25.01.2022 Stop T4 Rally and Street Parade. Coming up on the 16th of March. Put it in your dairy now! Saturday 16th March, 10am... Customs House, Newcastle (across the road from Newcastle Station). Parade to Civic Park. A fun, vibrant, colourful, and determined public demonstration against industry plans to more than double coal exports from the Hunter. Join people from all across NSW to say No! to more coal. You should come if: - You're a Newcastle resident who is sick of breathing in coal dust. - You're a farmer fighting the expansion of coal mining into agricultural land. - You live along the rail line in Newcastle or the Hunter Valley, and are sick of coal trains. - You've been told by politicians that a coal mine is coming to your community. - You're a citizen of NSW, who puts community health, democracy, and biodiversity before coal industry profits. - You're a citizen of the world, who wants to leave a liveable climate for our children. Please bring colourful props to demonstrate where you are from and why you want to stop T4. The demonstration is being organised by the Coal Terminal Action Group, an alliance of 18 community groups. Check out our websites: www.facebook.com/CoalTerminalActionGroup www.StopT4.org.au Don't forget to share the event page with your friends https://www.facebook.com/events/308381839280726/

24.01.2022 Check out this great community campaign. The Coal Terminal Action Group in Newy are raising funds to conduct air quality monitoring to find out how far coal dust spreads across Newcastle and how it's affecting the health of our community. Please donate if you can.... You can also help by sharing this post and spreading the word to your friends.

24.01.2022 This is a clarification that yesterday's powerful presence at the BHP Billiton AGM was not a Rising Tide event but a coalition of individuals and Environmental groups. Two Banners were deployed. Find out more at http://bhpbillitonwatch.net/. Well done to everyone involved.

23.01.2022 Check out this video wrap up of today's action at NSW Dept of Planning in Sydney against the 4th coal terminal planned for Newcastle. Thanks for all your great work Quit Coal and ALL of the activists involved.

22.01.2022 Presenting... the rally route for March 16! The rally starts just adjacent to Newcastle train station so we are encouraging people coming from the greater Sydne...y area, Central Coast, Lake Macquarie, Maitland and the Hunter Valley to catch the train in (check out timetables at cityrail.info). If you are coming from up Port Stephens way, the Ferry is a good option- you can park at Stockton. Much excitement! You can't see it on the map but the rally also goes past state MP for Newcastle Tim Owens office just before we turn left onto wheeler place - so there will be good opportunities for a photo showing community opposition to T4!

22.01.2022 Activists have closed down a coal haulage railway construction project in the NSW Hunter Valley, to protest the rapid expansion of the export coal industry and its impacts on public health and the environment.

21.01.2022 Rescue police have arrived onsite. Big presence for a small crew of activists.

21.01.2022 LIVE ACTION - DAY FOUR OF CONSECUTIVE ACTION: We're doing an action at NCIG coal port right now, and we will be here for a good few hours at least. We've got a public gathering outside the gates while two people are scaling their construction crane. STAY TUNED: Photos to come.

20.01.2022 The future of Newcastle and the Hunter is in our hands. Its time to choose between a healthy community or a fourth coal terminal. T4 would increase coal dust, asthma and lung disease. Its time to put the brakes on the coal boom until heal th impacts are understood and managed. More than 23,000 children attend school within 500m of the coal corridor and more coal would pass through T4 than is currently burnt in all of Australia's coal-fired power stations combined. Its time to tell Planning Minister Brad Hazzard and Member for Newcastle Tim Owen you dont support another coal terminal: http://stopt4.good.do/stopt4/tell-tim-and-barry/

19.01.2022 Look for our full page ad in today's Newcastle Herald.

15.01.2022 While not a Rising Tide Action this may still be of interest. A coalition of individuals and Environmental groups today showed a strong presence at the BHP Billiton AGM. Two Banners were deployed. Find out more at http://bhpbillitonwatch.net or http://beyondnuclearinitiative.com

15.01.2022 3 times as many Victorians are now employed in the solar industry as in the coal industry. One of these industries is fuelling climate change; one has a clean bill of health. It's not renewables v jobs, it's renewables = jobs! http://bit.ly/UiwLCn

10.01.2022 UNACCEPTABLE coal dust in our Suburbs. Coal Terminal Action Group spokeswoman Zoe Rogers says, "backyard testing" show readings from between Newcastle and Rutherford - as well as coal stockpiles - were way above the national safety standard. http://www.theherald.com.au//concerns-aired-on-cost-of-p/

10.01.2022 Help us promote the Stop T4 Rally - please post this image as your profile pic throughout January and February to promote the rally and show your opposition to T4. You can download it here: www.hcec.org.au/events/stop-t4-rally-and-street-parade.... 10.01.2022 For those in the area, come along and join us in a letterboxing blitz of the Newcastle Suburbs on Sunday 9th December. As you're probably aware, the NSW government is considering another coal loader for Newcastle (T4). Our best avenue to stop them? A huge show of opposition from the people of Newcastle! This is where you come in. The Coal Terminal Action Group has put together a new flyer to help spread the word and we need to get it out there.... If we get 50 volunteers to join our letterboxing blitz, in one afternoon we can cover over 10,000 households in the suburbs most affected by coal movements. - Meet at 2:30pm at Tighes Hill Public School (Elizabeth St) for a brief campaign update - Pick up your map, and we will head out to letterbox until 5pm (in pairs or solo) - Finish with a drink at the Wicko! Please RSVP to [email protected]

09.01.2022 While the courageous Jonathan Moylan was inside the ASIC building at his hearing today, there was a turnout of over 50 supporters, including local Maules Creek farmers, outside in a show of support. http://www.news.com.au//asic-/story-e6frfkur-1226560948509 Jono is doing a steller job of keeping the issue in the media too. Have a look at his opinion piece in today's Sydney Morning Herald. http://www.smh.com.au//potential-jailing-not-as-scary-as-t ... We support you Jonathan Moylan.

08.01.2022 Our climbers have now finished scaling the 60 metre crane and have unfurled a banner saying "Stop the coal rush, for health, water and climate".

05.01.2022 There is a direct action underway this morning with a tree-sitter stopping clearing in the Leard State Forest near Maules Creek. The action follows approval to quadruple the impact of their mine on the forest by Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke late yesterday afternoon.
