02.01.2022 I hear far too often how people literally avoid the sun...at all costs! I have never come across this in all my life, until I came to Australia. Understandably so, with Australia's exceptionally high risk for cancers...but maybe the sun isn't the enemy after all??? Maybe, just maybe, it boils down to the food we eat and the water we drink and the lifestyles we lead (me planting the seed of knowledge). This post is not to advise you about the research on skin cancers and the h...arms of 'general sunscreen' or to educate you on all things sunlight... This post is purely to advise you that the sun is a necessary component to our health...to our existence! Put a plant in a dark room for 6 weeks and see what happens... Now please don't be stupid and get sun burnt...but be wise and get enough sunlight exposure for your body to have sufficient vitamin D, which is in turn needed for calcium and strong bones, at the bare minimum. Generally, a daily dose 10-20 minutes of full sunlight, with as little clothes as possible, and no sun blockers, is recommended, depending on your complexion - the fairer your skin, the less time required for adequate exposure, the darker your skin complexion, the more time is needed. 10 minutes in the sun won't give you skin cancer, but it might just make you that little bit healthier.
