25.01.2022 Perth has been ranked in the top 15 cities in the world for cycling by Travel and Leisure Magazine. But guess what? It’s only going to get better! We have an enormous amount of new cycling infrastructure in the pipeline, including the flagship Causeway Cyclist & Pedestrian Bridge.... More than $200 million is set to be invested in improving the cycling network over the next four years.
25.01.2022 $1.1 BILLION TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE SPEND FOR WA We welcome today’s announcement of additional transport infrastructure spending for WA. We’ve worked collaboratively with the Commonwealth Government to identify projects that will create and support local jobs while also improving safety and capacity across our road and rail networks. ... This will extend the $6.5 billion pipeline of road and rail works currently underway across Western Australia, creating and supporting jobs and providing opportunities for local businesses. Key projects funded in today’s announcement include $16 million for Cape Leveque Road in the Kimberley and $16 million for the sealing of Goldfields Highway (Wiluna to Meekatharra), which will enable the continuation of local jobs and training opportunities in the local area. Regional road safety is one of our major priorities and we welcome the $80 million for the Wheatbelt Secondary Freight Network and other funding on regional roads. Funding for other major road projects, such as the Roe Highway interchange project will also add to the pipeline of projects that will go to the market. We’re building the transport infrastructure needed for tomorrow - no matter where you visit in WA you will see hard hats on the ground and infrastructure works underway.
24.01.2022 A mobile limestone crusher has arrived at the future Eglinton train station site! The 48 tonne crusher allows us to use limestone onsite and recycle it when building the station infrastructure, reducing haulage costs. Eglinton Station is one of three stations currently under construction on the METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension.
24.01.2022 The Swan Valley is very special to all Western Australians. We need to ensure we protect its natural character while also providing guidance for development. Today I launched the first standalone planning scheme for the Swan Valley for public consultation.... This will replace two existing schemes - the City of Swan Local Planning Scheme and the Metropolitan Region Scheme. The scheme is the centre of a new planning framework to guide future development in the region and will be implemented as part of the Swan Valley Planning Bill, currently before the Legislative Council. Find out more and have your say by November 14 here: https://consultation.dplh.wa.gov.au
24.01.2022 Have Your Say What artwork should be on the Cockburn Tower? The Cockburn Station tower is a well-known landmark and it’s important we have a piece of art that reflects Western Australia. We gave each artist a blank canvas and each of them have come back to us with their own interpretation of Western Australian fauna and flora - coincidentally each artwork features the Carnaby’s black cockatoo. ... Each of these pieces of art are quintessentially Western Australian and highlight how important nature reserves such as the Beeliar Wetlands are to the community. This artwork is something the Cockburn community and local commuters - both on road and by public transport - will be able to enjoy for years to come and I encourage everyone to have their say by voting. Have your say before 15 January here: www.mysaytransport.wa.gov.au/cockburn-central-station-tower
24.01.2022 It was a pleasure to turn the sod on Stockland’s new $75 million development Canopy in Glendalough. Canopy will feature 97 terrace houses that combine smart, sustainable features with open flowing living spaces. When we came to government in 2017, this is exactly the type of well located infill development we were seeking to promote through METRONET - good design and use of medium density. ... Canopy is situated only 5 kilometres outside of the Perth CBD, close to quality public transport and cycling links and has easy access to the recently upgraded Mitchell Freeway. This project will help stimulate the local economy and create local jobs I congratulate Stockland on this exciting new venture and look forward to visiting again when construction is complete.
24.01.2022 We’ve allocated $1 million to upgrade Bussell Highway between Treeton Road and Peake Street in Cowaramup. Cowaramup is a popular town for locals and tourists alike and the $1 million worth of upgrades will make it safer while also improve the amenity of the area. Construction will begin next month with native vegetation to be planted next year around the northern entrance. ... We’re committed to upgrading regional roads to improve safety and support local jobs.
24.01.2022 There has been a lot of medium density delivered over many years. But recently, many of these developments have contributed to a significant loss of tree canopy and homes with a design that does not contribute positively to the neighbourhood. People want to live close to services, jobs and good quality transport links. They want the option to remain in the community they love when they downsize, or to buy their first home close to family and friends, in a neighbourhood that ...is familiar. Good design is integral to our urban environment. Design WA sets a consistent benchmark for design excellence across all local governments, and ensures density is done well to provide a greater choice of housing diversity and create communities that will accommodate our growing and changing population. Today we launched our medium density policy for community consultation. Find out more and have your say here: https://www.consultation.dplh.wa.gov.au
24.01.2022 Important update from the Premier on WA's hard border

23.01.2022 Another 2017 Election Commitment is being Delivered Today the brand new primary school in Brabham has been officially named Brabham Primary School. The $18.5m Brabham Primary School will feature first class education facilities and will welcome 540 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 when it opens next year.... Brabham is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the State, so Brabham Primary School will help relieve enrolment pressure on nearby schools. This was a key election commitment I made at the last election, and I am so happy to see it being delivered.
