19.01.2022 RME has always promoted workplace engagement in all of our programs. It is important in a positive workplace health and safety culture that team engagement is optimised to fully benefit all organisations and provide the safety outcomes we all aspire too. We're really pleased to be able to bring these digital learnings to assist in this process.

19.01.2022 National News last night (12/08) released survey results conducted with 26,000 workers. The survey revealed 80% of Australian workers have had a work-place mental injury or illness. Work stress caused by cost cutting can do mental & physical harm. 79% say they have suffered a physical or mental injury and the same percentage felt their employers did not take workplace safety seriously. These numbers are simply staggering, and yet we continue to be surprised to find many sec...tors that have no appetite for health, safety and risk management. I have personally lost a loved one who was killed at work, the result of which lead to a change of an industry procedure that was implemented nationally. So maybe my take is a little biased, but our passion at RME to supply our clients solutions comes from a place of genuinely wanting to assist SMEs in areas that they could not effectively manage themselves, have the resources and expertise to do so or simply acknowledge that an external assessment can complement your internal programs and systems. Whether youre a business or a club, as PCBUs (person conducting business or undertaking) including officers, managers, board and committee members if you dont know your level of liability, or dont have the correct policies, procedures and management plans in place then you need to find out! You have a responsibility to provide as far as reasonably practicable a safe place for people to attend work or events as either a paid worker, volunteer, contractor, spectator or site attendee. Think it wont happen to you think again! See more

WorkSafes guidance states that anyone with access to an AED can safely step in to handle a cardiac arrest crisis, knowing they cannot cause greater harm to the patient but may save their life. All employers should think about how likely it was that someone will suffer a cardiac arrest in their workplace, said WorkSafe Victoria Health and Safety Executive Director Julie Nielsen.

02.01.2022 We first discovered the risks associated with grey fleet around 2015 and it is still widely unknown but a high-risk factor in most organisations. Many of you arent checking the licenses of employees using private vehicles for business purposes or checking the road worthiness of the private vehicle being used. The crux of the issue is that any vehicle used for the purpose of business may be considered a workplace under various Commonwealth and state workplace health and sa...fety laws, including the Work Health & Safety Act 2012 (Commonwealth). The business tasks can be as simple as an office worker dropping off mail to the post office on the way home from work. The risks can be great. Far and away the biggest killer of workers in Australia are vehicle related accidents. Work Safe Australias 2014 report Work-Related Traumatic Injury Fatalities shows that across 12 years of the series, two-thirds of worker fatalities involved vehicles. See more

01.01.2022 South Australia has introduced stronger, more effective, and transparent screening laws for people working or volunteering with children. The new working with children check (WWCC) that is being introduced from 1 July 2019 replaces the current system, where people can have either a Department of Human Services (DHS) child-related employment screening or a National Police Certificate assessed by their employer/volunteer-involving organisation.
