23.01.2022 Today is International Day of The Older person and the staff at Ringwood Private Hospital chose to celebrate this with their patients and community to demonstrate our respect and commitment to care for our older society. We acknowledge that 2020 has been an extremely challenging year for our older generation who have faced so many adversities with grace and dignity. Today we provided our patients with a special morning tea and have developed an entertainment booklet to help our patients pass the time in hospital. Our aim was to demonstrate our commitment to excellent care for all our patients and to pay our respects to our older generation. We have so much to appreciate and learn from our older population. From the team at Ringwood Private Hospital.

13.01.2022 Thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot in a blood vessel. The vessel may be any vein or artery as for example, in a deep vein thrombosis (venous) or a coronary artery (arterial). The clot itself is called a thrombus. Once formed, a clot can slow or block normal blood flow, and even break loose and travel to an organ. A clot that travels to the circulation is called an embolism. Thrombosis is the often preventable underlying pathology of heart attack, thromboembolic strok...e, and venous thromboembolism (VTE), the top three cardiovascular killers. World Thrombosis Day (WTD) is an annual, global initiative to reduce death and disability from thrombosis, which kills one in four people worldwide. Through education and advocacy, WTD seeks to raise awareness of the causes, risk factors, signs/symptoms and evidence-based prevention and treatment of thrombosis among the public and health professionals alike. WTD is recognized every year on 13 October, the birthday of Rudolf Virchow, a German physician and pathologist who first developed and advanced the concept of thrombosis. Don't wait until tomorrow, open your eyes to thrombosis today.

11.01.2022 October, Australia’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, provides an opportunity for us all to focus on breast cancer and its impact on those affected by the disease in our community. Breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Australian women (excluding non-melanoma skin cancer). Survival rates continue to improve in Australia with 89 out of every 100 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer now surviving five or more years beyond diagnosis. 44 Victorian women are diag...nosed with breast cancer every day, but Australia leads the world in early stage breast cancer survival rates which are now 91% up from 74% twenty years ago. Take the time this month to find out what you need to know about breast awareness and share this important information with your family, friends and colleagues. For more information regarding Ringwood Private Hospitals "Rapid access Breast Clinic" Please call our clinic on 1800 774 774.

09.01.2022 We remember them Today is Remembrance Day when we traditionally observe a minute’s silence at 11am if our work allows. We do this in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. We remember particularly the nurses, doctors, orderlies, allied and mental health professionals who have served our country, including many among the more than 100,000 Australian service personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice. "They shall grow not old, as we that are left g...row old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them." See more

08.01.2022 It’s World Mental Health Day. Statistics show that 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness annually, yet many don’t seek help because of stigma. During the COVID-19 pandemic, prioritising mental health and wellbeing has been more important than ever. This World Mental Health Day October 10 the message is simple: Look after your mental health, Australia.... It might seem hard to focus on mental health and wellbeing at this time, but prioritising this is more important than ever.
