25.01.2022 'Last drinks' on the river, yesterday. Thanks to legend RiverFly guide @merseyfly for the fishing session. Simone, myself, Pete and the rest of the gang look forward to seeing you all again in the new era, in wonderful Tasmania.

24.01.2022 Happy long weekend! Check out our latest hatch chart, and fingers crossed you'll be at the right place, at the right time. The fishing in the past fortnight has been great :)

23.01.2022 From the back lakes to the rural rivers, the mayfly spinners are on! This one fell to an #1864blackspinner, while a dozen fish came to hand during a lunchtime red spinner fall in the Bronte system. And did we mention the early morning ceanids on the streams..?

22.01.2022 Hot off the press, our September report and hatch chart. If you are keen for the first solid sightfishing of the season, i'd ditch the footy and head fishing this weekend :)

21.01.2022 Happy days in the midlands. With a cracking forecast for the rest of the week, we are looking foreward to a mix of rafting the rivers, and sight fishing the Western Lakes. Tasmania at its best! Thanks for the pic D Hemmings. #flyfishingtasmania #flyfishtasmania #tasmania #discovertasmania #gfaoa #unordinaryadventures #bluederby

21.01.2022 An original red #1864spinner . One of our classic patterns, proving deadly on the streams (Brumbys), and lakes (Penstock), during the past fortnight. #tasmania #flyfishingtasmania #buysomethingtasmanian

19.01.2022 Check out our latest hatch chart...fishing conditions are excellent!

19.01.2022 Nothing like dry fly eats in September. Early duns and stoneflies are about, with clear conditions for sightfishing :)

18.01.2022 Spring mayfly: by my calculations it's just two weeks till the river hatches start. Ye ha! A few 1864 Pheasant Tail Spinners and a couple Ostrich Herl Nymphs is all you need. Angler @richardmortlock @merseyfly #flyfishingtasmania #flyfishtasmania #tasmania #gfaoa

18.01.2022 The latest Tasmanian fly fishing hatch chart. Beetles and hoppers :)

18.01.2022 Check out the first hatch chart of the season - time to tie up some Earthworm flies and chase some floodwater feeders!

18.01.2022 Check out the new 'Tasmania - Plateau Lakes' article by RiverFly's Daniel Hackett and Peter Broomhall. And how about that ice picture! https://catchmagazine.net/article/tasmania-the-lakes/

17.01.2022 Did we mention that the mayflies are on... Dries and emergers are the flies of choice, and sight-fishing is the tactic. If you are keen on chasing wild river trout, get in touch now. https://riverfly.com.au/fly-fishing-tasmania/

17.01.2022 Just two weeks to opening day, after the longest off-season in Tasmanian history! We'll be optimistic, and look for some bigger fish with either an 1864 Woolly Caddis, or a Muz Wilson inspired Fuzzle Bugger. What fly are you planning to tie on? https://riverfly.com.au/product/woolly-caddis/

15.01.2022 A quick shout-out to the team Swift Fly Fishing : we've been using their Epic Fly Rods for a few seasons now, and have about a half-dozen carbon and glass rods. Last week a customer unfortunately broke one of our loan-rods for the first time. In the past with other brands this has meant that we haven't had the rod back inside of 12 weeks, so I was stoked when the replacent tip for the Epic turned up within 5 days, and we've got our complete suite of rods back out on the water. Thanks Carl and Jeannie!

14.01.2022 Happy days guiding on the northern streams. How good are those colours!

12.01.2022 Airborne! A classic catch from the creeks this week. Hoppers and great waterflows = excellent fishing. by amphibious RiverFly guide @merseyfly . Fly: 1864 Mini WMD Hopper

11.01.2022 Another ripper trout heads back to to the wild. The damsels and duns are on, and the fish are in excellent condition. Favourite flies during the last week have included our Pheasant Tail Spinners and 1864 Damsel. Have a great weekend!

11.01.2022 The frogs are out across the plateau, and the duns are on the lowlands. What a great time to be in Tassie!

10.01.2022 You might remember legend Jack from a few years ago. We'll he's back, and at 96 years old he's still nailing them on the dries. Legend! #tasmania #troutunlimited #dryordie #gfaoa #australia #unordinaryadventures #flyfishingtasmania #flyfishtasmania

09.01.2022 Mates rates for locals, just in time for the frog and mayfly season :)

09.01.2022 Hopper feeder, see ya later The hoppers are on...1864 Mini WMD's are the go, along with damsels on the more selective trout.

09.01.2022 Not long till season 2020 starts in Tasmania! Can't wait to drift the Northern Midlands rivers, chasing October mayfly. #flyfishingtasmania

07.01.2022 Sums up the vibes for season 2020. Can't wait, 5 weeks(ish) to go! Where are you heading on opening day?

05.01.2022 A cracking shot by RiverFly guide Peter Broomhall. The #1864spinner has been doing the trick on these leapers :)

05.01.2022 Where to head on the long-weekend? Brumbys and the Esk rivers are fishing well, while fish out West are looking up for spinners, and eating mini WMDs. Did we mention ants? If the ant numbers across Launceston combined with the easterly weather flow work out, look out for some big falls over the weekend. Happy fishing! Recommended fly patterns: Pheasant Tail Spinners and Mini WMD's

05.01.2022 Interested in meeting John Gooderham, author of the Waterbug Book? If you are keen to learn more about waterbugs and hatches, then come along to our Waterbug app day. It's free of charge, and you'll be helping the environment as part of the National Waterbug Blitz . Follow the link to find out more, and register. Thanks!

04.01.2022 The Lake Augusta gate is now open. Perfectly timed for the peak frog season, have a great weekend :) thanks Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service

01.01.2022 Hide 'n seek on Tassie's small streams this week. This pool had a half-dozen fish, all keen to eat a Mini-WMD Hopper fly. Three weeks in and the hopper season shows no sign of slowing down anytime before easter :)
