25.01.2022 White Kaps became the latest 1000m metropolitan winner for KAPHERO today when scoring a gutsy win on the Morphettville program in Adelaide. A very consistent 3-year-old, the Gordon Richards-trained gelding secured a run up the fence for a one-and-a-quarter length success. KAPHERO can certainly get a quality short-course winner. Recent racing has also seen the likes of Mile High and Sister Kitty Mac win over the minimum trip.

24.01.2022 The Easter long weekend saw progeny of KAPHERO again to the fore, with a couple of notable winners heading a handful of sons and daughters that saluted around the traps. The $30,000 Warracknabeal Cup (1600m) witnessed Kapaulenko defeat seven rivals to register the 7th win of his career, taking his earnings to a figure just short of $127,000. The Mornington meeting the following day saw The Centaurian win by three clear lengths over 1000m after a four months absence from the track. The lightly-raced 5-year-old won in the style of a horse with better wins in store and is another member of the KAPHERO breed worth following over the coming months.

23.01.2022 Riverdene Stud is sad to report the premature death of the successful resident stallion Kaphero. A prolific sire of winners during a stud career that saw him serve with distinction at Swettenham Stud before joining the Riverdene Stud roster in 2015, Kaphero died at Charles Sturt University after suffering an acute onset illness. Despite all efforts being made by the veterinary clinicians at CSU, Kaphero could not be saved. He will be sadly missed by his owners, the teams at Swettenham and Riverdene Studs and his many supporters.

22.01.2022 The outstanding equine photographer Sharon Chapman was at Riverdene Stud in the past few weeks taking some new images of resident stallion VA PENSIERO. The son of Stratum was a big hit with Sharon, who posted the following picture on her very popular Twitter account this morning

21.01.2022 The Centaurian scored another good win at Moe yesterday and is proving to be a particularly consistent performer for his connections. The son of KAPHERO was winning for the second time in five starts this campaign, having also finished runner-up on another two occasions since resuming on April 1. The 5-year-old encountered a Heavy track for the first time in his career at Moe yesterday yet seemed to handle the surface with aplomb. In fact the manner of his performance would suggest that The Centaurian could soon become the next son of KAPHERO to make his mark in town.

21.01.2022 Very pleased to confirm that Aust. Horse of the Year & 5-time Group 1 winner Dissident has joined the Riverdene Stud stallion roster. One of the most completely racehorses of the past decade, Dissident won at stakes level as a 2YO, landed the Randwick Guineas (G1) as a 3YO, and then took all before him as a 4YO claiming the All Aged Stks (G1), Makybe Diva Stks (G1), CF Orr Stks (G1) and Memsie Stks (G1) over 1400-1600m. Dissident’s 4YO feats saw him decorated as the Horse o...f the Year, as well as the Champion Sprinter & Older Horse in Australia, and gain a peak World Thoroughbred Ranking of 121. Dissident is already siring early coming 2YO winners getting better with age. Star performer Yes Baby Yes was a juvenile winner in 2019/20 before a current 3YO campaign which has witnessed the filly land both the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic (G2) in the spring and the MRC Angus Armanasco Stks (G2) this autumn. Similarly, first-crop runner Pancho saluted in Melbourne metro company as a 2YO, before winning the VRC TCL TV Stks (LR) at three and then the Kilmore Cup (LR) this season as a 4YO. Dissident is to stand at a fee of $6600 (inc GST) payable on live foal terms.

20.01.2022 Good win by The Centaurian today, winning in style on the feature Mornington program in Victoria. The 6-year-old son of KAPHERO was first-up since July but travelled on the pace from the outset and was still much too strong at the finish. Hes now won five races and finished runner-up in another five from just 16 starts. Hes another good advertisement for his top-value sire!

20.01.2022 Heres a nice picture of a Va Pensiero filly born this morning. Shes from Jellylorum, a winning daughter of Tale of the Cat (USA) from the great New Zealand family of Mapperley Heights.

