21.01.2022 The Borough of Queenscliffe is encouraging residents to have their say on the development of the municipality’s first-ever Climate Emergency Response Plan (CERP) via a new survey, launched today. Community Consultation for the plan will also include the formation of randomly-selected panel of 30 people, who’ll participate in a series of workshops. This is the next step following Council’s Climate Emergency Declaration in December. Ultimately, the plan we put in place will ...not only affect us living in the Borough today, but also the children and the grandchildren of future generations, said BoQ CEO Martin Gill. That's why I’m encouraging every local and every property owner to take a moment out of their day to provide us with feedback that will help limit the impacts of climate change and preserve our special coastline for decades to come. Here’s the survey link: queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/cerp And if you want to be part of the panel, register via this link: sortitionfoundation.org/queenscliffe2020

"The Hot Rods event won’t be running this year, and large gatherings are still restricted to reduce the spread of coronavirus. That said, visitors are still welcome in the Borough while they abide by coronavirus restrictions, and we’re continuing to remind visitors of the need to wash their hands, stay 1.5m apart and avoid crowds while visiting the Borough. "We’ve alerted Victoria Police that there may be a large number of visitors in our community this weekend, and they’ll be increasing their patrols over the weekend to ensure large gatherings aren’t occurring. 03.01.2022 The BoQ is cracking down on people walking dogs off-lead, warning of increased patrols and an on-the-spot $165 fine. Dogs are required to be leashed in public at all times and, as per previous years, the times for having dogs on beaches (other than Narrows Beach) change at the start of summer. Keeping your dog leashed protects your dog from fast-moving traffic, prevents damage to sensitive wildlife and avoids unpleasant interactions with people and animals, said CEO Marti...n Gill I want to thank the vast majority of local dog owners who already do the right thing, and remind others that a new lead for your dog is much cheaper than a fine.
