24.01.2022 Am I right or am I right?? For those of you on holidays already I hope you’ve been able to shut down some of those tabs... and for those not quite there yet, it isn’t long until you can minimise the screen and turn off for a couple of weeks. #teachersareawesome #teachersrock
23.01.2022 I am SOOO behind in sharing our latest release HASS units!! Here is another I finished last week for #prepteacher ! A geography unit focused on developing a sense of where they fit into the world and basic mapping skills.... It’s lots of fun.. including the treasure map at the end!! But take a look for yourself by swiping through
23.01.2022 This fun little craft is now available in our Free Resource Library! Happy Friday friends!! xx
23.01.2022 Swipe to complete this number puzzle. I was super excited to receive this number tray in the mail today! Lucy has been loving counting to 100 at the moment so I thought I would capitalise on her interest by purchasing this number tray from eBay.... It will provide so many opportunities for number exploration. It was so fun watching her explore putting it all back together this afternoon. So much learning happening! You can check out the fun on my stories
21.01.2022 Yearly overviews have been updated my friends!! This 96 page document will help you work out how to fit all the Australian curriculum requirements into one year... and it’s completely free. To get your hands on our overviews, just head to the website and subscribe to the yearly overviews on the home page.... If you are already on our email list, check your emails. I’ve sent the link to the new document directly to your inbox
17.01.2022 You can’t pour from an empty cup my friends! For me weekends are my time to recharge the batteries. Life is super busy being a mumma and running a business. So weekends are sacred no work days. I have learnt that if I don’t do this, I burn out pretty quickly.... How about you? Do you take time over the weekend to reset?
16.01.2022 So I had this brainwave one day after reading through alll of the responses from a recent customer survey I did and it dawned on me that not everyone needed a whole unit written for them with allll the resources included. That some of you loved the activities included in the units and just wanted the activities. So I set to work breaking up some of the units and selling some of the activities separately.... This is one such activity. Me on the Map flipbook. You can swipe through to see what is under each flap . An individual page is included for each state and territory so you can pop in the page that is most relevant to your students.
13.01.2022 After a quick print and go activity? If so these colouring pages with matching acrostic poems fill a nice amount of time In the resource I give instructions on how to encourage your students to do doodles to fill the colouring page rather than traditional colouring. ... Fills waaaay more time than just a colouring page... and that’s what we are all looking for at the moment aren’t we
12.01.2022 Hands up if you are like me and leave racking up your PD hours until the last term I don’t do this intentionally, I just forget in the hustle and bustle of every day to seek out opportunities to further develop my professional knowledge and skills (because let’s be honest, some days with those kiddos feel like professional development in themselves ). So if you are like me or even if you are more organised and just looking to fill those last few hours, we’ve got ...you covered! We’ve listed out 7 of the best online professional learning sites to help you knock off those PD hours. Head to the blog to find out more!
11.01.2022 Friday Freebie! These food groups sorting circles were actually added to the library last month but I totally forgot to tell you about it... SORRY!! Happy Friday!
11.01.2022 If you are looking for a way to fill the last few weeks of the school term, don’t forget the power of play! Even in the upper grades it is a great opportunity to present open ended tasks to your students so they can play around with possibilities and explore in a non-threatening environment.
10.01.2022 How are you filling the final weeks of term 4? At the end of every year, I would do a mini Christmas Around the World unit with my students. It worked well for every age group.... This workbook is the product of years of teaching the topic with my kiddos. There are four pages of activities for each country, including a comprehension activity.
09.01.2022 Freebie Friday has arrived early! These Continent posters are the latest addition to our Free Resource Library (link in bio) - one of the resources you can find inside our Year 2 Geography unit
08.01.2022 Tell me: what is your favourite subject to teach?? For me it really depends on the topic I’m teaching in that subject. Although it is usually between either HASS or maths. This new year 2 geography unit has me wishing I was back in the classroom again teaching HASS. It is packed full of fun activities (swipe for a taste) which I imagine would be a fun unit to end the year on.
04.01.2022 I’ve realised as I’ve looked back through my feed I failed to share this year 2 history unit with you. It is a local area study focussing on local landmarks and historical figures. Students take on the role of detectives to search out the history of their local area.... Through local area walks and independent research students explore the importance of their local landmarks to develop a brochure outlining a local area walking tour for visitors to their town/city.
03.01.2022 Simply asking ‘are you ok?’ may seem like a little question but for some it has the biggest impact. Teaching is a stressful job. Having someone to talk to about your day, that understands the ups and downs is invaluable. We are always here to lend an open ear. We love to know how you are coping with the daily grind of your job and happy to help problem solve the challenges you face.... So... ‘how are you going?’ #ridgydidgecares #ryouokday