19.01.2022 Showpero was the highlight of a Saturday Victorian double for KAPHERO in another productive day of competition for the prolific sire. The talented 4-year-old racemare saluted on the Moonee Valley program in Melbourne in a $100,000 event for the fairer sex little more than 15 minutes before Aunty Sue won a 1300m contest at Wodonga. The latest Melbourne metropolitan winner for KAPHERO in recent time, Showpero has now won five of her 15 starts and took her earnings to close on $220,000. She also emulated her sire by winning over a course and distance which was responsible for at least six of his 10 career wins.

17.01.2022 Its been another very good week for KAPHERO following two metropolitan winners in Brisbane and some very respectable sales results in Adelaide. KAPHERO was responsible for a double of sorts in Brisbane when Suggan Buggan won on the Doomben program last Saturday, and Apoloboom did likewise at the very same track on Wednesday. The Riverdene stallion has now had notable winners in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane in recent months as well as at a host of country and provincial tracks nationwide. This week also saw a colt ex Cousin Bonnie fetch $34,000 at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale when sold to leading Victoria-based trainer David Brideoake. Its not a bad return off a service fee of just $4000.

16.01.2022 Sizzling impressive debut winner in Hong Kong. John Size unveiled another talent in Dragon Baby (Sizzling), who won on debut in the Class 4 Pottinger Peak Handicap (1000m) to lead the trainers’ championship 56-54 over Caspar Fownes. Handled patiently by Chad Schofield, the three-year-old sat back in the field before charging late to justify substantial market support. He was impressive, I had never sat on the horse before but I got a bit of confidence from Mr Size bef...ore the race, Schofield said. He didn’t muster a great deal of early speed but we were able to recover and as the race went on, the more comfortable he got and he was very strong late. See more

16.01.2022 Theres been a big run of winners for Riverdene Stud newcomer Sizzling. A Breednet table accounted for six in the past seven days, and we have tallied as many as nine since the beginning of the month. At the time of writing, Sizzling has a total of 88 individual winners and $7.2 million in progeny earnings with his oldest runners still only 4YOs.

16.01.2022 Dissident Mare Chasing Stakes Challenge Wednesday, 28th April 2021 Consistent mare Dis Dah Win (Dissident-Found the One, by Bel Esprit) will be aimed at a winter stakes campaign if she runs well today, reports racingqueensland.com.au. Father daughter training partnership Tony and Maddy Sears have placed the 4YO mare in Toowoomba's Sheppard Earthmoving Handicap over 1200m. "There was nothing wrong with her last run in town and we're putting a nose band on to stop her from over...racing," Maddy Sears said. "She's a nice mare and she's got the ability to measure up to a Stakes race in the winter but it's just a timing thing to get her there. It's not an easy field she's up against but she's on her home track and she's won there twice." Dis Dah Win had two starts for the Hawkes stable in Sydney, running second and third, before moving north to the Sears stable where she won four in succession. Her last start in early April was her first city start and she ran fourth over 1200m from an awkward barrier to just miss out on a placing, just over two lengths behind the Chris Munce-trained Centrefire (Shooting to Win-Coco Kerringle, by Exceed and Excel). Five-time Gr1 winner Dissident (Sebring-Diana's Secret, by Anabaa) will stand at the Riverina's Riverdene Stud for a fee of $6,600 inc GST. He is the sire of nearly 100 winners and two stakes-winners, with his oldest progeny now 4YOs. His stakes winners are Gr2 winner Yes Baby Yes, and Listed winner Pancho. See more

15.01.2022 Another metropolitan meeting, another metropolitan winner for KAPHERO. Riverdene Studs tremendously consistent sire was again represented in the winners enclosure when Kapaulenko scored career win No. 8 at Caulfield yesterday. The 6-year-old relished the 1400m trip and the slow racing surface to land the $60,000 contest. Kapaulenko has now won three of his past four starts, over 1400-to-1600m, and is another glowing advertisement for a stallion standing at a service fee of just $4400.

