21.01.2022 2020 HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE AWARENESS WEEK 14-18 SEPTEMBER. This week we are going to bring you our best management tips for Headache... and Migraine relief. # TIP 1 - GOOD POSTURE Posture and Migraines... At the Headache and Migraine centre we work with our patients to provide the best Headache and Migraine solutions. Our extensive examination of the neck (Cervical spine) is performed using the Watson Approach, and the treatment and management program that follows is designed to achieve the best patient outcome. Improve Posture and reduce Migraines... Its surprising to realise how much of the day is spent looking down, this includes phone use and being on any computer. Often this can jam up the top part of your neck and leads to dysfunction in the top three joints of the neck. By learning how to correct your posture you can still work and use the devices you love without getting a migraine. The Watson Approach is the key to diagnosing the link between the upper neck and Migraines. We work with posture correction everyday and can show Headache and Migraine patients how simple postural adjustments can relieve and prevent Headaches and Migraines. 18.01.2022 The Migraine Free Weekend... It's Wednesday again and for some of us the weekend is approaching at a rapid rate. The fear of another weekend being a complete d...isaster battling a Migraine, can be overwhelming. The weekend Migraine is a pattern experienced by many. Let's work together to make sure next weekend is a Migraine free weekend. Reducing known triggers is the best place to start, and having a weekend plan is essential. Known triggers for a weekend Migraine include disrupted sleep pattern, fluctuation of stress levels, and altered caffeine, water and nutritional intake. When formulating a weekend Migraine plan make sure it includes:- *Predictable sleep pattern (go to bed and wake up at the same time). *Enjoy a morning coffee at the same time as the weekday coffee. *Eat breakfast and hydrate with water. *Minimise stress level changes by including exercise (low to moderate level) and fun weekend activities. To find out how we can help enjoy Migraine free weekends, call and speak with one of our practitioners today. At the Headache and Migraine Centre we use the Watson Approach to provide Headache and Migraine solutions. 17.01.2022 Migraine and Stress... The world has turned upside trying to minimise the COVID-19. On the ground level stress has hit an all time high and unfortunatly not ea...sing up. However, for Migraine patient's, an increase in attacks is common when under stress. Stress can trigger a Migraine attack before, during, but most often, after an event. Stress is an unavoidable part of life that triggers a fight or flight response in our brains. When under stress (just like during the christmas period), corticosteroid hormones are released in our brain, which could block pain. When a stressful event is over, the corticosteroid hormones drop, leaving our brain vulnerable to a Migraine attack. With no slowing down of this crazy situation, try to use these strategie's to reduce the chance of a Migraine attack:- *Regular relaxation breaks during a stressful or busy time, even very short ones, can keep your stress hormones from yo-yoing and can protect against stress-related Migraine. *60 seconds of watching a funny video can release oxytocin and other calming hormones. This can protect against stress-related Migraine. *Increases in physical activity, like exercise, can be beneficial. Getting some fresh air by walking, or even walking up and down a couple of flights of stairs, while it may sound activating, actually helps combat the stress hormones. *As always try to sleep well, eat well, and stay hydrated. Book and appointment now or call 0449 610 545 to get more information on how we can help best manage Migraine duing this stressful time. www.headacheandmigrainecentre.com.au #migraine, #headache, #stress, #stressmigraine, #Watsonapproach, #painrelief, #osteopath, #posture,

15.01.2022 Be Part Of The Solution There has been a lot of information floating around about COVID-19, and as business owners, Osteopaths, and members of the community we feel obliged to arm ourselves with the current FACTS and act on these Facts to ensure we are providing you with the best and safest possible service. We as Allied Health Care Providers are still OPEN so we can keep you, our chronic and acute patients as healthy as possible(especially if you are working on ...the front line in this difficult time). To remain OPEN so you can keep going we have added a few extra measures and some of things we have put in place include- RSI inducing cleaning removing unnecessary objects from the treatment rooms and reception area encouraging cashless transactions extra hand washing procedures limiting numbers in the reception area As always, our priority is to provide you with the best OSTEOPATHIC care we can in whichever way is available. If you are unable to come in to the clinic for any reason please call or message us and we can provide you with a management plan (we are in the process of setting top for TELEHEALTH to fill the gaps in treatment plans - stay tuned) Stay Well and all the best from the team here at RINGWOOD & Warrandyte Osteopathy.

14.01.2022 We are with you during this time and urge you to look after your mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. Now is great time to adopt some of our simple tips: *... Mind your "forward-thinking" thoughts. Those "what if's". Focus on the NOW and the blessings you have at this present moment. * Get your news from government sources ONLY. Popular news stories are often appealing to the fears we harbour and make those fears stronger, louder and a whole lot worse. * Get to know your neighbours and local groups so you can plan to collaborate and help each other out over the next few months. * Download a meditation app - calm or smiling mind are great * Take a walk, ride or skate in a park, sit in a garden or climb a tree (Always maintaining a safe 1.5m distance from others of course!) * download and use "zoom" to keep in touch with your family and friends. Zoom is an online platform that allows you to connect "face-to-face" via videolink. It's great. * kick off your shoes, stand or lie on the grass and listen to your favourite tunes. * learn a new skill or take up a hobby

Our primary goal is to be part of the solution rather than the problem and we are committed to the health and safety of our staff and patients. 02.01.2022 2020 HEADACHE AND MIGRAINE AWARENESS WEEK 14-18 SEPTEMBER This week we are bringing you our best management tips for Headache and Migr...aine. # Tip 4 - Good Exercise Improve Exercise Habits and reduce Migraines... As part of the ongoing management program, we encourage following a healthy exercise program. Exercise or physical exertion can be a Migraine trigger for some, and this alone can increase stress and anxiety and bring exercise levels down to zero. However, low to moderate exercise has been shown to improve mood, lower stress levels, and may even halt or reduce the severity of a migraine attack. Taking steps to reduce the chance of an attack before exercise can help: - Eat a snack within two hours exercising - Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate before, during, and after exercise - Start small, a 10 minute walk and gradually increase the time and the distance - Avoid exercising at weather change times, extreme temperatures or when pollution is high - Consider gentle forms of exercise like walking, tai chi, yoga, swimming, or cycling Adequate exercise habits are part of the solution to effective Migraine prevention. Start today with better exercise habits and develop a daily exercise plan. At the Headache and Migraine centre we recognise that Headache and Migraine disorders are complex and unique to each individual. We work with our patients to provide the best Headache and Migraine solutions. Our extensive examination of the neck (Cervical spine) is performed using the Watson Approach, and the treatment and management program that follows is designed to achieve the best patient outcome. The Watson Approach is the key to diagnosing the link between the upper neck and Migraines. We work with patients everyday and provide exercise programs that can relieve and prevent Headaches and Migraines.
