23.01.2022 Our job this weekend. No use planting if the rabbits will have a good feed, so a small discouragement going up. Half the property will have proper rabbit proof fencing in a few weeks but then comes the eradication of those inside the fence.
22.01.2022 Putting some horse manure down to be rotary hoed in where we will plant the Rosellas The manure has sat for a few years.
20.01.2022 Mowing the tree paddock
18.01.2022 Our little greenhouse is looking quite full at the moment. Bush Tomatoes (Solanum centrale), Rosella (Hibiscus) and Acacia victoriae. There are a few Wild tomato also (Solanum orbiculatum).
17.01.2022 We have some Acacia victoriae seedlings.
15.01.2022 We are a bit excited at Ripannleigh Farm. Our rabbit proof fencing has finally started to be erected. Thanks to Trevor at Inline Fencing & Mechaincal Repairs. No use planting to feed the pests, so half the property will be fenced. Will post some progress photos tomorrow and as it all comes together Our neighbours have been great, allowing us to put the fencing on their boundaries, making sure their livestock is moved so the old fences can be removed and the special fencing put up.
13.01.2022 Some of our older Bush Tomato (Solanum centrale) plants looking good and getting their first flowers. Fingers crossed for some fruit. The small crop will be planted in the next few weeks.
13.01.2022 Bit of a busy weekend on farm. We planted a few native trees around the farm, including two Raspberry Jam Wattles. All have to be rabbit proofed at the moment. We also planted out another 15 Bush Tomato (Solanum centrale) in the garden bed with our other mature plants. Have also planted six Geraldton Wax shrubs. Come on all you bees and beneficial insects. Come on Bush Tomatoes. Didn’t quite get to planting out our next lot of seeds, domestics got in the way and a callout for Leigh. Will transplant some seedlings this week and get the new seeds in.
13.01.2022 Today we didn’t plant any Bush Tomatoes (Solanum centrale), instead we are trying our hand at germinating and growing some Acacia victoriae. Thanks to Shea Watt, I soaked the seed overnight and today we could already see some germinating as we planted them. Total of 160 tubes planted.
12.01.2022 Happy Wattle Day!
06.01.2022 One of our neighbours. He is a fine specimen.
