16.01.2022 This Hyundai Trajet v6 came in for a minor service. We noticed the coolant in the recovery bottle was just below the minimum level. This situation can be easily overlooked by Inexperienced mechanic by just topping up the coolant recovery bottle, which actually a water pump leak! This can cause serious engine problem in anytime soon. The crankshaft seal leak was also found after we took out the timing cover. Water pump, crankshaft seal and timing belt needed to be replaced due... to the contamination to the timing belt. 08.01.2022 Back to January we had this 2009 Audi a4 1.8 having timing chain issue. The timing chain tensioner is a well known issue and had been recalled in some other countries but unfortunately not in Australia. The front bumper, front light housing, wirings, cooling system, transmission cooling pipe, drive belt had to be removed/disconnected before removing the timing cover. Besides following the standard procedures of a timing chain/timing chain tensioner/timing chain guide replac...ement, the camshaft adjuster must also be checked otherwise catastrophic engine failure can happen. Special tool is also needed for most of the European car engine repair like this one otherwise some "fragile" parts can easily be damaged. 06.01.2022 Mini Cooper S came in for a service with engine check light on. We got a fault code with the high pressure fuel pump which is super common on this N14 turbo engine. Further Live data diagnostic showing actually fuel pressure not matching desire fuel pressure so we can 100% confirm the faulty HPFP. Customer took the car back with smile even this genuine part cost nearly $2000!
