24.01.2022 BIG W has today announced the launch of a new initiative BIG W Rap Books developed by M&C Saatchi Sydney. BIG W Rap Books is a fun series, which takes some of Australia’s most-loved children’s rhyming books and turns them into playful, fun raps for families to enjoy. BIG W Rap Books will be housed on BIG W’s Big Days at Home hub, with tracks being released from Thursday 1 October to Sunday October 4. Tracks will also be available across digital and social media and all majo...r music streaming platforms including Spotify, Amazon and Apple Music. Additionally, families are invited to give rapping a go with some fun karaoke versions of Jessica and Tom’s raps. For every listen on Spotify and YouTube, royalties will be donated to Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation, an organisation that shares BIG W’s commitment to raising literacy levels in Australia. 03.01.2022 Attention RVSS families. The West Moreton Public Health Unit has been advised of a large number of cases of gastrointestinal illness "gastro" (vomiting/diarrhoea) at RVSS. The West Moreton Public Health Unit has provided the following information to assist in preventing further cases of illness at the school: 1. Any child or staff member who has had vomiting or diarrhoea should stay at home and not attend the school until they have recovered and had no symptoms of "gastro" ...for a minimum of 48 hours. 2. If you or your child is unwell, please see your doctor. In the presence of any diarrhoea (runny poo) and or vomiting, it is requested that faecal (poo) and/or vomitus samples be collected for laboratory testing. Please take this letter with you when you consult with your doctor. 3. Washing hands with soap and water after using the toilet, attending to ill people and before preparing or eating food are important hygiene measures. We will continue to implement extra measures to prevent further spread of the illness at RVSS. If you have any further questions please contact your child's teacher.

01.01.2022 This term as part of PBL we will start a series of growth mindset lessons. A growth mindset is the belief that intelligence can be developed. Students with a growth mindset understand they can get smarter through hard work, the use of effective strategies, and help from others when needed. It is contrasted with a fixed mindset: the belief that intelligence is a fixed trait that is set in stone at birth. Students’ beliefs about intelligence have important consequences for how... they experience school and how they respond to setbacks and adversity. When students hold a fixed mindset, school can be a threatening place because they may be worried about proving their ability or avoiding looking dumb. This can lead students to avoid challenges and give up when they struggle. But when students hold a growth mindset, they may experience school as an exciting place to grow, embracing challenges as opportunities to develop mastery. See more
