18.01.2022 The Giro dItalia finale uniquely sets its self apart from other three week grand tours, the finish location moves to a new location each year, it keeps us all guessing until the official announcement. Our absolute favourite finish locations so far are the Duomo in Milano and the ancient Verona arena. Milan and Verona are beautiful travel locations in their own right, but add in a special day at a finish of the Giro dItalia on a Sunday afternoon, and things get extra fantas...tico Italian style. Local residents, race fans and travellers flock to the centres to cheer home the modern gladiators of the road and enjoy the party - festival like finish and presentation, its an un-matched experience, atmosphere and spectacle. The final stage into the Verona Arena last year was particularly special, the crowd really found its voice, the homeland Italian and Ecuadorian fans passion shone through for two great gladiators. Vincenzo Nibali and Richard Carapaz (the eventual winner) entered the Verona Arena to a fever pitch crowd. As Vencenzo Nibali approached, the chants of Vin-cen-zo, - Vin-cen-zo, Vin-cen-zo roared through the arena. Its something all of us who were there will never forget, it left us with goosebumps, a feeling of what it may have been like for the ancient gladiators. Emotional, it was tears in the eyes stuff. The Monday after each Giro is complete, we always like to put up some of our favourite images and experiences from the Giro dItalia finale. Today marks the Monday of what would have been this years Giro, lets hope the rescheduled Giro goes ahead and produces another fantastic edition. Were keen to hear - and see your favourite Italian stories and photos, let us know what your favourite places are, or your bucket list places to see and rides youd like to do if you are yet to visit Italy? Tag us @rideinternationaltours Ciao. 18.01.2022 We’re pretty excited about today’s final mountain stage of the Giro d’Italia, the race might not be won today, but it can definitely be lost. This final mountain stage has been altered from the orginal route into France, and now does loops over Sestriere down to Cesana toward the French border and back up to Setriere - ultimately finishing atop of Sestriere. Initially, it seems to be a pretty confusing set of finishing loops, as it takes an alternate climb up to Sestriere. We... were personally interested to unravel the details of how the new stage was going to work, so we did some quick mapping and planning to work through it, we thought you might like to see how it all it too, so we’ve shared the maps as screen shots here. We love this border region of the French - Italian Alps, it’s beautiful and if we are in the French Alps, we particularly love riding over the border into Italy to have a great coffee. . . . . #VivaLaGirodItalia #AllezAllezJai @jhindley_ #WeLoveTheGiro #philAndersonCycling #2021Giro #2022Giro #UltimateGirodItalia #comeRideWithUs #RideInternationalTours #WeLoveItaly See more

15.01.2022 We are so pleased to see the Tour de France arrive in the French Pyrenees. The Pyrenees delivered another amazing first mountain stage. The super tough - 1755m Porte du Balès always delivers, yet again the race moved into overdrive on the remote mountain slopes. Next on yesterdays stage was another of our favourite Pyrenees climbs / locations, the 1569m Col du Peyresourde. We love everything about the Pyrenees, the historic Tour de France roads, the stunning mountains, the b...eautiful artisan produce, the wonderful craft cool drinks available and our centrally located - chic bike hotel, its our guests home away from home - the lovely staff are like part of our family. Were looking forward to showing you all the smaller roads of the Pyrenees as well as the Tour de France classics. Be sure to pencil the Pyrenees into your next trip to France. We hope youre enjoying this years unconventional - yet exciting Tour de France? 12.01.2022 We thought wed share some of our favourite Images from the past few years of the Tour of Flanders week. We are missing Flanders week and thinking of all our friends in Belgium, its one of our favourite times of the year. Flanders week if youve not been is an action packed week, it also includes the little known unofficial sprinters world championships - the scheldeprijs race. The first week of April is an amazing time to be in Europe and a superb time to visit the hist...oric Spring classics races, we enjoy the enthusiasm, passion and history of the week. We love the week being based in Belgium, its the perfect combination for guests to experience cultural immersion - ride brilliant Granfondos - take in superb loop rides each day - and watch the professional one day classics races. Wed love for everyone whos into cycling to experience Flanders week once in their life, it really is incredible and would change their life - and love of the best sport in the world, cycling. Wed love to know: Whos been to Flanders week and what year did you go? Check out the you tube video of @phil_anderson_cycling getting 2nd at the 1985 tour of Flanders. Youll be amazed to know that even though it was one of the most horrible days on record for Flanders, and although they were pushing incredibly hard gears back then - and almost at a standstill at times, their average race speed was similar speed to 1995 and 2005. This statistic really blew us away. Check out the link on our Facebook to the race. Bravo Phil https://youtu.be/aNovYmE6Lmw Listen to Lance and "The Move" gang via this YouTube link, haha he even says don't believe Phil's nice guy attitude - he was super competitive and was a stone-cold killer on the bike https://youtu.be/DGSQyslHYcw #SpringClassics2021 #TourOfFlandersWeek @craigjohnson4812 wins again @wadewallace73 #VisitFlanders #FlandersSportif #VIPflandersWithPhilAndPat @rideinternationaltours @ Ride International Tours

