24.01.2022 I just wanted to say a heart felt thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers, without whom we couldn't run this group. Our volunteers do all sorts of different jobs - leading horses, walking alongside horses to ensure riders are safe, cleaning equipment in-between riders, meeting & greeting parents and riders as they arrive, setting up the equipment and putting it away afterwards, dealing with all the paperwork and communications with the head office in Perth, dealing with the finances, and looking after our HorsePower Midwest owned horses, which includes cleaning up after them. Each and every one of you is incredibly valued, and the whole place is buzzing with your enthusiasm on a Thursday afternoon - it's just wonderful

24.01.2022 Hi All! We have had to create a new Facebook page that reflects our new name HorsePower Midwest, as we are now affiliated with HorsePower Australia rather than RDA Australia. I tried to change the name of the group on this page, but the settings strangely wouldn't let me. Here's the link to the new page. Please share this with your networks. https://www.facebook.com/HorsePower-Midwest-110543143908492/

23.01.2022 Just looked at the weather forecast and noticed that it's going to be pretty hot on Thursday! Of course a lot can change between now and then, so we'll see what it's really like before we make a call. Our cut off temperature is usually 36C, but it depends on the humidity too. Will keep you posted

23.01.2022 We are having our annual AGM this Saturday, 29th August, at 2pm at the Spalding Horse & Pony Club. Everyone is welcome

22.01.2022 Not long until we're starting up again! For anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer, we are having a volunteer training day this Saturday, 4th July, from 11.30-12.30 at the Spalding Horse & Pony Club. Hope to see you there

22.01.2022 Back to business again today. Looking forward to seeing you all this afternoon

17.01.2022 Thank you all for another fantastic year of horseriding! Please join us for our wind-up this afternoon from 3.30pm at Bill Hemsley Park in White Peak

17.01.2022 Hi All! Please find below a message from one of our coaches, Karin Christie. Please come along if you think that you may be able to assist us. Hi Everyone, I have been dreaming of constructing a Sensory Trail for a while now and have finally got a bit of a start in getting some ideas together. Next I need to gather a group of like minded people who are interested in helping with the design ideas stage. I am thinking a gathering at Spalding pony club grounds on Sat 10th August at 12.30 1.30pm for a chat would be good. Any questions I can be contacted on [email protected] or 0400449053.

16.01.2022 We ended up on the radio as well! For anyone who wants to listen to it open the link below and then fast forward a far bit. We're the last item on this program https://www.abc.net.au//relevant-keywords-for-the/12602178

16.01.2022 Thank you, Robert from Lawns Inc., for donating your time to trim the grass in our HorsePower yard, arena, car park and undercover area. It looks amazing! Here are before and after photos, and also a link to the Lawns Inc. Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/Geraldton6530/

15.01.2022 Today we lost a wonderful lady. Lucille was one of our founding members, and one of the most kind hearted, caring and passionate people about. She has touched so many people throughout her life, and she will be missed by many. Rest in peace, lovely lady. You will always be remembered

14.01.2022 AGM this Saturday, 10th August, at 2pm at the Horse & Pony Club club rooms. Everyone is welcome to attend

14.01.2022 This is a reminder about our AGM this Sat, 29th, at 2pm. The venue has changed from the pony club to a private address, so if you're interested in attending please message this page and we'll pass on the address

14.01.2022 We will be having a committee meeting next week to discuss our start date for this year. Our start date is usually the start of term 2, but with the current COVID-2 pandemic we may have to look at a later start date, as we work with a high risk population, and with the lack of hand sanitisers, gloves and face masks on the market we may not be able to guarantee safety for our riders as well as volunteers, as we would be unable to keep the recommended distance of 1.5m in this line of work. We will, however, keep you updated as the situation changes. Thank you all for your understanding. For any future updates please follow the HorsePower Midwest Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HorsePower-Midwest-110543143908492/

11.01.2022 We finally have a start date! We have also changed our riding day to a Thursday, so our first day will be the 23rd July. We will be having a volunteer training & registration day on the 4th July at the RDA grounds. Please contact us on Messenger you are interested in volunteering If you have a quiet horse you'd like to bring down even better

10.01.2022 A bit of excitement today when the ABC came down to take some video footage and do some interviews to help promote our wonderful club

09.01.2022 Sorry about the extremely short notice, but time got away from me The Variety Club is kicking off their annual bash tomorrow morning at 7.15am at the Foreshore, and our club is joining in with the celebrations. As a club we're very grateful to the Variety Club's ongoing support, as some of their fundraising efforts went towards our shade sail and undercover area, which are invaluable in hot as well as drizzly weather. If anyone would like to join us, there'll be a couple of speeches at around 7.40am, and the first car will leave at around 8am - so let's send them off in style

08.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who came down for the volunteer induction day today. If anyone couldn't make it not to worry, just come down when we start riding again, which is on Thurs, 23rd July

07.01.2022 But wait, there's more! I thought there was just the article, but there's a video clip too https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10158281206245985&id=313319550984

06.01.2022 It's D-Day! Looking forward to seeing you all this afternoon

03.01.2022 Thank you to the Variety Club for having us at their annual Christmas party for kids with special needs. It was a lovely morning, and the kids just loved the horses And after the riding fun some of our volunteers even tried themselves on the 'bucking bull'

02.01.2022 HorsePower Midwest (formerly Riding for the Disabled Midwest) are seeking expressions of interest for someone to fill the role of Secretary, as our current Secretary is relocating to Perth at the end of the year. An interest in horses and people with a disability is desirable but not essential. This role involves liaising with State Office in Perth as well as with all the riders, carers and volunteers, and will require attendance at our committee meetings, usually held ever...y 6-8 weeks on a Saturday afternoon. Please share this post if you think you may know someone who may be interested in helping us out. We have a committee meeting this Saturday at 2pm at the Spalding Horse and Pony Club, so anyone who is interested in the above position is welcome to come along to that. Alternatively feel free to contact us on Messenger. Please note that this is not a paid position. We are a Not-For-Profit organisation, and all our members are volunteers.
