24.01.2022 Re-discovering around Sydney, Captain Cook’s Landing Place. Have a good Tuesday!!

24.01.2022 Lots of things we’ve been taking for granted aren’t normal anymore. Travel is the biggest thing for me but I’m lucky that I still can enjoy playing soccer. I think I’m enjoying soccer more than before... Is there anything you’ve found that you enjoy or appreciate more in the last few months??

23.01.2022 It used to be that Tsuyu (rainy season) which is right now doesn’t cause as much damage as Typhoon season (Sep. & Oct.) does to Japan, but both hit harder and leave bigger damages behind each year. I sincerely hope damages be minimized by early evacuation and no more hard rain for a while... Please stay safe and healthy everyone!!

20.01.2022 Happy Jacaranda Sunday!!

19.01.2022 Tonight, I'm looking forward to watching Monty Don's Japanese Gardens episode 2 (autumn) on ABC from 7:30. If you'd like to watch episode 1, you can watch from the below. It had many scenes from Kyoto with Sakura cherry blossoms, moss gardens near where I grew up, and some Zen gardens. I'll watch with Ocha (tea) and Senbei (rice crackers)... Have a good weekend!!

19.01.2022 Happy October!! Lately, I appreciate my kitchen knife and my coffee cup more because I can’t travel... Do you have any of your favourite items from Japan which you use or see in your everyday life? I’d like to make a new tour which is filled with something to do with those for 2022. Any comments or/and photos of your items are welcome!!

18.01.2022 I had an online meeting with the group who made this video about the north east coast of Japan. It's the area severely affected by the Tsunami exactly 10yrs ago tomorrow. It's also the area of "Michinoku Coastal Trail" where we'd like to develop a new walking tour. Even though we can't leave Australia yet, we're getting ourselves ready to provide more options to our fellow travellers, something deep and different. What do you think? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSdLdKXdUAI&feature=youtu.be

18.01.2022 This morning, I ran a half marathon at Port Macquarie 6mins faster than last year. What made me feel even happier was the atmosphere of this running festival organised by many volunteers. So many running festivals had to be canceled last year due to COVID-19. This year, I hope runners, families & supporters can enjoy more of these events. Have a good rest of your Sunday everyone!!

16.01.2022 Thinking my friends and fellow travellers in Victoria... I hope we all can enjoy haru (spring) once Magnolia flowers have fallen and Jacaranda is ready to bloom. Stay safe and healthy everyone!!

16.01.2022 Last night, I was one of the many to watch the first Live Penguin TV from Phillip Island. They’re wild and just amazing. I used to work as a driver guide in Melbourne and I spent many cold nights at the beach there with Japanese travellers waiting for penguins... It was always worth waiting for. It’s not exactly the same experience but you can enjoy seeing them from the below link and I’ll do it again from 6pm tonight!! www.penguins.org.au/virtual/live-penguin-tv/ LiveTV65

16.01.2022 My fellow travellers/ potters in NZ who have joined my Earth & Fire ceramics tour sent us their own beautiful potteries. We’ll enjoy Nuru kan (warm sake) with them tonight. Ookini Frank san & Betty san!! Earth & Fire ceramics tour: www.rikistoursjapan.com.au/earth--fire-tour.html

15.01.2022 What’s your favourite flower in summer? I like Himawari (sunflower). Thanks to Himawari, I see more bees in my garden and Sensei (our cat) seems a bit happier (?) too...

13.01.2022 Ohayo!! I like Leonie san's watercolour very much and I just wanted to share her works with our fellow travellers this Monday morning .

11.01.2022 "Sugoi (how wonderful) !!" Our fellow traveller, who joined Shinetsu Trail tour last year, named Shinetsu for her fundraising team of the 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 25 Oct., so Jason & I have decided to join this team. Probably, we all know someone died of cancer. In my case, I'll be thinking about my father and my dear friend Yee Yee while walking... Join or support Team Shinetsu if you can. Ookini~

09.01.2022 In less than a month, Sakura will start blooming in Japan. This video of Sakura in Hirosaki is wonderful and it reminds me all the great Sakura trips I took with my fellow travellers. No Sakura tours this year, but I'm looking forward to sharing Sakura in 2022 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFjEYf1Y7x0&t=36s

07.01.2022 Tomorrow, a bit over 11 million registered voters (more than Sydney & Melbourne population combined) will decide who's going to lead Tokyo for next 4 years. Most likely, the current governor Yuriko Koike will win, but I'm curious to know how much votes go to those candidates who insist immediate cancel of Olympic & Paralympic, also how many percentages of voters will actually vote. It's not compulsory voting system in Japan and 59.73% of 11,083,306 in Tokyo voted the last one in 2016. Have a good weekend!!

06.01.2022 Over the last two days, we enjoyed walking around Warrumbungle National Park. 7 years ago, 95% of this park was burnt down in bush fires. It was great to see not only the great panoramic views but the nature here rejuvenating once again. Happy walking and stay safe everyone!!

04.01.2022 Here is a wonderful video that covers Japan's 47 prefectures in a bit over 2min. Although the leaders of each prefecture have little power today, in the samurai era most had a different feudal lord, so each prefecture has particular characteristics in food & culture. The scenery varies greatly too. How many of them have you visited before?? https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=302629070821781
