23.01.2022 Here is what Sunday afternoon looked like in 1970 at the Rising Sun Hotel. The photo below is of the Sheehan brothers in the backyard of the Rising Sun. It looks like it may have been taken during the cooler months given the turtle neck jumpers.

16.01.2022 And just like that, another year of Sheehan ownership of the Rising Sun Hotel has passed. 67 years within the hospitality landscape of Bendigo. 67 years of being one of Bendigo’s well known hotels. 67 years of the classic Sheehan family hospitality being in Bendigo. ... Everybody in Bendigo and surrounds would have a memory of the Riser over the years, with some of the notable ones being that it was a place to come and you knew you would be looked after by Vincent or Irene, or that it was a disco back in the day when the men of Bendigo would come here because it was where the nurses would come, or that Paul was the bouncer on the door and Pat remarking that he used to have to save Paul from more fights than he stopped. Or how about when the pub was transformed into a notable eatery of Bendigo, one of the first for its time, being booked out every night. This is the Rising Sun Hotel over 67 years of Sheehan family ownership. So come on in and support this wonderful family as they have supported each and every one of you over their 67 years. Times are tough with COVID-19 being around, but one thing that will always remain constant, is that you will always be treated like a friend of the Sheehan’s once you step foot in the pub. Here are some photos of the wonderful Sheehan family, without them we wouldn’t know the Rising Sun like it is today. We’ve thrown in a sneaky baby photo of Pat too. Ssh don’t tell him.

15.01.2022 Don’t forget, we are open tomorrow lunch for your takeaway needs for Dad on his special day. Cooking from 11-2pm and then again from 5-8pm. We have the bottleo to grab a sneaky brewsky with your Parma, and all contactless service! Cannot go wrong! ... Order via calling us on 54413833, or check out our menu on our website, www.risingsunhotel.com.au and you can go from there.

15.01.2022 This is our reality at the moment, a Saturday evening where we usually have no tables to spare and currently we have as many patrons that you can count on your hands. We have had to turn many people away due to the new regulations in place, which breaks our hearts. The hospitality industry is really going to suffer with the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic. ... We are following all of the necessary guidelines given to us by the government and by the Australian Hotels Association to keep you safe. What we ask of you is to still support the hospitality businesses in town. Your friendly neighbourhood pubs, your usual restaurants or your local take outs, we need your support as much as we can get during this difficult time. Come buy some takeaway food to take home, as nearly every venue is now offering this service. And know that you are keeping some of the little guys such as uni students, your favourite waitress who makes you feel at home every time you come in, the waiter who goes the extra mile and knows exactly what you want before you even order it, or the bartender who has your drink ready before you even take a seat, in a job. Support the small guys, support your awesome hospitality venues and people. We all need to get through this together. Takeaway available every day when we are cooking. Lunch 12-2 Dinner 6-8:30.

14.01.2022 Spend your Sunday at the Rising Sun with a nice bottle of Sandhurst Ridge Winery .

11.01.2022 And just like that our on premise operations have once again concluded in preparation for lockdown 2.0. Don’t forget, we are offering takeaway meals starting tomorrow evening from 5-8pm, Wednesday to Sunday during the course of this lockdown. Call 54413833 or visit our website to place your order. ... During these times, don’t forget to stay home, if you have to leave home to go to the supermarket or work or come pick up take away from us, wear your mask, socially distance and wash your hands. We are all in this together and the only way we can come out the other side is if we do what we need to do to flatten the curve. Support the many local hotels and eateries around Bendigo offering takeaway or heat and eat meals to keep our renowned eatery town, going. We stole this from The Belmont Hotel’s Facebook page, for a Wednesday COVID-19 funny, so hope you enjoy. We hope to see you all for a takeaway meal with a healthy side of social distancing and mask banter. Stay safe Bendigo.

11.01.2022 To all of our patrons, we just wanted to advise you that your health and safety is our utmost priority during these times. We are currently forgoing setting tables of cutlery, rather setting them for you as you arrive, and sticking to and implementing a very strict hygiene routine for the venue and staff to adhere to in order to help put you, our customers minds at ease, and to help slow the spread of COVID-19 within our community. We have a take away option available for o...ur meals, if you feel the need to, which we have always had available to you with the bottleshop there too it’s a guarantee of your steak and wine for the evening. These are very unprecedented times, and there is currently no end in sight, so remember to shop local, buy from small businesses, and support each other. We will get through this together.

