25.01.2022 A strangely quiet autumn at Riverdowns. From the macabre to the sublime. The autumn colours are magnificent, but without guests it feels a little empty. The work here, of all sorts, goes on regardless.

25.01.2022 Thanks to all the neighbours for helping release fish today. Pouring rain, but the fish wont care.

25.01.2022 Apart from the Miners Cottage we also have a house on the property, also available for short term rental. It is called the Riverside House. The House sleeps 4 and is just upstream of the Miners Cottage a couple of hundred meters away. Same property, same address but a separate bookable offering. Also on Airbnb, Homeaway and Riparide. I have posted some photos of it, just to be clear. I am getting ready for the end of Lockdown!??

25.01.2022 Bobby has not returned, and he has not been found. He has gone somewhere else. Last week I made an arbor for a wisteria, and while I worked on it Bobby sat patiently, in a spot close to me but where he could also keep an eye on the chickens. He was very happy there, and made a small collection of bones to chew, his TV snacks. I have since finished the arbor and I will plant a white wisteria. His bones and a few things will be buried underneath the arbor, now Bobby's memorial, where he patiently sat. I want to thank everyone for the positive comments I have received, and also my wonderful neighbours who have helped search and supported me. Bobby's photo is the last I took of him, he was very puzzled by the snow on his back.

21.01.2022 Eggs for sale. Iso project number 87. With no guests we have way too many eggs. Look out Steggles.

17.01.2022 It doesn't often snow here in the Howqua Valley, in fact hardly in any ones memory. Even on the rare snowy day in Mansfield it doesn't snow here, but last Saturday was a beautiful exception.

14.01.2022 After spreading all these fish round I thought I should build some refuges in the dam to try and give the fish a chance against the cormorants. Here is the story in pictures of the epic placement of a fish refuge in the dam at Riverdowns. An afternoon's work and in the end the plan worked, but not before a dramatic and very wet capsize. The pipes came from the Riverside House septic. As you can see Bobby helped, also the chickens. Tomorrow I have more refuges, (sets of PVC pipes that aren't so heavy) to place at Songbird Way.............I will use the canoe instead of the boat so the opportunity for another capsize is even larger.

10.01.2022 Yesterday at 7.30 am, our beautiful Bobbysox slowly walked away from me on the driveway toward the Riverhouse. He didn't respond to my calls, and when I went after him he was gone. I have searched, with neighbours, and searched and searched again but he has not been found. I believe he has died after suffering more cluster seizures and he chose to die alone. He was loved as much as it is sad, and a part of our hearts and a part of Riverdowns, his home, will always belong to Bobbysox.

06.01.2022 Day 2 of the war against cormorants. 3 sturdy pvc shelters............mixed sizes as I have no idea what I am doing. (A bit like Facebook really.) Pipes between 50 and 160 mm wide and up to 1500 long should cover it. I didn't drown this time and Bobby helped again. These refuges went into the dam at Songbird Way. The things we do when Melbourne is locked down.