23.01.2022 Today I had the pleasure of attending the Mary MacKillop Catholic Community School Year 6 Graduation. Congratulations to all year 6 graduates and all families for the support throughout the year!
22.01.2022 Our Bellevue railcars facility is on the way up! We’re bringing railcar manufacturing back to its home in Midland. Local trains built by local workers.
22.01.2022 There’s no doubt 2020 has been a year to remember, especially for the civil construction industry. It was a privilege to address the Roads Australia annual event after such a momentous year. Roads have been a key pillar of hope during the pandemic and during 2020 - for freight, local tourism and ongoing jobs. ... It was great to have the opportunity to recognise the achievements of the road building industry over the last year and to look ahead to an exciting future. A big thanks also to GHD for sponsoring the event.
22.01.2022 The High Wycombe station car park is rapidly taking shape! The main ingredients for the car park build are walls, beams and planks. Installation of 1600 pre-stressed, hollow core concrete planks that will form the decking for levels one and two of the multi-deck car park started this week.... The METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link is on track to open in late 2021.
22.01.2022 Our Government is giving every Western Australian household a one-off $600 credit on their residential electricity bill as part of the 2020-21 State Budget. For the first time in history, effective as of today, around 1.1 million Synergy and Horizon Power customers will receive a oneoff $600 credit, which is expected to provide the average WA household around four months of relief from having to pay their electricity accounts. The WA Household Electricity Credit will be auto...matically applied to every Synergy or Horizon Power residential account as of today. You will see it on your own bill in November and December. It'll mean WA families have a bit of extra money available in the lead up to Christmas. The $600 credit is fully funded through the recent Bell Group settlement, for the losses incurred in the Bell Group collapse in the early 1990s. It made sense that these funds go straight back to Western Australians. Especially in times like these, when people may need that bit of extra financial relief because of COVID-19.
21.01.2022 On Remembrance Day, we come together as a community to reflect on the service and sacrifice of those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. We observe one minute’s silence on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month each year to honour those who lived and died during WWI and in other wars and conflicts involving Australia’s armed services. I encourage members of the West Swan community to show their respect for those who have served in the Australian defence forces by observing one minute’s silence.
20.01.2022 Did you know we’ve allocated more than $200 million to upgrade cycling infrastructure across Western Australia? With this beautiful October weather, now is the time to jump on your bike and check out some of the newly completed works. Already this year we’ve opened several new or upgraded Principal Shared Paths, including along Reid Highway, NorthLink and Armadale Road and filled in the missing link along the Midland to Perth PSP next to Success Hill Train Station. ... We have a number of exciting projects still underway or planned including along the Mitchell Freeway from Telford Crescent to Civic Place and along the Armadale Train Line from Great Eastern Highway to Miller Street. You can see some of our key projects on the map below or to find out more info visit: www.transport.wa.gov.au//principal-shared-path-expansion-p
20.01.2022 More than 5 kilometres of track has now been laid on the METRONET Forrestfield-Airport Link! Track slab pouring is continuing between Redcliffe Station and Bayswater, with above ground works also tracking along, with welding of the rail lengths at the Midland/Airport Line turnout underway. Check out this new time-lapse vision of track slab pour at Redcliffe Station!
