25.01.2022 Just a little thought to sleep on tonight. . Did you know, we have approximately 60,000 thoughts a day & that a whopping 80% ... are NEGATIVE. As soon as a situation is over, it is in the PAST, therefore, it is nothing more than a thought. Do you realise that our thoughts actually run our emotions. Do you realise that no situation or event, no matter how hard or heartbreaking it may be can make us think sad thoughts if we just choose not to... Nor has another person, the ability, to make us think anything other than our own thoughts. Just for tomorrow: Try NOT to attach any thoughts at all to any situation/event that u may experience for the entire day. It isn’t easy to do although if you practice doing this daily, your world will open up in magical ways. Below are examples of how our thoughts control our emotions, both negative & positive. Example 1. Your having a coffee with your best friend and you tell her: My Jack forgot my birthday today Does she (a) Ask if everything is ok between you both? (b) Ask How could he forget (c) Ask RU OK? This example sets up our emotional response to become negative & sad. * * * * * * * * * * * Example 2. Your having a coffee with your best friend and you tell her: My Jack loves me, he made me breakfast in bed 2day & insisted on spending 10 mins in the garden picking the perfect rose and then forgot my birthday Does she Ask: (a) Did you both have a giggle when u told him? (b) How special do u feel that he treats you like a queen everyday & breakfast in bed just because he loves u? (c) You must feel so happy? As you can see, when we attach thoughts to a situation, we have the power to direct the outcome to be either negative or positive, so just for tomorrow try this positivity challenge and see for yourself. 25.01.2022 Today is the start of a fresh new week, let’s take 2 mins to reflect on how we r feeling. It is a beautiful Monday morning and it’s just under 10 hours til lockdown ends. Are we all feeling a huge sense of relief, are we all getting that little bit excited as the clock gets closer to 6pm.... Are we all feeling like a horse at the starting post, ready to run loose wen the siren sounds, that 6pm silent siren. Our moods were so different on Friday, simply because of an announcement that we were in lockdown!! WELL NOTHING HAS CHANGED!! WE ARE STLL IN LOCKDOWN!! Although, just knowing 6pm is approaching seems to change everything. We find ourselves feeling brighter, lighter, making plans for the week again. 19.01.2022 R Your Beliefs Damaging? Saying: Spare the rod and spoil the child. Belief: Children who were spared the rod would be spoiled and that children’s wills must be broken in order for them to learn.... How many of us got the wooden spoon, belt, feather duster, electric cord, etc. What did this teach us? What did we learn? Unfortunately in the mental health field, there is a general consensus that like that of a boil that needs to be lanced, certain memories are toxic & must be ripped apart and talked about (often to a stranger with a degree) people are told that this is the ONLY way to recover from trauma. Well I call bullshit..... yes bullshit!!! So many people spend hours in therapy, searching for that missing link, that 1 vital memory which is hidden deep in their personal history. They are told that by finding this one memory that it will help resolve their current problem. In fact, memory doesn’t work like that... the problem with traumatic memories is not the inability to recall them, it’s more that they tend to intrude into our present daily life. When they do intrude, understanding how they can subconsciously affect and influence our behaviour, can be extremely helpful. Although, for those who choose to heal by fighting their fears, by never wanting to recall or discuss them, pressuring them to NOW focus on them, may actually do harm. How many of u knew that all Psychology programs were written by a male brain. Did U also know that these programs/counselling sessions will never work on the female brain due to how differently it functions from the male brain. 14.01.2022 IF WE ARE ALL SO INDIVIDUAL WHY DO WE ACT IN SUCH A PACK MENTALITY ? Why is there no meat, fruit, veges, ... milk, bread, tin food and yes u guessed it No Toilet Paper on the shelves in Brisbane today when yesterday the shelves were full. How can 1 announcement of cautionary action for just 3 days cause this much chaos, stress & fear, if we are all so individual, choosing our own thoughts. How could we all shop normally yesterday but today everyone has their focus on this 1 single announcement. Why have we automatically gone into a pack mentality and not trusted in our own awareness and judgement. Does it really take as little as 1 announcement to rattle us all into losing our own rational thoughts & being emotional because of an announcement on this Brisbane Covid lockdown until Monday. That’s 3 days!! NOT 3 MONTHS!! Have we all lost the ability to make a conscious effort to form our own opinions. Pack mentality only creates hostility & fear. I had a friend tell me today that people were offering their spot in the long long cues outside shops for $100. hav we all gone mad? Honestly why can’t us aussies look at this 3 day lockdown as a 3day long weekend, a time to enjoy some r&r after the mad Xmas rush & new year partying & just enjoy some quality time with family. What’s the worse thing that can happen if u run out of loo paper- You all hav a shower and a hose don’t you? Are you all really going to spend the next 72hours hoeing down those 20 cans of tin food you now own? Make 2021 a year to reflect, to take the time to ensure you are in control of your own thoughts, practice safety procedures during covid if you have to go out but really folks- take the time to make your OWN decisions, be aware of how stress affects your decision making as well and don’t be afraid to stand out because you’re different.
