25.01.2022 Fly strike is a huge issue for many animals in Australia especially in domestic live stock, often result in blood poisoning and an excruciating death as animals are eaten alive by maggots. One of the easiest ways to prove to fly strike in sheep is through marking them (removing the tail) as lambs. This means that the tail doesn’t get matted in faeces to provide a perfect place for fly’s to lay their eggs. Although marking doesn’t eliminate the risk of fly strike, it dose re...duce it dramatically.