19.01.2022 If you travelled through Kelmscott recently you may have seen some pretty impressive machinery. A piling rig was onsite creating the 34 piles needed as part of the rail bridge for the Denny Avenue level crossing removal project. With the piling finished the project team can now turn their attention to the bridge walls.... Keep up with the project at: https://www.metronet.wa.gov.au//denny-avenue-level-crossin

17.01.2022 Solar panels are now being installed at the METRONET High Wycombe Station! Did you know we’re also installing solar solar panels at 60 bus and rail stations across Perth? Bus stations to receive solar panels include Mirrabooka Station, the Stadium bus layover and Henley Brook Station while trains stations to benefit include Warwick, Aubin Grove, Kwinana, Murdoch, Rockingham, Wellard and Warnbro.... Check out the latest pictures from High Wycombe below
17.01.2022 BUSINESS CASE TO BE PREPARED FOR TIER 3 LINES Today I released an independent engineering assessment outlining the estimated cost of restoring sections of the Wheatbelt’s Tier 3 rail network. Every time I visit the Wheatbelt I hear from the community about how important the Tier 3 rail lines are.... We are committed to investigating any initiatives that could increase safety by reducing the number of trucks on roads in regional WA - so earlier this year we commissioned an engineering report into the viability of re-opening the Tier 3 lines. While the engineering report confirms restoring the entire network would involve significant costs, there are arguably specific lines where the cost of investment could be offset by ongoing commercial and community benefits such as reduced truck volumes on local roads and cost savings to farmers. We’ll now work, in collaboration with CBH Group and Arc Infrastructure, on business cases to Infrastructure Australia examining the full costs and benefits of rail investment proposals on Tier 1, 2 and 3 lines. Submission of business cases to Infrastructure Australia could lay the groundwork for potential future funding partnerships with the Federal Government for rail freight investment. Significant funding contributions from the Federal Government - as per other major regional infrastructure projects - would be required for any potential Tier 3 restoration work in the future. A copy of the engineering report is available here: https://www.transport.wa.gov.au/Freight/freight-on-rail.asp
16.01.2022 Visiting the METRONET Airport Central Station this morning with Premier Mark McGowan was exciting. The project is really taking shape. We’ve reached several major milestones this year with the completion of tunnelling and the start of track laying.... Track laying is progressing well with almost 4 kilometres of track completed and 5.7 kilometres of skeleton track laid. The stations are almost completed and it is exciting to think trains will be running on this line in late 2021.
16.01.2022 The McGowan Government has secured a record amount of funding for regional road safety - with $455 million now allocated to the Regional Road Safety Program! An additional $71 million was allocated through the Mid-Year Review today building on top of a Commonwealth contribution of $284 million announced in the Federal Budget. Part of the Regional Road Safety Program, an initial $100 million partnership was established earlier this year to upgrade 1,400 kilometres of regiona...l roads across Western Australia. An additional 7,000 kilometres of regional roads will receive lifesaving treatments, such as sealing existing unsealed road shoulders and installing audible edge lines to warn drivers who veer over the line, expected to be rolled out by mid-2022.
15.01.2022 Beautiful day to visit sunny Geraldton Visit to Geraldton Airport Meeting with local governments to discuss the Dongara Geraldton Northampton proposed freight route ... Viewed the intersections of Barrett Drive and Brand Highway as well as Durlacher Street that are receiving upgrades through the Black Spots Program Visited Drummond Cove where we have committed $600,000 for groyne construction and sand nourishment
15.01.2022 No matter where you visit in WA you’ll see workers in hard hats on the ground upgrading our roads and building our rail projects. Our northern suburbs are a buzz of transport infrastructure activity. Today we officially opened the Wanneroo Road and Ocean Reef Road Interchange. ... This was one of our key election commitments and will slash 7 minutes off daily travel times. We’re getting on with delivering our other northern suburbs projects including the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive Interchange, the Mitchell Freeway widening and extension and of course we’ll be rolling out the Smart Freeways technology late next year.
15.01.2022 Funding secured for Hepburn Avenue noise wall! I am proud to announce funding for the Hepburn Avenue Noise Wall extension between Fairfield Dr and Alexander Dr, Ballajura. Many residents have been frustrated by the lack of effect the current sand bund has had on traffic noise from Hepburn Avenue as well as the lack of upkeep of the sand bund by the City of Swan.... For residents like Anthony, Cherry and Michael, this means the new noise wall will replace the existing sand bund and provide privacy as well as protection from traffic noise, overall increasing amenity in the area. This project as part of the McGowan Government’s $5.5 billion WA Recovery Plan will aid to boost the economy and employment post COVID-19 and is expected to be complete before the end of 2021. What a great outcome for Ballajura residents!
15.01.2022 Western Australia’s culturally diverse communities have received a boost, with the McGowan Government transferring land for a new dedicated Vietnamese Cultural Centre and introducing a $3 million program to upgrade other community centres right around the State. Today I visited the land site adjacent to Girrawheen Senior High School for the development of the new dedicated Vietnamese Cultural Centre. The new centre will provide a hub for community activities such as indoor sp...orts, cultural practices, language classes and serve as a meeting place for local Vietnamese community groups. It is expected the facility will include an assembly area with staging provisions for entertainment and events, a commercial kitchen, classrooms and exhibition spaces. This is great news for the West Swan Vietnamese community!
