13.03.2022 As many of you may be aware some heartless and callous thieves have stolen 2 of Riding For the Disabled horses recently. These beautiful animals are specially trained to bring hours of enjoyment and fulfilment to children with disabilities. The value of these animals is priceless but the cost to replace them is extremely difficult for this wonderful organisation. Please help if you can. Details are contained in the flyer below.

06.03.2022 From our famous container convoy in the 1980's to our very last delivery last week , Teermans Transport have helped carry our produce wherever and whenever we've needed them to. Nothing was ever too difficult and there was always a way to make it work. So with much sadness this loyal and enduring partnership has come to an end. Those "green trucks from Leeton" have been parked for the very last time. And the produce industry has lost another family owned, loyal and dedicated... business which for many years has played a massive part in the growth and development of Leeton and surrounding towns. The Teerman family have not only built a legacy in Leeton but have been and will always be dedicated to their Leeton community and dedicated to the businesses that have relied on them to carry their cargo to and from Leeton and Griffith. We would like to wish Royce & Cheryl,Dale,Kim,Greg,Bruce, all the staff and drivers, yardies and their families all the best for the future. After so many years together saying goodbye is not easy but we will always be grateful for the loyalty and friendship we have had for the last 30 years. Farewell , best wished and good luck to all See more

18.02.2022 It's the age old question.....Why are oranges green in summer? The answer is simple.... Valencia oranges grow during the long, hot summer months and of course, they are exposed to more sunlight. This sun exposure triggers a production of CHLOROPHYLL in the peel turning the orange green. We called it "regreening". THIS REGREENING HELPS PROTECT THE FRUIT FROM GETTING SUNBURNT.... Just like we protect ourselves by putting on sunscreen, the orange does it naturally. Green tinged oranges are ripe and sweet as any orange coloured orange. The regreening does not effect the taste, sweetness or juice content. So.... if your doing your shopping and the oranges look a little..or lot...green , don't overlook them. You know the old saying....."It's not easy being green!!!!!! See more

Have you thought of Spaghetti with Vegetables instead. Try a Pesto Spaghetti with pumpkin or a Pumpkin and Sage Spaghetti, a Creamy Roast Pumpkin Pasta or even a Pumpkin, Spinach and Walnut Spaghetti. ENJOY !!!!

23.12.2021 HOPING FOR YOUR HELP - FROM GRANT HEARN We are all very excited to hear that good progress is being made of the radiotherapy facility in Griffith. The Federal ...Government has invested around $5million in life-saving infrastructure. Unfortunately the NSW Government has not committed to supporting this life-altering facility, which at some point could see each cancer patient who uses the Riverina Cancer Care centre in Griffith out of pocket by $480 per course of radiation therapy. This is currently the situation in Wagga. On February 20th 2021, Chief Operating Officer of Riverina Cancer Care Centre, Damien Williams, explained that other cancer centres in regional NSW can afford to bulk-bill patients for radiotherapy because those facilities are heavily supported by the state government, while the RCCC is not That does ask the question WHY NOT? Aren’t all NSW cancer patients needing life-saving radiotherapy, deserving of same parity of service and financial support? Why does it appear that some cancer patients are being discriminated against because of who provides the service which hopefully will save that life, or because of where they live? This is far more than $480. Not everyone has the money to pay the cost of radiotherapy up front and wait for the Medicare rebate. For most, once you’re at this stage of your cancer journey, this is not the first $480, rather it is another. Most people I know have by this stage been severely impacted financially by their cancer diagnosis and treatment. Submission number 173 from the INQUIRY INTO HEALTH OUTCOMES AND ACCESS TO HEALTH AND HOSPITAL SERVICES IN RURAL, REGIONAL AND REMOTE NEW SOUTH WALES, highlighted the following; Out of pocket costs ranked third in the most important issues for NSW to improve cancer care in regional areas. One in five people in regional NSW SKIPPED APPOINTMENTS or treatment because of out of pocket costs. Between 28% to 43% of cancer patients report financial distress or hardship because of costs associated with cancer treatment. Costs of cancer are responsible for psychological distress in 41% of people surveyed. These findings are very disturbing, more disturbing is the lack of support by the state government. Fortunately the solution is simple, should the state government choose it to be. The government will save an estimated $620 000 from less payments being made from the Isolated Patients Travel and Assistance Scheme (IPTASS). To ensure cancer patients utilising the new facility in Griffith, have free access, it would take an investment of around $600 000 per annum. Surely it is logical for that funding to be redirected, save angst for people going through possibly the most challenging period of their life and not for $480 see an individual not take up potentially life-saving treatment. We have seen incredible infrastructure investment in NSW in recent time, is not now time to invest just a fraction of that, in the saving of life? I am asking for everyone’s help. As NSW state MP for Murray, Helen Dalton, shared with us recently that a decision on funding by the NSW Government will be made in mid-January after consultation with MLHD. Please contact both Brad Hazzard’s office as well as MLHD and implore them to create a situation where all cancer patients can access free radiotherapy, and save an increasing number of lives. It would be appreciated if as many people as possible could share this post and encourage others to act. Brad Hazzard’s email is [email protected] and his phone is (02) 9981 1111 The MLHD email is: [email protected]
