned to communities and initiatives Australia-wide. You need a bank to give you the products and services you need. We need your banking to help us make a difference." https://www.bendigobank.com.au/community/community-bank/
11.01.2022 WEEK 2 OF BASKETBALL TRAINING! Monday 30 Nov - 4:30pm U8s (formerly JD) & 5:30pm U10s Thursday 3 Dec - 4:30pm - U12s, 5:30pm - U14s & 6:30pm - U16s/19s combined.... ALL TRYBOOKING LINKS IN COMMENTS BELOW **$5 per child per session. Due to contact tracing requirements you can only book 1 ticket at a time - sorry, it's painful for those wanting multiple tickets :( (You can book multiple tickets for a session, but one by one with separate names). **Enter your child's name in the booking, not your own (or bring your runners!! lol) **Parents are allowed in the stadium now! #hooray! Only 1 parent per child. Please scan the QR code if you are staying inside. Please only sit in designated space as directed by RCJMBA-ers on site on the night. NOW THAT YOU'RE ALLOWED BACK IN....WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!! I do love this place, but almost 5 hours on court & alot more than that behind the scenes was ALOT for this little black duck! Our committee have put in alot of legwork to get this up & running - we'd love our parent group to step up now! *We need a BioSafety Officer for each session (checking that people are signed in, sanitised, and directing sanitation of equipment). *We need Coaches on court for each session. *U8s & U10s - we need a Coordinator for the sessions. Coordinators will sign the kids in, and then ensure a parent meets them after training while the rest of us are cleaning. Then they can leave. Please give me a call if you can help out over the next 2 weeks, or if you have any questions. Kristie - 0418 322 809 :) PLEASE TAG YOUR FRIENDS! Apparently alot of people didn't see this last week so please help us get the word out there!
11.01.2022 Getting just a little bit closer...... We havent heard from the MRSC or Basketball Vic just yet, I think everyone is still getting their heads around what this new step 3 actually looks like. Mary-Anne Thomas s helpful visual below states specifically outdoor sports for kids is back on - being that basketball is indoors, this does not include us at the moment. ... Ill keep you all posted when I hear any other news. Kristie

Kristie - 0418 322 809.
09.01.2022 In on-court basketball news, the Committee have regretfully had to make the decision to not proceed with a Winter 2020 season The necessary yet varied restrictions & requirements around COVID from BV & MRSC, as well as compliance with our own By-Laws, have forced our hand. We cannot facilitate a competition with the numbers we have, within the constraints of the court availability, with the extra time requirements around fully vacating the court, then cleaning equipment/...score bench/seating/ref equipment, before allowing the next games participants in. The Committee will still be holding monthly Zoom meetings & as soon as restrictions change, we will discuss whichever options have then become available to us. Cross your fingers & watch this space! If anyone has any questions, please call Kristie on 0418 322 809.
07.01.2022 Awesome opportunity available for those itching to get back on the court. Please note: Based on current Covid situation venue may be changed to Woodend if restrictions apply
07.01.2022 C H E E R S T O E I G H T E E N Y E A R S Josh Bowden volunteers so much of his time to our young junior players. He coaches our Under 10 Raptors boys and is always 1st to volunteer and help out on our clinic and skills days . Happy 18th from everyone at RCJMBA
07.01.2022 BENDIGO BANK COMMUNITY BUILDER AWARD This award is relatively new within our association. Each year, our Trophies Officer asks the committee for nominations, then sends out 3 names from those nominations for everyone to vote on. This award celebrates an RCJMBA committee member whos contribution has greatly improved our product, be that on or off the court. ... This year the overall votes were tied between 2 of our amazing committee members. These 2 collectively, have held various positions within our committee for around 20 years. They are quick to raise their hand when something needs doing - either in a weekly courtside job, or to take on a new role within the committee. Their basketball knowledge and experience is second to none. The way they communicate with kids within our programs is impeccable, their calm and balanced presence at our committee table is invaluable. Congratulations to both Jo Poyser and Vicki Turner Turner for winning this amazing award.