14.01.2022 Early works are now underway on the Byford Rail Extension! The first component of the rail line is the removal of the Thomas Road level crossing which is now underway. METRONET is a once in a lifetime investment we need to make sure we are planning for the now as well as building the infrastructure for the future.... That’s why today we announced when we have a shortlist for the main construction contract early next year those contractors will provide priced options for elevated rail through the Byford and Armadale town centres along with the base case for Government to consider at; Armadale City Centre ( removing level crossings at Armadale Road, Forrest Road and Church Ave) Byford Town Centre ( south of Larsen Road to Abernethy Rd)
14.01.2022 BUNBURY OUTER RING ROAD CONTRACT AWARDED The construction contract for the $852 million BORR project was signed today. This is the biggest project to ever be undertaken in WA’s South-West. South West Gateway Alliance consortium has been tasked with the job, and will be creating thousands of local jobs in the process.... BORR will help ease congestion in Bunbury, while improving travel time for motorists between Perth and Busselton by around 15 minutes. This is a once-in-a-generation project that will create big opportunities for local businesses. Check out the video below to learn more!
14.01.2022 All aboard: the first stage of our METRONET Trade Training Centre is now complete! The new facility, at Midland TAFE, features rail signalling workshops and a new electrical rail signalling qualification. With 7 METRONET projects under construction, this is all part of our plan to ensure local workers have the skills and qualifications they need to work on METRONET- while also returning rail manufacturing to Midland.
13.01.2022 The multi-storey carpark at High Wycombe Station is on the way up Installation of formwork for the columns to support the second level has started, with concrete pours for the first 35 columns now complete! The Forrestfield-Airport Link is one of eight METRONET projects we have under construction this year, supporting local jobs and local businesses.
13.01.2022 METRONET isn’t just about building train lines it’s about building communities and creating opportunities. It was a pleasure to speak to Channel 7 about some of the work being undertaken in encouraging Aboriginal employment and engagement on our METRONET projects. Chance Bateman, is a former Hawthorn football player and is now the NEWest Alliance’s Aboriginal Participation Coordinator for Yanchep Rail Extension and Thornlie Cockburn Link.... Jarrad Oakley Nicholls is a former AFL footballer and has now set up his own business, and secured work on the Denny Avenue Level Crossing Removal. I’m so proud of the work we are delivering on METRONET and the opportunities it is creating for people across WA.
12.01.2022 ICYMI: Last week we unveiled the refined Bayswater Station design renders. You can check them out in the video below. Bayswater Station is set to become a major transport hub, linking the future Airport Line and the Morley-Ellenbrook Line to the Midland Line and the wider rail network, while also creating a hub of activity. This year alone we have seven METRONET projects under construction with another four METRONET projects now in the procurement phase.... Our METRONET program is Building for Tomorrow, securing the infrastructure needed for our future while also supporting the Western Australian economy through the COVID-19 pandemic.
12.01.2022 It was a little bit colder than a balmy Broome day but Chris and his camels brought a little bit of Cable Beach magic to South Perth this morning. Over 50,000 tickets are now on sale for affordable flights to #wanderoutyonder in Broome (from $199) Kununurra (from $249) and Exmouth (from $149). We have partnered with Virgin Australia and Qantas to deliver these incredible deals at a time when the north’s tourism industry needs it most.... The discounted Broome and Exmouth flights begin from November - with the Kununurra sale kicking off in March to make the most of the East Kimberley’s peak season. We will continue to work with all the airlines to increase airfare affordability and accessibility across the state.
11.01.2022 REMINDER The last lot of works on the Hay Street Bridge are happening this weekend! Mitchell Freeway southbound will be CLOSED from Graham Farmer Freeway to Riverside Drive from 6pm Saturday 10 October to 12pm Sunday 11 October.... Detours will be in place via Graham Farmer Freeway to access the Perth CBD and Kwinana Freeway southbound. Unfortunately delays are expected, so please plan ahead this weekend and avoid the area. Thanks to everyone in advance for the patience!
11.01.2022 I was thrilled to be back in the Great Southern this morning with Peter Watson MLA and Rebecca Stephens to mark the start of construction on Stage 3 of South Coast Highway upgrades. This is part of a $30 million election commitment to upgrade South Coast Highway to improve safety and efficiencies while supporting local jobs. The third stage includes reconstruction and widening of the highway, along with two new passing lanes between Bluff Creek Road and Kojaneerup West Road. ... Our Government is getting on with the job and delivering key road projects all across the Great Southern region, including the long awaited Albany Ring Road and upgrades to Albany Highway.