15.01.2022 Heres proof positive of the fact that Riverdene Stud resident stallion KAPHERO gets 2-year-old winners, and that those 2-year-old winners train on. Earlier this week Riverina Dancer won a juvenile event at Pakenham, scoring over 1200m for the @LindsayParkRacing team. The filly broke her maiden by four-and-a-half lengths to become winner No. 130 for her sire. Tomorrow Showpero lines-up in the Listed Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in grand winning form after having saluted at her past two outings. A five-time winner from 15 starts, the 4-year-old daughter of KAPHERO won her first-ever two engagements as a 2-year-old and has been a model of consistency ever since.

14.01.2022 Standing this season at Riverdene Stud at a fee of $6600 inclusive of GST (Payment on live foal).

13.01.2022 Riverdene Stud graduate Concealer made her mark on Day 1 of the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale when offered as Lot 1598. The dual stakes winning daughter of Nicconi went through the ring to dissolve a partnership and fetched one of the more significant six-figure prices of the day when sold for $410,000 to Supreme Thoroughbreds of Victoria. Winner of the Group 3 VRC Emirates Airline Plate at Flemington on debut as a 2-year-old, Concealer added to her black-type tally when claiming the Listed SAJC Manihi Classic at Morphettville during her most recent campaign as a lightly-raced 4-year-old. This very talented racemare has been a great advertisement for Riverdene Stud over the past three seasons and has the profile to become a notable producer should she commence stud duties later this year.

12.01.2022 Recent Riverdene Stud recruit Dissident has a 3YO filly heading to the Group 1 Queensland Oaks following the win of Rebel Rama at Rosehill last Saturday. Trainer Marc Conners confirmed that the exciting prospect had previously been earmarked by his stable for the Group 1 Oaks staged at Morphettville in South Australia, but will now head north to Brisbane for the Eagle Farm 3YO Classic. We were tempted to take her to Adelaide for the Australasian Oaks but that sort of fell o...ver, so this was our Plan B, Conners said. It’s all starting to fall into place now. She’s a three-year-old filly that we think can stay. She’s had a fairly long preparation this time, so she’ll have that run in Queensland then have a nice break up there. We’ll try and find a nice program for her after that.

11.01.2022 You can add the name of Apoloboom to the list of notable metropolitan winners sired by KAPHERO in recent time following the geldings success in Brisbane over the weekend. The 5-year-old posted his 8th career victory when landing a $70,000 Benchmark 80 at Doomben, so becoming the latest city winner in a steady stream of runners to have saluted in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane. These include the likes of Wise Hero, Mile High, Sister Kitty Mac, Kapaulenko, Showpero etc. As the advert says Top-value stallion consistently siring high grade winners!

11.01.2022 STRADAs outstanding daughter Charms Honour was back in the headlines when a bay colt by Rubick was sold on the second day of the 2018 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for $420,000. Offered as Lot 300 by Supreme Thoroughbreds (as Agent), the quality youngster is the third foal produced by the mare and was secured for the notable six-figure sum by prominent Rosehill-based trainer Gerald Ryan. Of course, Charms Honour is also dam of this seasons brilliant stakes winning 2-year-old Enbihaar, recent runner-up to Written By in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes no less. The timing of her emergence could not have been better for the son of Rubick who attracted the highest price paid for any Premier sale lot by that stage of proceedings. It all augurs well for Riverdene Stud resident sire STRADA to develop as a significant broodmare influence.

11.01.2022 Invincibella Half in Aug (Late) Online Sale Monday, 24th August 2020 A half-sister to Group 1 winner Invincibella is one of the headline acts amongst a 237-strong catalogue in Inglis August (Late) Online Sale, which has launched in Friday afternoon Well Done You, an unraced daughter of Sizzling and Galileo mare Abscond offered by Supreme Thoroughbreds, is one of several highlights in the broodmare section. Invincibella sold for $1.3 million as a broodmare this year, while Well Done You is also a sister to Stakes winner Secret Blaze. Her Extreme Choice-half brother was sold at this years Inglis Easter Sale for $340,000 to Anthony Freedman.