06.01.2022 Oh wow - we are good to go!!! It's been a long time coming, but the RCJMBA will once again hit the court from this coming Monday for 3 weeks of training! How it will work under the CURRENT restrictions....... 1. There are separate trybooking links in the comments below for 1 x 45 min training timeslot for each age group. 2. We can currently take a maximum of 20 kids in each timeslot. Once a timeslot has reached it's capacity, it will no longer take any more bookings. If this happens, please text me your name, child's name & their age group & we will keep a waiting list. 3. We will only take bookings for week 1 at this stage. 4. IF YOU ARE BOOKED INTO A SESSION & CANNOT MAKE IT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW VIA TEXT IMMEDIATELY!!! 5. Cost per session is $5 per child, payable via the trybooking link when you register. 6. You do NOT need to be BV registered to attend these training sessions (ie the annual insurance you usually pay) 7. Due to the limited numbers, we can only take kids into their age appropriate timeslot. 8. Parents/guardians are currently not allowed to enter the stadium. Please sign your child in at the front of the stadium AT THEIR START TIME. Due to Covid cleaning regulations, we cannot have kids entering the stadium early, and we cannot be responsible for them whilst they are outside. Please be there ON TIME to collect your child AT THE END OF THEIR TRAINING TIME. **All of this will be reassessed after week one, so if you have any constructive feedback please give me a call. **We will need the help of coaches - please call me if you can help out (we will need to see a current WWCC & have you sign an MPD stat dec) At the end of all those rules & regulations........YAY!! Can't wait to see our kids back on court!! Kristie 0418 322 809
05.01.2022 N A T I O N A L V O L U N T E E R W E E K As the saying goes Many hands make light work and that could not be more accurate when it comes to sporting groups. RCJMBA and Riddell Raptors are beyond grateful for the volunteers who put their hand up week after week to help the association in some way - each and every one of you play such an integral part in making it what it is. ... We love our volunteers EVERY week - but National Volunteer Week gives us another excuse to tell the world just how amazing they are!
05.01.2022 W I N N E R S We are so very proud to share the news that we have been awarded the Keith Wilson small association of the year 2019 Thank you Basketball Vic Country, this is a huge honour and we are so excited, we were shocked when we received this news . ... This award is given to an association in recognition of their significant contribution to basketball in Victoria and their Community. Our nomination showed how much we do on court through all our age group mixed programmes and we focused on our success off court. This includes our fundraising, coaching clinics, gaining and supporting local business through sponsorships, bbqs, holiday clinics, decorating Christmas trees and Angels for the main road, our referee programme , supporting the Laps for Lachy event, our Raptors programme and the opportunities this provides for our players and families and our season/yearly awards. The Lily DeHaas - have courage and be kind award and the Bendigo Bank community achievement award. We talked about the importance of a Committee and friendships made and the feeling we get when everyone works together to provide a safe and happy place for our kids to come together to play basketball. We sincerely thank all of our players, families, friends and our extremely hardworking, dedicated and passionate committee. Congratulations to you all, what a great thing to celebrate Love Deb xx In addition: Deb is probably the most humble person weve ever met, None of this would have been possible without the phenomenal effort put in by Deb. Deb put in countless hours behind the scenes to ensure this little association was recognised at this level. When Deb sets herself a goal she not only reaches it but completely smashes it. Deb was able to shine a light on all of the amazing community efforts thanks to the amazing RCJMBA and Riddell Raptors family. The committee, the players, the coaches, the sponsors. Everyone should be beyond proud to be a part in receiving such a fantastic accolade
03.01.2022 C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S L E G E N D Debra Mitrevics RCJMBA Would like to thank you for all of your contributions across many different committee positions over the years. ... 02.01.2022 Great news coming out of BVC! Were not quite there yet though..... The RCJMBA Committee are meeting on 14 July to discuss where we go next. We will consider & discuss all of our viable options at this meeting & hopefully come away with a plan that we can present to you all as our confirmed path. ... Hold tight, RCJMBA family! No word from MRSC yet as to the availability of the stadium.
01.01.2022 Happy birthday Jude Ellis When shes not busy being a GP or with her Defence Force commitments, Jude is the Welfare Officer for the RCJMBA.
