25.01.2022 One of our most recent 'colourful' members, Netna, recently welcomed her newborn baby girl to the World. Zoey Loanna Johnstone was born on 2 August 2020. Ringwood Toastmasters congratulates Netna and Darren, and hopes to see them back at the club one day in the future.
24.01.2022 The masters of presentation were at it again earlier this week. I’ve always been inspired by the way Apple is able to present to their market, since the 1980s. Nobody comes even close. As great as Apple presenters are presenting on stage to large audiences, this #WWDC2020 keynote was small scale; almost one-on-one, using smaller screens. Have fun evaluating each speaker, if you can. ... https://tv.apple.com//wwd/umc.cmc.54m67p6y1anwos34dojt57fw
13.01.2022 Last night the Table Topic question was, "What would you see at the Festival of Dangerous Ideas?" Many of us thought it was a made up idea. But here it is. In Sydney!! https://festivalofdangerousideas.com/
11.01.2022 This week's edition of The Toastie (the Ringwood Toastmasters newsletter) has landed in mailboxes, with a heap of information for the upcoming #1022 meeting, a review of the last meeting, the Toastie Challenge, and other fantastic content. Send us a message if you would like a copy of The Toastie in your mailbox. Simon - VPPR
10.01.2022 Thank you members and guests for another awesome Ringwood Toastmasters Zoom meeting. Meeting #1019 was Toastmasters by Joanne with a theme of 'Dreams'. With the word of the day being 'Incredible', Table Topics masters, Alan, provided four incredible topics for Derek, Karen, Dinesh, and Sue to challenge themselves with for 1-2 minutes. Congratulations Sue, for being voted as best Table Topics Speaker.... Well done Simon for his prepared speech, 'We Matter', and David for his prepared speech 'Well done for the year'. Thank you Karen and Dinesh for being guests. We hope you enjoyed the meeting. We look forward to Meeting #1020 being our Tall Tales event, and leadership group change over.
08.01.2022 In the coming weeks, Ringwood Toastmasters will be calling for bi-annual membership renewal fees. Although we haven't been able to have our traditional group meetings, the value that Ringwood Toastmasters provides continues to be excellent. In the short time since current and previous restrictions were in place, we have improved immensely. In the beginning, many of us were perhaps unsure how to effectively use the new video medium. It is now the new normal, and allows us to ...refine skills that will help us all in our professional and personal lives. Being a Ringwood Toastmasters Club member provides excellent value, with benefits that cannot be easily obtained in any other way. An experienced Ringwood Toastmaster once described his membership experience: "I have attended many professional training sessions and conferences that cost in excess of thousands of dollars, that never provided what Toastmasters can, for a fraction of the price." Renewing memberships on time greatly assists the club to meet Toastmasters International objectives, that have previously seen the Ringwood Toastmasters Club being awarded the highest recognition of being a President's Distinguished Club.
03.01.2022 Let’s make those Toastmasters Zoom meetings even better.
02.01.2022 It's almost that time of the year: Tall Tales time! Let me take the time to introduce Tall Tales, for those new to Ringwood Toastmasters. The Tall Tales contest is 3 to 5 minutes in length, with the subject for the Tall Tales speech being of a highly exaggerated, improbable nature, with a theme or plot. Humour and props may be used to support or illustrate the speech.... An objective of a Tall Tales speech is to convince the audience of your subject or story, whether it be fact or fiction. After all speeches are concluded, we will determine if each speech was true or false, and vote for the best Tall Tales speaker; of which there is a perpetual trophy awarded. As your Tales Tales master, I welcome and encourage all members to participate with a speech. The Tall Tales night is one of the most enjoyable nights in the calendar, and always promises a good laugh.