09.01.2022 We have been open again for a week now, and we just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to the community for their support. It has been overwhelming the response to our reopening and gives us plenty of joy. Well done Bendigo, you guys all rock for supporting us, and the many hospitality venues around town during this time. Every industry has been hit hard, however the hospitality one will take a long time to recover and be back to normal, so any support from the community is awesome!!!

07.01.2022 Have you heard about the For the Love of Your Local initiative by Carlton United Breweries? It’s a wonderful initiative that CUB are doing to increase patronage and profit for your local pubs during these challenging times. So, the premise is that our customers head to the website for FTLOYL and purchases a voucher for beer that will then be sent to their email. They then can claim that very beer at their local venue of choice who is participating, to redeem their beer, bu...t that will also go towards your Local receiving some free kegs of beer from CUB. This is something everybody can get behind, as all hospitality venues are doing it tough in these times. We have signed up and would love if our amazing Rising Sun customers participate. Not only do you get beautiful, lovely, amazing tap beer from us, but we also can be in the chance to claim some free kegs. Win win for everybody involved. Head to https://loveofyourlocal.com.au to start your For the Love of Your Local adventure.

04.01.2022 Aaaand that’s a wrap for our on premise operations as per the new regulations by The Government. Thank you everybody for you patronage over the past few days. Our bottle shop is business as usual for the time being at least, so pop on in for your beersentials (or your life blood for the parents about to embark on lockdown with your children. ) ... Stay safe out there everybody. Very unprecedented times ahead for a lot of people. Remember, to look after each other, buy from and support small businesses as much as you can in these times. We will see you all as soon as we can reopen.

01.01.2022 What a cricket club! Congrats boys on another successful season. How lucky are we to sponsor a bunch of champions like these blokes?

01.01.2022 We are under a day away till our reopening and we are simply buzzing with absolute excitement to see everybody. With the reopening comes a few regulations that we are to adhere to, and will be highlighted to you right now. - On entry to the bistro, you will be asked to supply contact details for records in case another patron who was in the venue at the same time as you tests positive to Covid-19, you can then be contacted and informed by relevant health authorities. ... - Our Bistro has been changed to accomodate the limit of 20 customers allowed in the venue at the one time. As much as we love people just popping in, we cannot guarantee a table for you especially if we already have our limited capacity in. We encourage you to book, however if you do pop in without a booking, you will be happily met and sat if we have the ability to. - We can not sit anymore than 6 people at the one table, so if you for instance book a table for 10, you will be spread across two tables with the appropriate distancing in place. - We are unable to accomodate conversing between tables at this time also. If you see somebody you know having a lovely time with us, unfortunately we cannot allow you to go to their table and sit with them and chat. - We will be offering table service for all meal orders, however the bar will still be operating as per normal for you to approach to order your drink. You will not be able to stay at the bar and drink however. - All staff have been trained and informed to sanitise all surface areas within the venue every 30 minutes as we endeavour for you to not have a worry whilst you are having a meal with us. We are bound by these regulations to operate, and we will be doing our level best to make sure you enjoy your time with us, as we did prior to these unprecedented times. We cannot wait to see everybody once we reopen tomorrow morning for lunch from 11am-2:30pm and dinner from 5pm-8:30pm. If you’d like to book, please call on 54 413 833.

01.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day to all Mums out there today. We wish we were able to help make your day special by having you here for us to look after, but alas it is not to be this year. We hope you all have a wonderful day and get extra spoilt by your loved ones. ... Remember to keep up with the social distancing so we can resume our normal lives sooner rather than later. Have a wonderful day Mum!

01.01.2022 GUESS WHAT??? As of next Monday, 1st June we will be able to open for business. How exciting!! We have missed serving you all and hope we can see you as soon as our doors reopen. However, with the reopening comes regulations we must adhere to, to operate. ... - We can only have 20 of you in our bistro at the one time. - To cater to this, we will be running our lunch service from 11am-2:30pm and dinner from 5pm-8:30pm every day. This could change as we get more information from the Government and Australian Hotels Association as the situation is very fluid, but for now this is how we are going to operate. We are so excited to be back on deck as of Monday 1st June, and cannot wait to see all of our customers back at The Riser.
