02.01.2022 So you have met two of the 3 owners of Rio Futaleufú rafting Mauricio Gallardo San Martin and Michelle Lloyd now its time to meet the last but not least Sharon Gallardo San Martin ..... Sharon was born and raised on a small cereal farm on the Victorian / South Australia border - dry and dusty country with no water.....how she grew a passion for white water one will never know. Right from a young age Sharon loved going camping, hiking and exploring with her family on their... family holidays. After completing school Sharon went on to do a Bachelor of Arts in Outdoor Education at LaTrobe University in Bendigo, Victoria (Australia) to continue her passion for the great outdoors and get her first taste of white water kayaking. As soon as her time at university was completed she jumped on a plane to the USA and Canada for her first international adventures to begin. Sharon completed an intensive 3 week rafting course with REO Rafting and after the course got a job for the summer with them...from here she never looked back as it was working here that she met her future husband Mauricio. From here Mauricio and Sharon worked season by season going between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres chasing the rafting season (Costa Rica, Honduras, Chile) before settling in Mission Beach, Northern Queensland so they could raft year round on the Tully River, for Sharon this was her pinnacle in guiding and even becoming a trip leader before stopping to starting a family of their own. Over the past 8 years Sharon's days have predominately been taken up being a Mum and sharing the awesome outdoors with her children and now is the local Postie in Mission Beach. Last year Sharon was privileged to paddle for the Australian Womens Rafting team in the World Rafting Championships on the Tully River the river she knows most intimately. Whilst never raced before she was given a place due to her experience on the water and more specifically on the Tully, the experience was one to remember. Sharon's love for Chile is beyond measure with her love growing each time she visits. Her extensive travel through Patagonia has also definitely helped with this...now she is just as excited as her husband Mauricio to be starting the business of their dreams in Futaleufú, Chile Mauricio's home town and home river. This country and this place is amazing....Bring it on the next adventure and chapter in our lives! The 3 of us are all looking forward to sharing Futaleufú, Patagonia - Chile with you.....come join us!!!
