22.04.2022 Rita Eicens our Director and proud Cecchetti teacher. Teaching for over 45 years, proudly trained by Miss Shirley Jones-Griffin OAM and at the Australian Ballet school in the 70s. After a knee injury she returned to studying Cecchetti to complete all her Teaching degrees with Distinction: Associate, Licenciate and finally her most treasured Fellow degree. Her most honoured achievement was in 1983 in receiving a distinction for her examination of the Enrico Cecchetti Diplom...a in its entirety, with Dame Peggy Van Praagh OBE and Athol Willoughy OAM as examiners. Ms Eicens has a long list of past students that have gone onto professional careers, teaching, and following their dreams of positions in the Dance Industry. Why does Ms Eicens keep going? It’s because dance is her driving life force and most of all, coaching dancers that is the reason for such an exceptional career as a teacher. It is rewarding to see students achieve a goal. Quality training, taking time, getting on the floor, encouraging, guiding and above all never stop learning to become an even better mentor that students can look up to. 12.01.2022 Alexandra began her dance training at Riga Victoria Dance Academy in 1999 as a young student and continuing on to later become a loved member of our staff. Alexandra displays a vast versatility of musical comedy and has been writing cabarets and arranging tribute/impersonation acts. Miss Ally, as she is called by her students,instils her passion of Theatre, Musical Comedy and singing. It is clear on how she is able to encourage all our RVDA students and their improvement over the years. We are so lucky to have her talent on the teaching staff. 08.01.2022 Kristin commenced at RVDA in 2002 together with her older sister Stephanie . Both girls, reached exceptional levels in all examinations. Kristin has a degree in Youth Work and loves working with children. She is one of our favorite Junior school teachers, with a warm, friendly and caring nature. To help clarify the qualifications that may have either a A, L or F with maybe I.S.T.D (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing) or C.I.C.B.(Cecchetti International Classical Ballet) , here is a quick summary to help parents or those looking for that specific qualified teachers within that particular genre or body of qualified teachers. A = stands for Associate L = stands for Licenciate F = stands... for Fellowship E.G: A teacher may only use the above, such as, A.C.I.C.B or A.I.S.T.D when they have completed the Associate examination for that degree. Dip. for Diploma, after they have then completed the 3 year intermittent teaching required and the following examination to gain the full Diploma. The same then continues for the next high degree L for Licenciate after 5 years and the required examinations Then Fellowship F for the highest achievable teaching degree for that particular method Teachers are then required to attend professional development courses and keep abreast of any changes or fortify their skills with extra training. Skills must be kept sharp and teachers should always be learning to be able to be a great mentor.