11.01.2022 Today we announced a preferred route for the future freight corridor between Dongara, Geraldton and Northampton. This is a project that has been talked about in the Mid-West region for many years. I want to stress this is only the start of the process for this project and there is currently no funding allocated towards construction. ... Now the preferred route has been identified, Main Roads will continue to seek the community’s input into the proposed alignment. There is plenty of time for everyone to have their say and I would encourage all interested community members to provide their feedback. The proposed corridor follows an inland route to the south of Geraldton up towards Northampton following close to North West Coastal Highway. From Dongara to Geraldton, a new inland corridor is proposed to start near the Brand Highway and Midlands Road intersection to link up with the current Arthur Road alignment to the south of Geraldton. The northern link and southern options would be linked by proposed new road infrastructure within the already planned Oakajee Narngulu Infrastructure Corridor. From Geraldton to Northampton, a new road is proposed within a wider corridor near the existing North West Coastal Highway. Have your say at: www.mysaytransport.wa.gov.au/dongara-geraldton-northampton

10.01.2022 The Subi East Master Plan is now complete! Thanks to everyone who had their say over the past two years about what they would like to see in this vibrant inner city suburb. This project will unlock thousands of local jobs, help stimulate the economy and encourage private investment.... When we came to government we committed to keeping Subiaco Oval open and delivering Bob Hawke College this year we have delivered on both of those commitments. Early works on Subi East will commence in 2021, with a contract already awarded for the demolition and remediation of Princess Margaret Hospital. You can read the final Master Plan here: http://www.developmentwa.com.au/subieast
09.01.2022 The Liberal Party have never supported WA’s border arrangements. That's why they sided with Clive Palmer to try and tear down our border, against health advice. The Health advice is there - written in black and white.... We shouldn’t confuse speculation on potential future decisions, with the current health advice. They may not like it. They may not agree with it. But it’s there - and it’s keeping us safe.
09.01.2022 It was a pleasure to accept a petition from representatives of the Wheatbelt Railway Retention Alliance today calling for the re-opening of the Tier 3 grain rail lines. The Tier 3 rail lines, built in the early 1900s, were previously used to transport grain and were privatised in 2000 by the previous Liberal National Government and are now held by Arc Infrastructure. Arc closed the Tier 3 rail lines in 2014 on the grounds that they were not commercially viable.... The Tier 3 lines are in variable condition and any line section would need to be upgraded before being brought back into service. Subject to further discussions with stakeholders, the first upgrade proposals for the Tier 3 line currently being considered for business case preparation are: - Quairading to York (estimated cost $110.91 million) - Kulin (via Yilliminning) to Narrogin (estimated cost $164.41 million); and - Kondinin (via Narembeen) to West Merredin (estimated cost $210.67 million narrow gauge or $238.08 million standard gauge). We’ll now work on business cases to Infrastructure Australia examining the full suite of costs and benefits to government and industry of rail investment proposals on Tier 1, 2 and 3 lines.
08.01.2022 The ECU Inner City campus has reached a key milestone with expressions of interest now open for a lead architect and lead design engineers! This project is a key part of our Perth City Deal, which will see $1.5 billion invested into the CBD creating more than 10,000 local jobs and encouraging more vibrancy into our city. You can find out more about the ECU campus and the Perth City Deal here: https://www.mediastatements.wa.gov.au//Joint-media-stateme
08.01.2022 It doesn’t get any more special than this. Today we officially opened the newly sealed Broome Cape Leveque Road. Representatives from all local communities were out in force to celebrate an iconic project.... Over 50 per cent of hours worked on site were by Aboriginal people while $12m of contacts were awarded to Aboriginal businesses. This is going to make for a safer journey, allow the communities to be better connected to services and of course allow the communities to continue to grow their tourism opportunities. Thank you to everyone involved!
