21.01.2022 Available : Original Midcentury Block vases by Asta Strömberg for Strombergshyttan, 60's These striking sommerso vases feature iconic Stromberg solid clear crystal that encases coloured underlays in pewter, bronze and dark navy. The vases were all produced by Strombergshyttan glassworks during the midcentury period. Their heavy rectangular block form with tubular cavity makes these vases perfect for sizable singular stems! All the vases are in very good to excellent vintag...e condition. Each one is listed separately on the website. 19.01.2022 Available : Original mid-century Usva (Mist) vase by Kaj Franck for Nuutajarvi Notsjo, Finland, 1961 This vase features delicately tinted solid crystal handblown into an elongated lobbed form. This elegant and refined piece was designed by the famous Kaj Franck for the Finnish glassworks Nuutajarvi Notsjo. Kaj Franck (1911 1989) shunned materialism, excess and throwaway culture in favour of timeless, enduring and minimalist designs. This 60 year old vase is a testame...nt to this attitude and I really admire the quality of materials and craftsmanship. This great collector's piece is in excellent condition, measures 21cm high and weighs 1.4kg. The underside is acid signed ‘K. Franck Nuutajärvi Notsjo 61’. It looks fantastic with larger blooms but also stands alone well. $469 AUD. The vases were all produced by Strombergshyttan glassblowers during the midcentury period. All vases here, models B820, B894 & B985, can be found in Strombergshyttan's old catalogues. ‘B’ signifies ‘Blomvas’ or floral vase.... 10.01.2022 Available : Original mid-century sommerso vases by Gunnar Nylund for Strömbergshyttan, 1950s These beautiful sommerso teardrop vases feature solid clear hand-blown crystal that encases a soft pewter grey underlay. Gunnar Nylund (1904-1997) - an artist, designer and sculptor - was a true pioneer of mid-century era decorative arts. Nylund's role as Artistic Director at Strömbergshyttan in the 50's, greatly contributed to the legacy that the glassworks is known for today.... The larger piece is in good condition. It measures 23cm high and weighs 1.2kg. The signature on the underside reads ‘Strömberg B894’ It is listed for $339 AUD. The smaller piece is also in good condition and signed 'Strömberg B894'. It measures 14.5cm high, weighs 0.6kg and is listed for $239 AUD. 01.01.2022 Available : Original Sputnik handblown vase by Asta Strömberg for Strömbergshyttan, 1960s The Sputnik series was designed in the 60s by the famous Swedish art-glass designer Asta Strömberg. All the vases in this series come in varying colours and heights but all of them feature solid clear crystal hand blown into a long elongated form - making it ideal for long stems. This vase, model B985, has a beautiful violet underlay. It measures 20.5cm high and is in excellent condit...ion.
