21.01.2022 Remember this. A friend just sent me this memory The Australian HEART OF THE NATION 2016... Rita Kluge is half German, half Korean, and speaks dolphin. She discovered this unusual skill during a recent visit to Nelson Bay, north of Newcastle, where she joined a boat licensed to take punters swimming with the wild dolphins who congregate offshore. On the way out there a superpod hundreds of individuals appeared and Kluge leaned over the railings to take this shot, its 1/3200th-of-a-second shutter speed capturing the exhaled bubbles from the dolphin’s blowhole in exquisite detail. Kluge, 45, a physiotherapist from Avalon on Sydney’s northern beaches, arrived in Australia 14 years ago, lured by the promise of endless warm waves. As a young woman in Germany, she’d become smitten by surfing: the only trouble was, the nearest decent surf was in south-west France, an 18-hour drive away. On one of those long trips she got talking to an expat Aussie surfer in a car park, and his off-the-cuff remark You should visit us in Sydney, you’d love it brought her here. These days, with her board under her arm, the warm waters of Avalon Beach are a two-minute trot away. On that day in Nelson Bay, she and the other snorkellers jumped into the water and were towed behind the catamaran, with the dolphins swimming alongside them. They were right next to us, she says. They were so beautiful and curious. And you hear them! This dolphin chatter all around us. It gave Kluge an idea: she started imitating their noises through her snorkel. They were really inquisitive about that, she says, laughing. I swear I was communicating with them. So, what did she sound like? Down the phone line comes a garbled stream of clicking and high-pitched squawking. It sounds exactly like a dolphin, only with a German accent. 18.01.2022 My last bite for 2020 HAVE A SAFE 2021 with hopefully more adventurous month compare to this year stay positive pic taken sailing in Antarctica 2018 #humpbackwhale #antarctica #canon_photos #HNY #2021 #wildlife @living_ocean

16.01.2022 Bronze whaler (Carcharhinus brachyurus) or Coppershark came for a close look to check us humans out. Why sharks matter? They have been around for more than 450 million years, wow!! They are the ‘doctors of the ocean’. They’re so misunderstood and we need more education about them. As some of them are apex predator we need them to keep our marine ecosystem in check. They eat the sick, dead or weak prey. Ca. 70% of the oxygen we breath comes from the ocean if we disturb the fo...od chain we endanger ourself. Yet, when I am in the water especially when visibility is murky I know I could be more in danger and I know the risk swimming in their environment for 450 million years. I will always protect them #hsi #humanesocietyinternational #livingocean @hsiaustralia @living_ocean @seashepherdaustralia #sharks #sharksmatter #sharkcull @envoyfilm See more

13.01.2022 Photo by me: @kluge_photo I get asked what made me to sail to Antarctica. To be honest, I never thought I would, as I get really seasick and didn’t want to travel with big groups, sailing was the only answer. I wasn’t quite sure if they’d make thick enough free-diving suits to keep me warm. At the end it didn’t matter.....The wildlife of a specific apex predator really got my attention. The hydrurga leptonyx is such an intelligent, inquisitive, huge mammal and not much explored yet. Just the right code for me to say yes to my biggest lifetime adventure. On this pic my colleague Jorgen Rasmussen on our 1st day underwater with a ca. 3m large female leopard seal at Gourdin Island 2nd pic on right corner. Any questions? @canonaustralia @aquaticadigital

12.01.2022 These clips are the highlights of my isolation days still practicing with movie editing or I just leave it to the professionals big hug to everyone in lockdown #xmasAloneathome #avalonbeach #northernbeaches #sydney #lockdown#covid#antarctica #ritaklugesadventuretrips #sailing #bloodyfreezing @gopro #aquatech_imagingsolutions #leopardseal #apexpredator

09.01.2022 The eye of a whale is the like the gateway to heaven. On pic 2 u can get a better idea of it. It’s like looking into a humans eye, isn’t it? We might be able to give you that feeling soonish (eye to eye)as the boarders might open Australia- Tonga 2021

07.01.2022 How to capture penguin’s in Antarctica Make sure u put your wetsuit on properly to stay warm then...be very quiet and don’t laugh, that’s when I was told I didn’t close my flap, ops. Then hide behind rocks so they don’t see you lots of pop there visibility differs make sure not to scratch your dome with these rocks! (It was worth it) don’t leave your camera behind, penguins are very inquisitive super cute. Best memory’s #ritaklugesadventuretrips #antarctica #sailing #yacht @aquaticadigital #canonphotography #canon_photos

05.01.2022 This eye contact was intense! This Humpback whale just didn’t want to stop playing he really wasn’t aware of his size of 12m but always had an eye or two on us. 2nd shot non cropped taken with the wide angle canon 16-35mm /f 4.5 we had so much fun, didn’t we

03.01.2022 ‘SLEEPING BEAUTY’ Photo:@kluge_photo Winner of the Pristine Seas assignment Nat Geo said:... I love the magical atmosphere of this photo. It is monochromatic and a little grainy, yet this is what gives it a mysterious feel. It makes me feel the tenderness of the maternal relationship. Eric Sala (national geographic explorer) It was a stormy day and the waves were growing high. I was sitting on a home made wooden outrigger. My Tongan guide asked if I’d go in one more time. We saw a huge tail hanging out between the waves. Wow, there might be a calf with that humpback, he shouted. COME!! Oh gosh, right...We jumped....waves clashing high, no vis....i was actually hanging onto my guide but there i saw them and to be honest it was so murky and didn’t think anything would come out of my camera. It was like mother whale hanging like a cork, so bubba can have a safe spot around her nose. This moment is still one of my favourite ones I’ll keep forever in my heart @natgeopristineseas @natgeo @natgeoyourshot @natgeoau @aquatech_imagingsolutions

01.01.2022 In a moment like this you either stay or leave never forget, everything looks further away through your dome underwater. That’s what I am telling my guests. S’times you just gotta trust the moment. This humpback whale male was super playful of 12m length quite a playmate. Gosh, we had fun, didn’t we?? #ritaklugesadventuretrips #tonga #swimmingwithwhales #bestdayever #tonga_2016 #canon5dsr #canon_photos @aquaticadigital