07.01.2022 We’re inviting Western Australians to share their photographs, memories and experiences of Perth’s Princess Margaret Hospital via a unique digital time capsule. Over more than a century, the dedicated doctors and nurses at Princess Margaret Hospital cared for generations of Western Australian children and families. That vital work and support is now carried on at the Perth Children’s Hospital, but the legacy of PMH is very much a part of the fabric of our State and our comm...unity. That’s why we’re launching the ‘A Penny for Your Thoughts’ initiative that enables anyone who has an emotional connection to PMH to become a part of its history by sharing memories and experiences via a unique digital time capsule. Named after the original fundraising campaign for a children’s hospital - started with three pennies donated by a little girl in the late 1890s - the ‘Penny for Your Thoughts’ time capsule will allow people to visit a dedicated website to embed their memory onto a virtual penny. These virtual pennies will be stored on an external hard drive and enclosed in a time capsule, to be buried in a reflection space on these grounds and opened in 109 years - the amount of time PMH served our community. Find out more and share your memories of PMH at the link below.
07.01.2022 Upgrades to sections of Indian Ocean Drive are progressing well. Work between Moore River and Ledge Point is nearing completion. The final seal is being applied to the newly widened section, and the installation of audible edge and centre lines will continue through until the end of November. Meanwhile, work is also underway to install audible edge lines on a further 22km section of Indian Ocean Drive between Cervantes and Jurien Bay, as part of the Regional Road Safety Program and is due for completion in December.

06.01.2022 BUSSELL HWY DUPLICATION: NOW UNDERWAY Today we turned the sod to mark the start of construction on the $85m Bussell Highway duplication. We all know the stories about this road: tedious traffic queues in peak holiday periods, safety concerns and limited overtaking opportunities. ... This project directly addresses those concerns. Combined with the Bunbury Outer Ring Road, it will save motorists travelling between Perth and Busselton at least 15 minutes - likely a lot more during holiday periods. It will also support 570 jobs and while also improving safety and easing congestion for locals. The McGowan Government undertook $4.5 million worth of pre-loading works last year which has enabled us to fast track the duplication contract award by three months and work to start today.
05.01.2022 Over the past few months Dayton residents have raised with me the need for bus shelters in the local area. Recently I wrote to all Dayton residents seeking feedback to where bus shelters were most needed. I am pleased to announce the three locations receiving upgraded bus shelters in Dayton: ... Stop Number 15527 Isoodon St after Cranleigh St Stop Number 15528 Isoodon St before Cranleigh St; and Stop Number 27879 Arthur St after Floribunda Gate The installation of the new bus shelters is to be jointly funded through the McGowan State Government’s Bus Shelter Subsidy Program and the local government’s 2020/21 Shelter Installation Program.
04.01.2022 Adarsh Australia, a Malaga, based business met the challenge during COVID19 and provided TGA-approved face-shields for medical staff. I am pleased to announce they have received a $250,000 grant for their wastepaper recycling and pulp product manufacturing project. This project includes the purchase of a recycled fibre moulded manufacturing machine which is capable of producing high-volume, low cost products for packaging all made from recycled WA paper and cardboard.... Congratulations Adarsh Australia
04.01.2022 A SPECIAL DAY IN THE KIMBERLEY Last week I had the pleasure of officially opening the fully sealed Broome Cape Leveque Rd. More than 200 local community members came along to celebrate this event.... We heard so many stories about the road, its history and the impact it has had on so many peoples lives. Now the road is fully sealed it will mean better access for communities, a safer drive and more tourism opportunities. We also announced an additional $20m to reseal the first 14km of the road, along with the Kooljaman Resort Access Road at Cape Leveque and Ardyaloon Hatchery Access Road at Ardyaloon. This will provide continuity of work for the workers on this project. I am so proud of the outcomes we have achieved on the sealing of the Broome Cape Leveque Road project.
04.01.2022 We know how important it is for Derby residents to have access to suitable regional flights and we have been working hard with the local Shire on potential solutions. Earlier this year the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley requested we consider reallocating the $1 million, originally committed for a Perth to Derby air route, to be used for trial air services between Derby and Broome instead We’ve assessed the Shire’s proposal and are happy to support a 12-month trial of direct fl...ights between Derby and Broome, with a tender to be released within weeks. The proposed new air service will provide connecting options for residents, workers and visitors to the region to get between Derby and Broome, rather than driving. Travellers can then connect onto Broome flights to and from Perth. It was a pleasure to be back in Broome to make this announcement today!
03.01.2022 Wheel clamping on private property will be banned from 14 December. For a long time, wheel clamping has existed in a grey area of the law. The new laws make it very clear that it is no longer an acceptable practice. We have heard too many stories from vulnerable people forced to pay expensive on-the-spot charges to have their cars released by wheel clampers - enough is enough.... There are better ways to regulate parking on private property than using heavy-handed and intimidating tactics. Through this new legislation, we have balanced the needs of private parking managers along with the rights of drivers to be treated fairly.
