06.01.2022 The Black Stump at 5 Murtho Rd, Paringa (a short 1.2 km walk from Riverbend) is the largest of 11 known black stumps in Australia! The impressive black stump is a 600 year old river red gum root system that weighs approximately 8 tonne and is 8 metres in diameter. It is housed in the front yard of a residential property, just off the main street of Paringa, it is adorned by many unique Australiana artworks and sculptures. Mallee Estate is a family owned and operated boutique winery established by Peter and Eleni Markeas. The first vineyard was established in 1969 with three acres of Shiraz planted, which is used in part to make the Mallee Estate Shiraz. Winery tours start at 11.30am. The tours are conducted by the Winemaker, which makes it a very personal experience. ...The tour starts in the vines, then continues into the winery.