09.01.2022 Ciao Squadra. As you are all very aware, it's Giro d'Italia time and in Italy, that means celebrating the great race more than ever. We thought a local celebration was in order too, so to help with your celebrations we've organised some cracking bubbles for you to enjoy with your Giro d'Italia. ... We've managed to find a few cases of the 2020 official Giro d'Italia sparkling wine with our friends at Twelve Bottles wine merchants. This wine is normally only sold directly to selected restaurants or at the Giro d'Italia, but we have organised for it to be available for friends of Ride International to purchase. We understand the process is a little analogue, but we thought best to have the offer out quickly, rather than slow things down. We can confirm it's a great wine for a celebration or for a cool refreshing aperitivo. Each sip of this wine is guaranteed to transport you straight back to previous good times in Italy or have you thinking about the "la dolce vita" that lay ahead. For our international friends, don't be too concerned that you aren't in Australia to enjoy this special wine offer, send us an email to: [email protected] or message here, we'll check availability through an local Astoria merchant. A fun and little known piece of trivia, is that the grooves marked into each bottle represent a map of the famous waterways of Venice in Italy. The bottles are beautiful. As we mentioned above there was only a small parcel of this wine delivered into Australia, so if you want to buy some for yourself or for a passionate cycling friend as a gift for Christmas etc, then this wine / gift will tick a few boxes, be quick it's fantastic, fun wine and goes beautifully with a platter of antipasto. If you'd like to purchase some of this wine, most of the details are on the pdf flyer, or you can copy this email address below: [email protected] and send an email off to Twelve Bottles, let them know you are keen on the Giro d'Italia wine & you’re Friends of Ride International, also include your delivery details, preferred payment method, Quantity etc and they'll call or email you back to work through your needs. Ciao

08.01.2022 Forza Italia We are in the final weekend of what was to be the 2020 Giro dItalia, today we share some of our favourite images from the incredible Italian Dolomites. 08.01.2022 We love that the Giro dItalia is a little unpredictable and does things a bit differently each year. In the past week the 2020 race route would have traversed from the south of Italy - north along the coast through some of our favourite regions and family homeland. In that week leading up to what would have been todays official rest day, 2 wine stages were to highlight the beautiful Italian regional produce and landscapes in the form of the Prosecco Superior stage (a superb ...Italian Sparkling wine) mainly from the beautiful Veneto region, and the Sangiovese Wine Stage, through Marco Pantanis homeland, the passionate cycling region of Emiligia Romagna. Emiligia Romogna is a favourite place of ours to visit for food, wine, cycling, granfondos and holds a special place in our heart. The two speciality wine stages in these regions also offer visitors a great chance to dabble in a off bike cultural immersion, a chance to sample two great wines along with regional food specialities at Aperitivo and over dinner. Heres a few of our favourite photos from previous Italian Tours and Giro dItalias stages inc Alberobello, San Marco in Lamis, Rimini, Riolo Terme and the Trento Region.
