25.01.2022 Update on our submission to the National Transport Commission (NTC) draft changes to the Australian Road Rules, including rules around motorbike helmets: We hav...e submitted that your helmet should only be required to meet the manufacturing standards at the time it is manufactured, as opposed to the proposed draft that continues to require in use compliance. After this, to make sure your helmet is still safe to wear, there should be a set of rules for helmets that are in use. These should be drafted in a clear and concise manner so they are easy to understand and interpret for riders and enforcement agencies alike. This avoids a situation where riders are supposed to ensure their helmet meets Standards throughout its use and are at risk of fines for using safely attached helmet cameras or Bluetooth devices. It is impossible to determine if your helmet complies with the highly technical Standards that are not even available to the public without payment of a substantial fee. 14.01.2022 We had a big class on Sunday at Moss Vale to attend the Motorcycle Accident Management course promoted by Wingecarribee Shire Council and the RMS. First Aid for... Motorcyclists were very grateful to Council and the RMS to provide the course at a subsidised student price of just $45 as a positive step to promote road safety for motorcyclists. As well as providing great venue, Melanie Lausz, Road Safety Officer at the Council, also provided an excellent lunch for the students to make sure they had plenty of energy for all the new things to be learned and practiced. :) The group responded with a high degree of interactivity and a few laughs were had along the way to break up the intensity of a serious subject . Thanks to one and all who attended and contributed to such a fun experience!

12.01.2022 Brisbane Times 30th July 2017 - A coroner has recommended Queensland introduce a new criminal offence for people not to "simply stand by" when someone is dying.... Coroner John Hutton recommended the Queensland government introduce a provision in the Criminal Code Act similar to that of the Northern Territory that states: "Any person who, being able to provide rescue, resuscitation, medical treatment, first aid or succour of any kind to a person urgently in need of it and whose life may be endangered if it is not provided, callously fails to do so is guilty of an offence and is liable to imprisonment for seven years."

06.01.2022 What??!!! Catch up and read the new law Graeme ODea! The motorcycle wont be positioned illegally. Thats the point! If that is the RAAs senior legal advisor,... perhaps a rethink at that organisation is needed. "However, RAA senior legal advisor Graeme ODea said at the time that, rather than improving safety for road users, it would cause greater risks, especially for pedestrians." Pedestrians are legally entitled to cross the road as long as theyre not within 20 metres of a pedestrian crossing, he said. Pedestrians see two lines of cars stationary, waiting for lights to change and they will move across legally, and SUDDENLY, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, BETWEEN THE TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC, ILLEGALLY, IS A MOTORCYCLE.

05.01.2022 We were very pleased and excited that James Reif ran his first Motorcycle Accident Management course in America. Here are a few words from him on how the day we...nt. - Rog "Saturday May 13, 2017 was a cold, miserable, rainy day, but there was plenty of warmth inside at my first FAFM training class. The training was held for 10 riders at the East Brandywine Fire Company in Guthriesville, Pennsylvania. Two of attendees were my nephews. Mark the younger, and Dave, the bearded wonder. They came in all the way from Southern New Jersey. They heard we were having pastries and took the 2 hour drive to enjoy the goodies. As payment, I called on them to be practice dummies for roll-overs and helmet removal. I allowed my nephew to use me as the practice dummy for helmet removal. They did a great job. Mixed in with the presentation, I peppered the discussion with real life motorcycle accidents to which Ive been called. The students had plenty of practice doing CPR, helmet removal and body drags using the aluminized emergency blankets. The group was impressed with how much they were able to move a victim while using the blanketed armpit method of moving an injured person. Im looking forward to my next class in July"