11.01.2022 Both winners for KAPHERO this week illustrate the versatility of the Riverdene Stud sires progeny. Roughly and Aurelius Hero scored on the non-turf surfaces of Fannie Bay and Geelong respectively, proving once again that the stallions stock can win on anything. Its worth remembering that KAPHEROs star performer in Singapore, namely Super Winner, excelled on the All Weather track at Kanji. No matter what the season or surface, you can count on the breed to perform!

09.01.2022 Great to see Riverdene Stud graduate Concealer return to the stakes winning ranks with an all-the-way victory in the Listed SAJC Manihi Classic (1100m) at Morphettville on Saturday. The talented racemare has raced in high-class company since winning at Group 3 level on debut as a 2-year-old and is very deserving of her second black-type success after a string of very good performances ever since. And well done to the Tony McEvoy stable for the handling of Concealer throughout her injury plagued career and their latest placement of her in Adelaide stakes company. Lets hope theres even more Group/Listed success to come.

09.01.2022 Riverdene Sires Priced to Meet the Market Monday, 24th August 2020 Many leading marketing degrees proclaim the least understood of the subjects four Ps is Price. Its equally applicable when it comes to stallions, where V for value plays a key role in decision-making by breeders at the best of times, but particularly under COVID-19 circumstances. Its a notion adhered to by Riverdene Stud in the Riverina which is standing four stallions in 2020. Ranging in GST inclusive pric...es from $1,100 to $6,600, the cross section of highly pedigreed, Group-performed, proven and new sires provides broodmare owners with exceptional value at a time when many smaller breeders have constrained budgets. Even those breeders pondering not breeding at all but who still face the reality of paying for a broodmares keep for the next year in foal or not will find the Riverdene quartet a tempting consideration. 07.01.2022 Another good result for KAPHERO today with Showpero and White Kaps running the quinella in a $45,000 Benchmark 75 over 1000m in Adelaide. Sent out the $2.00 favourite, Showpero received a perfect ride from Jamie Kah to win by close on two lengths, White Kaps sticking on gamely to his task to finish runner-up. Showpero has now won four of her 14 career starts and over $164,000 in prizemoney. The 4-year-old mares record over the course and distance also makes for some impressive reading. Today was the fifth time she has lined-up over 1000m at Morphettville, having now won three times and placing third on the other two occasions.

07.01.2022 Bronski Beat became another 2YO winner raised, grazed, bred and sold by Riverdene Stud when saluting at Bendigo yesterday. The youngster is the second winner for Widden Stud stallion Shamus Award Riverdene having also bred his first winner Mookareena! Riverdene sold Bronski Beat at the 2017 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for $60,000 (through the Holbrook draft) to trainer Darren Weir and renowned bloodstock agent John Foote. This year we also sold his full-sister at the Classic Sale (through the Widden draft) for $85,000 to the very same buyers. The mare, Bingo Betty, has a Nicconi weanling colt heading to the sales in 2019.

07.01.2022 Saturdays Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude victory of Enbihaar is an interesting development for Riverdene Stud resident stallion STRADA. The unbeaten filly is a daughter of Charms Honour and, as such, possibly the first black-type winner for STRADA as a broodmare sire. A daughter of Magnus (by Flying Spur), Enbihaar cost $200,000 as a yearling and is bred 3S x 3D to the mighty Danehill (USA). She is one of two winners produced by the STRADA mare Charms Honour - her first two foals to race.

06.01.2022 KAPHERO can get a metropolitan winner in Adelaide as often as just about any active stallion and had another yesterday at Morphettville in the form of Just Kappy. The 7-year-old won over 1200m and took his earnings to a figure in excess of $150,000. Congratulations to owner/trainer Brian Mueller.

05.01.2022 VA PENSIERO had a first-crop 3YO named Lord Bronn trial well at Muswellbrook at the beginning of the week. Trained by Brett Cavanough, the unraced gelding jumped straight on to the bit and travelled within himself from start-to-finish over the 1000m journey. Hes worth keeping tabs on over the next few months.

05.01.2022 Dont forget VA PENSIERO all those starting to book mares in for the 2018 breeding season. The son of Golden Slipper winning racehorse and sire Stratum proved himself in elite company on the racetrack and represents outstanding value at just $4400 (inc. GST).
