24.01.2022 This article writes "There is an awakening underway" I extend this to say. An awakening, yes. A stirring, a remembering, a re-realising of something so simple and as old as time. We must strengthen our interconnection with nature; acknowledging and respecting our smallness in this greater, wilder system. We must care for - and how we intentionally do this matters. ... This is about a reciprocity in healing. An interchange between us. This awakening must be about respecting and learning and privileging the knowings and wisdoms of our Indigenous people, cultures, and customs. This is not about consuming nature for our wellbeing. No. This is about awakening to the significance of our interconnection with it. Honouring our responsibility to be apart of the healing. Learning with deep gratitude.

21.01.2022 Insight into how our children and young people have been feeling over the past 5 months.

20.01.2022 An awesome 3 days with the team from Bunbury Senior High School Shedworks program. The students worked exceptionally well together, showed great support for each other and all stepped out of their comfort zone many times over the camp. Thank you to Scott Drysdale for donating some funds to make this camp possible for these young people.

20.01.2022 This is awesome. Yay Margaret River.

20.01.2022 Some wonderful speakers

20.01.2022 Always Was, Always Will Be. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land we love, on which we live and work.

19.01.2022 Reflecting on last weeks Adventure Learning program. The young people engaged and enjoyed team games, camping, exploring caves, beach cleanups and cultural experiences. Disconnecting from phones and social media is really challenging for some young people, and this was evident on this program. But the comment in the bus on the way home "it wasn't that bad without my phone" and "I have really enjoyed being without my phone" highlights the value of this time away from screens. 18.01.2022 To all parents or carers of little ones! We invite you to explore adventure steps with us. Taking big steps into new places is what parenthood is all about and can often bring a whole heap of conflicting emotions. Parenting can be so joyful in moments and equally confusing and hard. It can sometimes come off the back of a challenging pregnancy or difficult birth experience; and now more than ever, long periods of isolation as you try to navigate it all. Guilt can often accom...pany these more painful emotions and ultimately we end up feeling pretty overwhelmed at times. This is not to say we are not coping; we are perhaps, just feeling pretty lonely in it all. Adventure Steps is an approach to parent and carer support that integrates forest trails, physical activity, supportive therapy and time in nature. Our purpose is to empower parents to adventure with their infants or children so they may build confidence to do this in the outdoors. Further to this we offer a supportive space for you to share your experiences and access pathways to further support if needed. Please visit our website https://www.rightfootforwardwa.com.au/adventure-steps-hikin for more information. Our next group will be happening Wednesday July 1st 2020. Please contact [email protected] to register.

16.01.2022 Thank you to our Wadandi Cultural Custodians and the Undalup Association for sharing their cultural knowledge with us all. We are very grateful for this.

14.01.2022 We have just returned from a great program with young people from JSW Training & Community Services RTO 0305 The season of Djilba provided us with spectacular wildflower colours and a variety of weather. The boys were captivated by the knowledge shared by Mitchella Hutchins of Waljin Consultancy. The young people worked together, encouraging and helping one another through new experiences and challenges. They were also very open and receptive to disconnecting from technology, and being present in nature. The group was able to sit and enjoy stillness and complete darkness for 10 minutes whilst caving. An amazing experience.

13.01.2022 It is a simple premise, and one as old as time. Get outside, actively move our bodies, work, connect with nature, and care for her. How we 'care for' matters. Reciprocity matters. By doing what is meaningful, ... by doing what is active and purposeful, by doing what is right for our planet, we too can find a way to restore ourselves. In all the different ways we define and formalise the 'therapy' one thing endures Nature nurtures us, as we too must nurture nature :)

12.01.2022 8 days in and we have definitely felt the clear cold nights. I just noticed the other day the Peppermint Tree ready to blossom, and so many of our Possum bush are in bloom, and we have many purple, yellow and white flowers. Thanks again to our Wadandi Cultural Custodians and the Undalup Association for sharing their cultural knowledge with us all.

11.01.2022 Right Foot Forward WA is a social enterprise that offers adventure therapy programs to adults, young people, and children. Delivered by outdoor specialists and therapy staff, programs range from one-day through to multi-day expeditions and are tailored to suit referrals from health services, schools, community groups and individuals. This page has been created to bring together individuals who have a passion for nature and are curious about taking therapy outdoors. Our approa...ch to nurturing resilience, building confidence and empowering people has developed from a passion for, and belief in, the valuable therapeutic outcomes gained from active, adventure-based experiences. Our programs acknowledge, respect and celebrate our indigenous custodians and are motivated by therapeutic principles of Ecopsychology, Ecotherapy, and Bush Adventure Therapy theory and practice. Bush Adventure Therapy is a diverse field of practice combining active adventure experiences and outdoor, natural environments with an overall intention to achieve therapeutic outcomes for those involved (Australian Association for Bush Adventure Therapy, 2019). This field of practice has grown from a common understanding that a nurturing reciprocity between person and nature is a necessary condition for both to survive and indeed thrive. For us at Right Foot Forward WA we understand Bush Adventure Therapy to be an active, creative and integrative therapeutic approach that exists in nature and thrives through direct and meaningful relationship with it. We acknowledge that a dual healing and transformation exists in the relationship between humankind and the natural world. In practice, this fundamentally involves the application of therapeutic intention to active or adventurous activities that take place in natural environments. 02.01.2022 Why do you ride? To all the riders out there, I’d love your insights! There is increasing chatter about mountain biking and mountain bikers in my local community because of a proposed plan for trail development in our much-loved Manning Park. It has got me thinking about all sides of this debate and opened up a curiosity for learning more about why people ride. What pulls you outdoors and on to your bike?... It would be awesome if you could post a photo or comment that sums up your heart on this topic so we can start an important conversation about the real value in mountain biking for so many of us!

01.01.2022 A great solution to not feeding birds or any wildlife.
