17.01.2022 The Riddell Umpires recently received the very sad news that Bob Manton, Life and Founding Member of the association has been diagnosed with a terminal mesothelioma cancer. Bob Manton umpired 219 games (149 senior) at the Riddell Umpires between 1983 and 2007. He umpired the 1983 Senior Grand Final in the field. Bob served as Vice President of the Riddell Umpires in 1988 and 1989 before becoming the President and serving from 1990-1994. 1997 was the 125th anniversary of the RDFL. Bob was named as the field umpire in the team that was named to commemorate this occasion. On behalf of the President, Committee of Management and all members we would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Bob and his family at this time.

11.01.2022 It would be remiss if us not to remind everyone of the importance of RU OK Day. The Riddell Umpires referred amongst the Umpires as the RU always encourage positive conversations whilst today is simply a reminder to continue the conversations everyday and always being there for one another. Just as we each other’s backs on the footy field and are there rain hail or shine being there for one another is just as important off the field.

03.01.2022 MEET CONNOR Connor has being Umpiring with the Riddell Umpires for the past 5 years. Connor started his umpiring journey as part of the Melton Secondary College School Based Academy where he learnt the basics of being a field Umpire. Connor has being improving his craft each and every year saving up the tax free money he earns from each game to finally purchasing his first car! Umpiring is not only a great way to show your love of the game, or keep fit but it’s also great ...for affording those things in life like cars or holidays!
