16.01.2022 New vineyard! . We're well underway with building our winery (see regular updates on Insta stories) AND establishing our vineyard. . Lots of people have been asking "So where do your grapes come from now?" Good question.... . We moved to the #orangewineregion in 2010. Since then we've been making wine for a lot of local labels in our #winery and this still makes up the bulk of what we do. . The dream has always been to establish our own label, RIKARD Wines. . We've forged great relationships with local vignerons. We've been lucky enough to make wines from what we consider to be some of the best vineyards that this little wine region has to offer. . This unique opportunity has enabled us to purchase select parcels of fruit from some of these vineyards to produce our own wines. We also lease and fully manage another vineyard. We choose high altitude vineyards that produce grapes that will be similar to what we are about to plant in our 1050m ASL vineyard on Mount Canobolas. . 16.01.2022 We've had a few moments of grabbing each others hands in the past 3 months . . Drought, no vintage 2020 and COVID-19 have done their best to turn RIKARD Wines on it's head .... . We've just moved into our brand new winery on Mount Canobolas , our 2018 wines are just hitting their straps in bottle & our 2019 vintage wines (just blended & starting to taste like they may be our best vintage ever!) will be released in 6 months. . . When they decided to start their label, their loose busine...ss model was to make wine they wanted to drink and sell the rest. 12.01.2022 2 years ago a journalist @peagreenmedia asked to do a story with us. A friendship blossomed over wine, the great things happening in #orangensw and raising small children. We now consider Penny a great friend. . When Penny asked us last year to do a story on our relationship for @sydneymorningherald "The Two of Us" we were initially hesitant . A. We didn't think our relationship was that interesting.... B. We weren't sure we wanted the world knowing all the gritty details of our private lives. .
