14.01.2022 **Please read and share** We’re just back from our annual retreat to the King Valley in Victoria’s North East and as is usually the case we enjoyed some of the ...local hospitality at some of our favourites. One that’s always on the list is Sam Miranda King Valley. A beautiful location who’s magnificent food is served under majestic old trees while sipping some of the area’s best wines . Now these guys like all others in the area are desperately trying to recover from 2020 in a way many of us traveling city folk can’t even begin to understand . Things there and at many other venues are a little different as hospitality continues to pivot and twist to meet a constantly shifting landscape which as a patron we SHOULD accept and welcome with admiration watching the aussie spirit of true grit while they hang on to the wild ride that is the world and the hospitality business at the moment. So here’s my request to you and all your friends and family. While you’re out and about this holiday season PLEASE remember all these regional businesses you visit, wineries, restaurants, cafes, bars, bakeries, stores, general stores etc remember this. They are all just hanging on. They’re desperate to survive and like them we can pivot too. We can relax take a breath and ‘endure’ a shift in the service or product we’re used to and adapt. Being there isn’t the only support they need they need your patience as much as your custom. Yes it’s fantastic that they’re super busy but they’re all understaffed while many have their job keeper toes up, and there’s a hell of a lot of us out and about. So when you go to hit a review site like Trip Advisor to vent your spleen remember your unnecessary review (which is, not a true reflection of the quality a venue normally offers) just affected someone’s livelihood. Everything they’ve poured blood sweat and tears into. Reflect a moment and imagine them at every turn these last 12 months facing hurdle after hurdle and know you’re words form the stuff of their nightmares and today’s tears. So step back, take a breath, remember you’re on holidays and there’s no rush and be supportive with your behavior and empathy as much as your patronage PLEASE See more
