25.01.2022 We have a busy weekend coming up - with our Open Saturday - November and then Messy Play Day on Sunday where we will be manning the sausage sizzle and a stall with kits for kids to make - just the thing for some summer fun.

16.01.2022 Please be advised that due to the current situation with Covid-19 we have made the difficult but responsible decision to close our shed for the time being. Generally speaking, human beans need contact with other human beans and Social Distancing is a strange concept to most of us. That’s why we like to hang around in the Shed as much as we do. Not only have we lost the facility of the Shed, but most of us have probably lost the opportunity for other face-to-face community ...connections, which can make this difficult time more difficult . There was an interesting article in yesterday’s Age newspaper on this topic. Hugh Mackay, a social researcher, is quoted as saying We belong to a social species, and being cut off from the herd is deeply unnatural for us. The President of the Australian Psychological Society, Ros Knight, was also quoted and she said that When something is unknown and threatening we want to take control, so the question is how we do that. Beyond Blue has some excellent advice for us all as we deal with SD and the coronavirus outbreak -it’s summarised below:. Try to maintain perspective: Try to remember that medical, scientific and public health experts around the world are working hard to contain the virus, treat those affected and develop a vaccine as quickly as possible. Find a healthy balance in relation to media coverage: While it’s important to stay informed, you may find it useful to limit your media intake if it is upsetting you or your family. Access good quality information: It’s important to get accurate information from credible sources such as those listed below. This will also help you maintain perspective and feel more in control. Australian Government coronavirus (COVID-19) health alert World Health Organization coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak Try to maintain a practical and calm approach Try not to make assumptions: Try to remember that the coronavirus can affect anyone regardless of their nationality or ethnicity, and remember that those with the disease have not done anything wrong. Managing your mental health while in self-isolation or quarantine Remember that the best brains in the world are trying to find a cure for the virus Remember that your effort is helping others in the community to avoid contracting the virus. Stay connected with friends, family and colleagues via email, social media or telephone. Engage in healthy activities that you enjoy and find relaxing. Keep regular sleep routines and eat healthy foods. Try to maintain physical activity. It’s OK to take a walk in the park, just keep a couple of metres away from others you pass on the journey Establish routines as best possible and try to view this period as a new experience that can bring health benefits. Avoid news and social media if you find it distressing. For the full article, go to Beyond Blue’s website https://www.beyondblue.org.au//looking-after-your-mental-h
