23.01.2022 Hi guys, sharing the below for Gayle Sticher, our local tablelands Audax rep and general legend. If any of our Tablelands readers can make the below that would ...be great or even some of our non-working or retired Cairns riders ? Hi all The Tablelands Regional Council is due to vote on the Seven Sisters Trail this Thursday (24 November 2020). The Options Analysis has been completed, a workshop has been presented to the Mayor and Councillors, and Council Officers have submitted an extremely positive recommendation for it all to proceed. However.I have just received advice that council’s previously positive attitude towards the trail may have shifted. As such it may be useful to have a stack of members of the cycling community present to show support for the Seven Sisters Trail. A Yes vote means that Stage One of the Trail goes to construction phase. A No vote is the end of the game. I have requested that the Agenda be changed to allow the Seven Sisters Trail vote to occur early in the Agenda (ie: around 9.30am). Otherwise, it is scheduled for sometime between 11.30am and 2pm. I will let everyone know if my request for a tighter time schedule has been negotiated. Please come if you can, in cycling kit, with bikes, and be present outside the Council building on Vernon Street (opposite the church). Please forward this on to all your cycling contacts. Cheers Gayle

23.01.2022 ** Park Alert update ** Atherton Forest MTB Park is OPEN but we ask you ride with extreme caution as there still is a lot of water lying on the lower trails. The upper trails may still have water running down them in spots and/or ruts caused by the rain, so be aware that they may not be the same as last time you rode them. Ride safe

16.01.2022 **Important Notice** Evan & his Ground Creation crew will be starting trail maintenance works on our 2 town link trails, Lickety Split & Penny Lane as of today. We will be staging the works to minimise trail closure, but we ask you to stay off the new work until the bunting & signage have been removed. This work would not be possible without the grant monies provided by the Mt Emerald Wind Farm community grant scheme. Thanks also to our small but dedicated committee/club for ensuring that our Bike Park & surrounding trails are kept in good condition, but we need your support. Join our club, attend a trail care workshop, lobby a councillor or just ride your bike. Together we can turn Atherton into the biking mecca it deserves to be

09.01.2022 You couldn't help but notice an influx of bikes around Atherton on the weekend. Over 240 riders attended our local Audax ride. Did they spend money at your busi...ness? Most were from out of town, caravan parks, bnbs, pubs, markets, cafes.... Cyclists bring $$ to a community. Are you a bike friendly business? I am compiling a list to share around the cycling community. If you have any doubts do some searches on Southern towns that now have bike trails and rail trails. Build it and they come. Photo is just our local SAO group out for its midweek ride. 28 riders went for coffee and cakes afterwards. See more
