11.01.2022 Handy tip for dogs with storm anxiety & stress - use a crate! Place nearby to you & cover with a light sheet or blanket if needed. Oh, & don't make a fuss! Before going in her crate, Baylee paces rooms, growls & barks at the windows as soon as she senses thunder (before we do!). Once in her crate she starts to settle within minutes. A light blanket is put over the top to give her the extra security & to stop her being "on guard". She still growls a little when she hears thunder but this strategy stops her pacing & allows her to snuggle into her safe place in between noises.

Update your detail on your pet's ID tag attached to their collar Check your pet's microchip details online and update your contact details During: Keep pets inside in a secure area away from large windows or glassed areas - the laundry is usually a great spot Make the area comfy with your pet's bedding, fresh water and toys Play the radio or TV to distract your pets Give your pet a yummy and fun food puzzle to keep them busy Make sure your yard is escape-proof and that your gates are locked If you are away for the evening, leave your pet with someone you trust or ask neighbours to check in on them If you’re aware that your pet becomes extremely distressed during fireworks, discuss the option of anti-anxiety medication with your vet.
